Drogba's re -signs

Featured Replies

Apparently we resigning drogs for anoer year. This clearly shows limited ambition over at least the next season. At 34 drogs is not going to score many goals this season and won't have the legs to make the assists that were a largely un noticed part of his best years.

Rebuilding the team is clearly going to be a multiple year process

34 or not he still frightens the living hell out of all the defences in Europe. His fitness levels are fantastic, still got another good 2 years IMO.

He is, & always has been, the best striker at this club. Spending big on Sheva, Torres, etc doesn't change that.

Great news, he is still the best forward we have and more likely than not will be our best forward next season. Letting him go would have been a massive mistake in my opinion.

Couldn't be happier Chelsea wise having just read about Didi signing for another year. Ozboy, don't be fooled by Drogba's age, he was a late starter as a pro and has 6 or so years less knocks, bumps and bruises than the average player, bit like Ian Wright really and he played at top level well into his 30s.

Far be it from me to put a damper on the celebrations, but the most positive of the reports I've read suggest that Drogba expects to extend his contract by another 12 months. Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I don't think it's actually happened yet.

That's all I've seen too:

Asked whether he wished to extend his deal at the club with whom he has won three league titles, Drogba said: "Of course, why not? We've started talking and it's very interesting. Everybody knows what I feel about Chelsea and what I want. I will definitely be here next season. I said a few years ago that I will be here until the end of my contract, and I am here. Now I need to keep playing well here and giving my best, like I always try to do. This will be my eighth season at this club and it means a lot for any striker to stay that long at Chelsea."

Ugh. Really needed him to go this season.

Really needed our best forward to go this season?

Exactly. I am a lil confused too as to the official site reporting nothing of the sorts. Even the signings of Courtais and Romeu are still not confirmed by the club. I will be extremely positive if all these three speculations/news are officiated in the next few days. Drogs is a legend. I personally feel the club owes him a CL. People might disagree with my stance but I would certainly be extremely happy to bid farewell to Drogba with a CL medal.

he can still do a job, as an impact player and definitely in cups & CL...................BUT not 1st pick anymore

still scares many defenders and most opposition fans, big character in the 'group'

and, he has scored many many big goals to win big matches

enjoy him while you can

he'll be a legend when he's gone

Drogba may be 33 but hes still as good and as fit and sharp and as quick as any 29 year old . Really looked after himself and hes more hungry now that Torres has arrived id start him ahead of any centre forward in world football.

some of drogbas performances at the end of last season were up there with his very best, he seems to play with a calmness now and his link up play is still the best in the world. True legend, people who want to get rid of him are ridiculous, we need players like him, lamps and terry to pass on to the new breed what it means to be chelsea. very proud to to say he's ours!

I agree that Drogba is good player but while he is still fit now it would be a good time to move him. How much do you think he is worth? 15-20 mil? There may well be some good young talent out there. Also I think he may well be a bit moody and is not always up for a game. I guess we do need him though as I think Torres is done. I don't see him getting his pre injury form back. It's like he's just going through the motions, doesn't look happy. Just my 2 cents worth.
