Realisation amongst several this was the last chance saloon for the CL as they were reaching their 30(s). Mikel revealing that on the evening before the match Di Matteo showed a video recorded without the players knowledge interviewing their nearest and dearest about them and the match. Mikel was blown away to see his younger brother being interviewed. Lahm on Drogba's header saying there is nothing you can do about it as the delivery is so good, only happens in about 1/50th of crosses. It's funny JT said something about one of Maguire's goals recently saying it was not a defensive error just an unbelievable ball you cannot defend against. The other part was the bullet header, probably the best I have seen.
February 24, 20206 yr Nice reader comment below the article from a supporter of my generation. Speaks for a lot of us! Quote It was emotional, I remembered the people no longer with us who took me to Chelsea when I was a kid, the fellow Chelsea fans I have known at school, the fans that I knew out and about, all those I have come across at the Bridge, it was poignant, happy, exhilarating, emotional. Never had such a mixture of emotions. A roller coaster ride throughout the KO stages (Barcelona was so tense) and then this amazing victory. Doubt I will ever have the same feelings again whatever Chelsea win in the future. The team I knew as a kid, Bonetti, Harris, McCreadie, Ossie, Hutch etc - the years of ups and downs and then the ultimate. As I mentioned - the emotion was unexpected and an emotion that cannot be adequately described. In a moment, the whole of my Chelsea supporting life was encapsulated by joy and memories of those who I could not share the occasion with. The next day seeing the Cup in south west London, my neighbourhood - just amazing.

I think you're right because he didn't play a signle game did he, I think he pretty much said I'm not leaving and I'm seeing out my wage on my contract. He didn't get a lot of game time in 2012 either though. He was a brilliant player during 08-10 though, extremely underrated.

I named Olic and van Buyten from their bench - guessed Badstuber but he was presumably injured.
February 28, 20206 yr Not quite the right thread but a behind the scenes tactical explanation from Steve Holland of the semi final at home, it was interesting watch:
