Leandro Damiao

Featured Replies

Name: Leandro Damiao

Position: Striker

Club: Internacional

Legendary Brazil striker Ronaldo picked out Leandro Damiao as Brazil's player to watch at the 2012 Olympics, even going as far as calling him "the new Ronaldo". Damiao certainly has elements of Ronaldo's skill on the ball, but unlike the former Real Madrid and Barcelona man, the striker is also tall and a genuine threat in the air. Capable of roughing up the strongest of defenders.

I'd like to sign him just to annoy Spurs fans to be honest, my mate was piping on at me last year saying they were signing him then his club said no after messing them about a bit. But otherwise no, I think we're fine for strikers if we get Hulk/Schurrle.

If I could take one player from that Brazilian Olympic team it would be Lucas Moura.

If I could take two, it would be Lucas and Oscar.

I have seen both players probably three/four times and both look quality. Oscar, if he comes, will eventually take over from Lampard. Real and United are chasing Lucas. If he goes to Old Trafford he could have a similar effect to Aguerro at Citeh last season, though IMO Fergie will probably easy him in gradually. The kid has all the tools to be something extra special.

Don't forget we got Hazard, isn't Lucas a LW/Cam as well?

Lucas = RW mostly or CAM. With his pace and skill could also be used as a striker in a front two IMO

I wonder if we could sign both Oscar and Lucas. Although I'd be surprised if the latter moved at all before the world cup. We were reported to have bid 35m for Lucas in January but it was rejected and he said he'd be staying in Brazil until after the world cup. Now utd are being linked with 25m being quoted? If we sign Oscar then I think we'd be in pole position to sign Lucas if not this summer, then maybe next. Fingers crossed.

I'll be well pis*ed if he ends up at old trafford...why are we going for hulk and willian when we can have this kid? I agree he's quality and would love to see him and oscar the club

This guy is a beast, if we want to add another striker this is the guy.

He's young, Danny is young. Unless we bench Torres, it could blow the next few seasons of one.

Andreas, I love you, you know I do.

Damiao looks quality. Has an eye for goal, knows how to finish. However, if we are heading into the season with Torres and Sturridge (with Lukaku on loan) and we want another striker, I'd prefer someone that won't cost another +20m pounds. I feel like Internacional, especially after losing Oscar, will not be good negotiators on him.

He would bring nothing new in our quest of breaking down the buses. He seems to fit team Brazil very well but I don't see him being any better than Danny. Actually I think Danny is more versatile. I'm convinced we need a right sided player rather than pure striker. Great to see him get the service at the Olympics though.

Internacional's president said Tottenham (or any other team that wants him) has to meet the 60m Euro buyout clause for him.

How the hell did we get Oscar for what we paid?

Because we're not Spuds.

I still think Damiao would be a magnificent addition, maybe not quite at Cavani's level but with some time to adapt he could be devestating.

Damiao looked excellent at the Olympics, but prior to that, he was underwhelming every time I saw him play.

Now that they've sold Oscar, they're flush with cash and therefore can take a much harder line on Damiao. I have a feeling that they'd be saying the same thing about Oscar if they'd had sold Damiao instead. Personally, I much prefer Oscar.

Of course, but in a week where Lucas Moura goes for 45m Euros, Damiao allegedly is not allowed to leave for less than 60m Euros, and Sao Paulo's nutjob literally saying that you can't name a price for Neymar because he's priceless, it's surreal we were able to get someone as highly touted as Oscar for what we paid.

Neymar's a special case. His skills on the pitch aren't what make him priceless - it's the fact that his value as a marketing tool is astronomical. A Brasilian player having that sort of cachet prior to making a move to Europe isn't something that happens often in the modern game. The money they make in a transfer will likely pale in comparison to the value they get by owning him. When he wants to move, they won't have much of a choice, but they're smart to hold onto him for as long as they can.

I would like to join the party in wishing hell to Spurs...

But I think us making them think they would be playing ECL... then laughing in their face when we stuffed them up has already given them hell.
