That picture is 100% from Chelsea 2 Everton 1 85/86, it was at half time & conducted by Bates who was stood on a step ladder, the picture was for the clubs Xmas card, i still have one of them.

I think that was the game where Neville Southall was sent off and gave The Shed the V sign,

Shed v Ipswich 72/73 i'm lead to believe

I believe that picture is from the front of our programme, if I get a chance I will dig it out.

Love that aerial shot, can see where my Dad is in Brompton cemetery, in the family plot....

Met some work colleagues at a game a couple of years back and mentioned I'd popped in to see the old man on the way to the match, not sure they realised he's buried next door to the bridge

Some new you tube stuff that I don't think I've seen on here before, thanks to Paul Smith

Love the Bristol City clip showing Chelsea fans celebrating.

I was there with my dad that day, and he always wanted to stand and chat with the home supporters so we were in the side enclosure. It was the last day of the season and they'd already been promoted and given it was our lowest ever league position at the time the support was outstanding, I saw a flag that day that I've never forgotten, big blue sheet with "Thou shalt rise again Chelsea" on it, probably the weirdest flag I've ever seen.

And they weren't wrong were they!

Cheers CB. Great photos of a great day out at Grimsby. Never seen them before.

I think they are from the pen to the left of the one in which the overcrowding took place at the start of the match which was a corner section. I was in there.

It was Mickey Greenaway, sitting in the seats to the right, right next to the overcrowding who (IMO) saved us from things getting more serious. It was he who persuaded the Old Bill that we weren't trying to invade the pitch to cause trouble but were just trying to save ourselves. At that stage those who could we were singing "let us out, let us out, let us out" and the OB were truncheoning anyone who tried to climb up the fence to get out. MG explained what was happening and got the coppers to open one of the gates into the seating section. From there I went and watched the match in the other (empty) corner section to the left of the pitch.
