Platini nice bloke after all?

Recommended Posts

Straight to the point. The guy, along with his buddy sepp is a dick.

Hates us and everything we stand for, I.e roman splashing the cash (strangely quieting that subject now PSG are doing it though) and hates England and English football even more

However when told that Tottenham felt cheated they had been bumped to the Europa league he simple said "they are not being punished. They knew the rules so should of finished 3rd". Dry French wit at its best

I've just been reading that. Blatter on the other hand decided to make an idiot of himself yet again by having a moan.

On Tuesday, FIFA president Sepp Blatter questioned whether Chelsea should be allowed to enter next season's Champions League because he said all confederations should follow FIFA's rules on competition winners.

Blatter told Reuters: "We had this rule in FIFA that the winner of the World Cup was automatically qualified and we abandoned it, so the winner of a competition should not be automatically qualified.

"This is the FIFA rule and if we have the same rule all around the world then this should be applicable to UEFA as well."

Well done to Platini for showing signs of intelligent life.

As European CHAMPIONS only a biased idiot (like Blatter, the corrupt old dinosaur) would say we have less right to play in the CHAMPIONS League next season than the team who finished 4th in the league.

Blatter is a moron who doesn't understand his own competition.

They should follow FIFA's model? FIFAs model is that every club in the world/region is automatically put through to the qualification stage, if anything it's far more lenient than the Champion's League criteria!

If they followed the Champions League rules, clubs low down in the FIFA rankings would be excluded from the qualification stage of competitions.

i have no idea how that quote makes him a nice bloke

he is protecting the rules of the organization he is the head of.

Exactly, Imagine if they change the rules now and re-instate Tottenham to the Champions Leaugue at our expense....

Perversly I would love it ! .. Will show all along we were not being paranoid about UEFA treatment of Chelsea.

BTW I have not seen the trophy presentation since the night, was platini handing over the trophy with as much relish as he did for Barca ?

There is a rumour going around that UEFA are now rethinking this whole rule that put us in and kicked Tottenham out, and might change it again in the future.

Which would mean Tottenham would be the ONLY TEAM EVER TO GET KICKED OUT OF THE CL BY IT.

God I hope that happens.

Everton still made the CL but had to play in the preliminary round and lost before the group stage if I remember correctly.

Yep, despite him saying something in our defense, I still cant stand him.

Blatter...is there anything left to say about this doughboy? He's the worst, and for all he's done I hope he is removed and spends the rest of his life in jail for corruption. Maybe him, Blazer, and Jack Warner can trim down in the joint.

Too late for Tottenham! UEFA could change rule that smashed Spurs Champions League hope

'No, they have not been punished, They know the rules, they should have been third and not fourth,' said Platini.

"Controversial rule". That would be the controversial rule the Mail were campaigning for 7 years ago when they wanted the dippers to be allowed into the next tournament despite failing to qualify under the rules of the time.

Here's Monsieur Platini as we know him best.

'On the outside I try to be neutral. In my heart you never know.'

He also joked that if Juventus had been in Tottenham's position his view might have been different, saying: 'If Juventus was the fourth team of Italy perhaps I will change the rule!'

Yep, didn't what's his name....... the ref....Colini? have a shocker as well?

Yeah, I am sure it was a stitch up. They changed the rule for the Dippers but made sure they got rid of the 5th English club very quickly. Everton got an unusually tough qualifying match draw against Villareal and Collina who had already retired just pops back for one game and gives some shocking decisions including disallowing a perfectly good goal late on by Ferguson. Why would he just ref one game at the start of the season and then retire?

Seen today that Blatter has come out and said there needs to be an alternative to penalties. He had a chat with the Bayern president and he agrees!!!(!!!!)

What a joke that man is. A football governing body shouldn't publicly put his sour grapes on show quite so obviously.

If there was a better alternative to penalties, we'd be using them. There isn't. TV stations don't want to show 180minutes games, clubs don't want their players to get injured playing endless games.

How about this. Blatter sits in the middle of the pitch, and the first team to get a player to cleat him in the face wins the tournament.

The team can choose one player, so it's fair, and the fans will be eagerly anticipating the result so it will be entirely entertaining.

In fact, it could be stand alone event. I would buy a ticket to it.
