Any game recommendation?

Destiny had a lot of potential and showed what it could become if they improved key areas like the Story and had more diversity. It's still a very popular game and I think it's because it has that mmo format. You're right CoD, Fifa are your classic console games. Fifa and only linear single player games(The Last of Us for e.g) are the only games I play these days but games like the Witcher, Skyrim, Dragon Age also require a lot of grinding and time to complete and have a massive open world environment.

I suppose my point being is that it's such a shame you can't experience these open world environments with other players at the same time. It's why I don't play them and refer to the point that WoW killed my love for gaming. That game was out of this world and groundbreaking but the social aspect was always the number 1 appeal.

Im probably not the only one, though I think me getting older has also contributed to making less interested in trying these new games out.

Neverwinter on the Xbox One is a really popular MMO at the moment. It's not really an open world though but the signs are promising.

I can see why the subscription is a major stumbling block but if the game added content consistently over a long period of time then for me it's worth the value. I do think they are a thing of the past, only WoW has a sub out of the major MMOs now but that's because it is still king. It's just my opinion though, I look at the likes of Witcher and Dragon Age and see that they look very impressive but it's the same idea. If you apply an MMO online format to those games and try find out a balance within player combat then it becomes so much more, the game industry is very much like the film. If you are not a franchise, sequel or don't have a big name backing you it's tough to get new ideas out and be a smash hit.

I never liked Skyrim, it couldn't hold my attention for more than an hour. Though I am looking forward to Elder Scrolls Online for the console and I hope it shows potential to what an MMO can achieve on the console.

To see a good MMO model check out World of Tanks and the company that makes it. The game is basically free, you pay for extra features. The key is that they paid features are not breaking the balance, you can enjoy the game and be successfuly without them while they are still worth the money should you choose to pay for them.

Witcher 3.

Get it.

Amazing combat. Playing on 'Blood and Broken Bones' difficulty. Perfect amount of challenge.

I'll probably sink more time into it over the weekend. Really good so far.

This has me salivating. Saturday can't come soon enough for me! I swear I've read every review on the first 10 pages of Google for this game, just to keep me going until I can get my hands on it.

Couldnt agree more! Same difficulty I'm playing it on, the game is absolutely epic, few wee niggled for me like when you call your horse it gets stuck a lot, but it's just so much fun to play, when I finish work on Friday I'm not leaving the house this weekend!'

The best thing about the Witcher is that you can jump over foot high walls which I struggled to do in Dragon Age!

The world isn't 100% open as I thought - there are "areas" but it's still very good. Also a couple of bugs/choppiness in cut-scenes which should be fixed by patches.

The soundtrack, especially when in combat, is fantastic.

Loving every minute.

Had an hour on Witcher last night, really hard to take myself away from it. Great so far, loving it. Looking forward to a good stint on it on Friday.

I like Dota 2, but the community is horrible. Everyone is so mean and you can't disable the text chat so I have to see all the insults they type.

Finally managed to get myself a PS4, just got 4 games for it so far, FIFA, Witcher 3, Mortal Kombat and GTA 5.

Played some of the Witcher this morning, very good, I love the combat!

Great selection of games to start off with!

Yeah the Witcher combat is so satisfying, dodging blows then finishing the enemy off in the back.

Really psyched for Just Cause 3. The fact that they've given Rico a wingsuit in addition to the parachute has thrilled me no-end.

After Arkham Knight the game I'll plan on picking up will be Avalanche Studios (makers of Just Cause) Mad Max game, the trailer explaining the game mechanics came out recently and it looks exactly like my sort of game.

What level are you and does the enemy have a skull over their heads? If so, I believe that means that they're a far higher level and you should come back to them.

Or too high a difficulty?

Or block/dodge more and wear better armour?

Finally I have the time to play Witcher 3, and to my shock I found that WASD movement keys cannot be remapped in the game settings. Damn console port... I had to edit a config file to get my usual (and clearly superior) ESDF setup.

On the Witcher, anyone know how to not die so easily? I keep getting killed after two or three hits

It's not like most Action RPG where you can run in and kill, you need to be patient sometimes.

Got it on the normal level. I think I need to loot more before getting into battles. It's not like most games where you start again with a full bar of health.

On my way to picking up the Witcher 3 from game, after trading in FIFA, COD and AC: Unity. Wonder how much money I will get off?

But in all honesty, I don't care if they say they will give me a quid for those three games, just take my f**king money!
