If he had a footballing brain he'd be lethal.

I was disgusted to see sections of out "support" sarcastically cheer him off yesterday, it's why I keep away from home games, the atmosphere is poisionous full of idiots that just turn up expecting to see a 7-0 and 8-0 wins every week.

One reason why I like Kalou a lot more than some of our other players is because he always tries and his body language is positive, not to mention the fact he has scored some key goals for us against Man Utd and in derby games (i.e Spurs, Fulham, QPR etc) where we couldn't afford to lose

I get what you mean.

He's got the attitude, he's on the right frame of mind and he's a fighter.

He's just extremely unlucky and, well, he's got two left feet.

By the way, fans like that are a disgrace. Subbing him was a good decision, but making fun of him is totally uncalled for when you can clearly see he is genuinely trying.

Mate there was plenty to be disgusted about from the crowd in the first half yesterday. The enormous groans every time we gave the ball away, the boos at halftime. AVB was within his rights to have a go at them in the press conference yesterday. People don't seem to see that it only makes things worse. It's hard to play an ambitious through ball when the crowd is at you if it doesn't come off.

That's why I actually think we do better when we go behind away, because the travelling crowd are always behind the team, signing and whatnot and there isn't the same level of pressure.

On Kalou, he's so hard to dislike. He is just a genuine hard worker, and humble as well. I still think the substitution had as much to do with trying to get Malouda on to play wider, because the inside wingers was requiring the fullbacks to push up and we were getting murdered by Long and Tchoyi moving into the space behind them. But of course he could easily have been hooked for his poor display, not that it warranted the carry on that occured.

Agreed, I'm not a fan of Kalou but to sarcastically cheer off your own player is wrong, some fans are idiots and get to go to the games where as people like me who has been a fan since 97/98 can't even get tickets for a game.

The modern football fan is a complete mystery to me. They expect us to win 6-0 every game and be 5 up after 20 minutes or they will boo, with nigh on 100% possession and zero attempts at goal. They want a squad of 25 world class players bought for a minimum of £30m, and also want to see loads of youngsters coming through. Spoilt is a great way to describe them geezer.

Its strange how for all Kalous missgivings he gets quite a lot of game time given to him buy every Manager that comes here...people slated Carlo for playing him unyet he helped us to second place last season with a fair few goals against all classes of opposition, the new Manager most were crying out for comes in and again sees something in him that he feels is worth a starting place....even though the game before last was one of Sols worst AVB still started him in the next game, perhaps subbing him after thirty minutes was not so much a clever substitution as an admittance of the mistake in starting him after the last poor showing.

Kalou is a confidence player and the Stoke game can't have given his confidence a boost, I hope the new Manager realises he makes a far better impact sub and maybe as a starter he should only be considered after a good performance from the bench when his confidence is high.

I like the Boy and for all his shortcomings he deserves to be a squad member with the occasional start.

most of the team played sh*t yesterday but for some reason it's the same old faces who get the blame...kalou was poor, but apart from torres, no-one seemed to be up for it in the first half...avb showed bollox by makin the change early, but no-one should have cheered kalou off, especially as he was replaced by malouda, who these idiots also like to jeer

I read it as "Late night Kalou sweat".....

I was indeed disappointed....

You worry me sometimes. :)

Kalou always seems to play well in the second half of the season but with Sturridge coming back from suepension and possibly Juan Mata coming in I think Kalou's days are numbered

I agree.I think AVB has tried to be fair to Kalou and give his chances. But he must be seeing what many of us already know - he's not good enough to be any more than a squad player and with Sturridge soon to be available and the signing of Lukaku, unless we are thinking of off-loading Anelka or Drogba, Kalou's days are definitely nunbered.

I think offloading Anelka or Drogs would be a mistake at this point

Agree completely about the idiots who cheered Kalou off and boo'ed at half time.

I was surprised Kalou was taken off. He was one of the more lively players up to then - although that wasn't saying much!!

However, we did play better after the change so credit to the manager for making the decision.

Whilst i maintain he should never have started and should never start i do feel a bit for him yesterday. Yes he was bad, but in truth they were all bad in that first half and he seemed to take the brunt for it.

The 'fans' that cheered him off are the same sort of fans who boo players and who boo if it we are not winning at half time and who moan if we dont spend 100 million each transfer window.

w**kers, spolit w**kers and have no place at my football club.

Although I agree, perhaps they were just cheering the manager's decision to change things when things weren't going right? And let's face it - subbing Kalou was the correct decision.

That said, you're all probably right - just sarcastic cheers aimed at an unpopular player.

Sol comes across as a very likable young lad however, I don't quite get this 'only a squad player' thing?.

For a team with mid-table ambitions then yes maybe I can see that point, but for a top domestic/european team, with an ambition to beat the rest, then no, I can't .

I doubt Kalou see's himself as only a squad player & if he did, it would prove that he is at the wrong club imo.

Being likable is unfortunatly no substitute for ability & Sol just doesn't have the right amount of ability for CFC.

Ideally, a player can force his way into the team on performance & if there isn't the place available then I would like that player to be in the managers office bending his ear everyday!.

As for 'supporters' booing a player, that's just another sign of todays selfish, want it now, inward looking soceity

is it ok for him to be jeered and critised on here?

I think it's ok to criticise any player on here. Doing it at a game is pointless and helps no one. But if any fan has opinions about any player there has to be somewhere to share and discuss these thoughts. We don't want a communist party thought police situation where you have to toe a party line surely? Plus, I assume the players, if they have any sense, won't browse fans forums.

I've never been a massive fan of Kalou but he has given as much as most other players and made good contributions for the club and I would never stand and jeer him, or any other Chelsea player.

Being hauled off uninjured in the first half is a terrible thing for any player. He doesn't need booing to get the message that he needs to do better.

And one other thing, considering the grief Malouda gets I'm surprised he wasn't jeered as he came on.

And this was his comment right before the match.

'It's always great playing at home. That's one of the great moments when you enjoy yourselves. You always enjoy playing away games but playing in front of the home fans is an amazing thing. I've missed it.'

Wonder what he thinks of the home fans now. Spoilt w**kers is exactly right.
