May 18, 201511 yr Anyone else not arsed about the Witcher? Anyone? HELLOOOO? Played the first one for about 10 minutes. Was sh*t.

May 18, 201511 yr Yeah I thought the same about the second one. I'd probably be as excited as everyone else if I hadn't have played it... Stop it.
May 19, 201511 yr Just going to bed... been playing the Witcher for 3 hours. Early impressions = amazing. Much better than DA:I so far. Get it!

May 19, 201511 yr The has just been and picked up The Witcher for herself, in the excitement they talked her into buying the season pass and she's bought the strategy guide too. Mrs FC is now £90 the poorer but pleased as punch. Considering the game is at least 100 hours and the expansions are a further 30 hours I think £70 is good value, especially when you consider I paid £50 for The Order 1886 and finished it within a weekend (thankfully got most my money back on that one by selling it on straight away).
May 19, 201511 yr More details please! Graphics? Gameplay? Graphics are immense. It's the lighting that does it. You've probably seen gameplay videos and reviews where it shows dawn and sunset, it looks simply amazing. Combat feels great & fluid, better than any RPG (especially Dragon Age where I just spammed the hit button) I've played in the last couple of years. I love how the map is free to explore straight away. I just did a tutorial (which could have been skipped but was quick and useful anyway), followed a guy on a horse for 5 mins and then was free to do whatever. Had a couple of frame rate drops in the cut-scenes at the beginning but none since in cut-scenes or normal gameplay and other reviewers have reported the same so hopefully there's nothing in it. ForeverCarefree - I know there is free DLC released periodically, is the season pass just a whole lot more? I'm tempted to get a strategy guide but I figure most of the information will be online anyway. Flicking through them in Game, they do look cool though. Edited May 19, 201511 yr by RichardCFC

I'm tempted to get a strategy guide but I figure most of the information will be online anyway. Flicking through them in Game, they do look cool though. The free DLC is likely to be costumes or stuff like that. The season pass expansions are going to contain two content drops. One which is a minimum 10 hours and the other an additional 20 hours. As far as I understand they're going to be extensions to the story and whole new areas to explore. I bought the strategy guide for Bloodborne and although the content can be found online sometimes it's just nice to have the book there which is laid out in a very user friendly way and with maps etc for ease of reference. The Witcher one came with a nice art book as well. I've bought the Fallout New Vagas one before as well and when you have a game as expansive as those ones there can be a lot of stuff that's easily missed and they can be used to just help you avoid missing stuff that might have opened up pretty cool and interesting things.
May 19, 201511 yr I'll consider getting it for Witcher to be honest. I thought about it for GTA V but I'm glad I didn't. I bought the digital edition and I do want a paper map.
May 19, 201511 yr Just picked up the Witcher on my lunch break. Can't wait to get home and play. I bet the install time is massive.
May 19, 201511 yr Only got £17 for Dying Light which is abit disappointing. I was hoping for £20-25. Game are such rip offs

May 19, 201511 yr Anyone a bit surprised they haven't pushed MMO's to consoles yet? I know it's tough and Elder Scrolls online is coming out next month. WoW was made 10 years ago and I can't help but look at the Witcher 3 and the likes of Dragon Age and think imagine if you played those games with a group of friends. Destiny showed potential, the story is pants but the game itself is a lot of fun. I do think though WoW has killed my love of gaming, I can't pick up a game like the witcher, skyrim or dragon age without feeling like I've done this 1000 times during my warcraft addition.

They generally bomb on console that's why. Probably one of the most active ones is DC Universe Online which is free to play and free to install on PSN. Elder Scrolls bombed on PC and they delayed the release on the consoles to fine tune it after backtracking on the subscriptions format. As a rule console gamers just don't see the value in paying £8+ a month for a game they've already shelled out £50 for, especially when you add on top that they are now paying £40 a year to allow them to play online via PS+ or Xbox Live. Ends up working out around £15 a month (over 12 months) to play a game, just not good value.
May 19, 201511 yr Anyone read the article about Konami stopping making console games? They're focusing on mobile gaming. Hopefully this won't mean the end for Pes and Metal Gear Solid.
May 19, 201511 yr Anyone read the article about Konami stopping making console games? They're focusing on mobile gaming. Hopefully this won't mean the end for Pes and Metal Gear Solid. That's exactly what it means. Don't expect much quality from them anymore. Apparently they make everything from slot machines to gym equipment in Japan, their gaming division is just a small part of their business. Seems like they don't give a sh*t about console gaming anymore after they binned the Tel Torro Silent Hills game. I wouldn't be surprised if Metal Gear The Phantom Pain is their last ever high profile release.

I can see why the subscription is a major stumbling block but if the game added content consistently over a long period of time then for me it's worth the value. I do think they are a thing of the past, only WoW has a sub out of the major MMOs now but that's because it is still king. It's just my opinion though, I look at the likes of Witcher and Dragon Age and see that they look very impressive but it's the same idea. If you apply an MMO online format to those games and try find out a balance within player combat then it becomes so much more, the game industry is very much like the film. If you are not a franchise, sequel or don't have a big name backing you it's tough to get new ideas out and be a smash hit. I never liked Skyrim, it couldn't hold my attention for more than an hour. Though I am looking forward to Elder Scrolls Online for the console and I hope it shows potential to what an MMO can achieve on the console.

It's just that MMOs require a ton of grinding and most console gamers are looking for more instant gratification. That's why games like CoD do so well, short matches, instant reward. Same with FIFA, turn it on and bag, you're in an online match. I just don't think there's a market for MMOs on console, the numbers just aren't there to justify the effort of maintaining the games. Destiny is as close as it will get IMO because it still retains an arcade style feel.

Destiny is as close as it will get IMO because it still retains an arcade style feel. Destiny had a lot of potential and showed what it could become if they improved key areas like the Story and had more diversity. It's still a very popular game and I think it's because it has that mmo format. You're right CoD, Fifa are your classic console games. Fifa and only linear single player games(The Last of Us for e.g) are the only games I play these days but games like the Witcher, Skyrim, Dragon Age also require a lot of grinding and time to complete and have a massive open world environment. I suppose my point being is that it's such a shame you can't experience these open world environments with other players at the same time. It's why I don't play them and refer to the point that WoW killed my love for gaming. That game was out of this world and groundbreaking but the social aspect was always the number 1 appeal. Im probably not the only one, though I think me getting older has also contributed to making less interested in trying these new games out.
May 19, 201511 yr Witcher 3. Get it. Amazing combat. Playing on 'Blood and Broken Bones' difficulty. Perfect amount of challenge. I'll probably sink more time into it over the weekend. Really good so far.
May 19, 201511 yr Witcher 3. Get it. Amazing combat. Playing on 'Blood and Broken Bones' difficulty. Perfect amount of challenge. I'll probably sink more time into it over the weekend. Really good so far. Is that the second hardest difficulty? I started on the second easiest (third hardest) but switched it up a notch after it was a bit easy.
May 19, 201511 yr Do you know if there's a way to see how long I've played it for?how angry does your girlfriend look?
