Pretty good front two for the second division Lineker and Smith. Our defence looks very iffy but Pates, Walker Speedie and Johnny B were all fine players.

With Gary Chivers playing, Pates probably played midfield. Good old Joey was playing as well!

Chelsea at Coventry in 1972. Bit of a transitional team with Kember, Garland and Garner along with a very young Gary Locke. Worth watching for a hilarious own goal and a rival to Martin Tyler's 'Oh No' commentary (when Crespo scored a fantastic late winner at Wigan). That's at 5m10s and has to be heard to be believed. The bias against us in the media is real and is nothing new:

Chelsea- Coventry from 1977, early in the season after we got promoted (so not long after Eddie Mac quit). Following on from shocking commentary above we are victims of appalling reffing. Look at the build up to their goal on 4m06s.

Never seen this. What's the Cup I wonder?

,

I'm guessing it's the South East Counties cup, Ken Shellito is in the pic and he was manager of the youth side who played all their games at the old Mitcham training ground, probably around 74 as there are a lot of Eddie McReadie's 77 promotion winning team there, Wilkins, Bason, Finnieston, Wicks, Sparrow, Lewington and Walker. Two from my part of the world as well, Teddy Maybank from Mitcham (front row furthest right), and Les Briley from St Helier who went on to have a long career at Millwall, (front row, red vest) I went out with his sister for a while.

And a bit later on Fillery, Chivers and Mark Dennis came up through Mitcham Royals I think.

Found this about the player. Used his middle name of Graham. Does it help you remembering him?

Graham Moore is already there in the second row, third from the right. The mystery man is at the back ,next to Frank Upton. Why isn't Chelsea's worst ever signing Tommy Harmer in the picture? Probably too embarrassed. What made it worst was we signed the bugger from Spurs.
