lets break it down a little bit for player who might leave or set on the bench :

Frank Lampard (CM-CAM-CDM) : at 34 of age its unfair to expcet him to give as much as he already given in the last decade

he will need a Protégé and i can't see any player filling his boots other than Josh Mceachran , he's a 19 year old Englisman & he is a Chlesea player since the youth acadmey till now it , his footballing style is very much smillier to Frank's making him the perfect Protégé , there is no need to loan him just give him a little of Lamps time druing the season .

Raul Meireles (CM-CAM) : it looks pretty obivous for eveybody that he wont be a first team regular making him a second option might not be good deal for the Portugues especially with Napoli's intreset , if he stays great ... if not i think Kevin de Bruyne can take his slot and do wonders with it .

Yossi Benayoun (CAM) : at the age of 32 and still couldn't manage to convince any Chelsea manager i dont think he can add anything speical to the team , his time is up plus we have Piazon as a CAM .

Malouda (CAM-LW-LAM) : same story as Raul if he gladly set on the bench AND lower his salary then good ... if not we got 2 players who can fill his 2 postions , Oscar ( CM ) Dani ( Winger ) .

with all those options do we need offensive players ?

players like

Modric(CM-CAM) - Willian(LW-LAM) - Sneijder(CAM)

or do we need more tactical-defensive players in the midfield ?

tactical players like : Cabaye - Hamsik

defensive players : Song - Sheikh Tioti

i stil don't think that mikel & Essien isn't enough

and Rami was a disaster when carlo played him as a CDM so was Raul last season

i think we only need a CDM

and a second stirker

we can relay on Torres through out a whole season

M'Vila might not be a bad option. He is a defensive minded player and is also not afraid to get stuck in and tackle.

I think the lack of responses is due mainly to the format of the post which makes it hard work to read. Everything centred and too many gaps between lines were gaps wouldn’t normally exist.

I did read through it and it is a fair point. In Mata, Hazard, Marin we have enough midfielders who will play nearer Torres and with Lampard possible employed in a deeper role and also Ramires, Mikel and Essien we have enough who can support them. Oscar is possibly the wild card who can be more versatile.

I feel the likes of KDB, Benayoun and Meireles will get very limited playing time and we might be best to send KDB on loan again. Kakuta will get none, McEachran will struggle again (a loan deal probably best for him as well). Malouda, if he stays, might get a bit of playing time as we are still short of width. Hazard can obviously play on the left as can Mata (although he is wasted on the flank).

I actually don’t think we need another central midfielder whether it be an attacking or defensive one. I am happy with Mikel and Essien as our options and we have a few makeshift options in the event that neither of them are available. The only reason to invest in another would be if we decided to let Essien go.

I agree about the need for a new striker. We cannot rely on Torres and Sturridge has been played out of position too often for us to be able to be confident he can fill in, or even step in longer term if Torres fails again.

It would appear we are again going to enter a season with a make shift right sided creative player but I think we have invested too heavily in creative players to now be looking to add another so we should forget all about Moses.

Wouldnt be shocked to see him leave at the end of the season.- Rami, He will be here for years to come.- Raul, If an offer comes in for him i can see him being sold. - Yossi Same as Raul- Mata Same are Rami- Dani Who?- Malouda, i think he will stay for the season and will leave on a free next summer.

I'm going to count on Oscar being signed. Doesn't seem likely we will miss out on him now.

That will make us really strong in the central positions, even if Mikel is our only real defensive midfielder.

Two questions remain for our attacking players.

1. Do we need another striker? I think we do. There's just too much uncertain with our strikers. Will Torres start scoring more goals? Will Sturridge perform well in a central position? Will Lukaku go on loan somewhere and if he stays, is he really ready to step into Drogba shoes?

I do think Lukaku will go on loan for a season which leaves us Torres and Sturridge. Someone like Cavani would add strength and extra quality up front. Buying someone like that does not mean Torres will be shunned to the bench. He will still have his part to play - especially if he starts scoring.

2. Do we need a right winger? I confess I know very little about Hazard, De Bruyne and Marin - I've just seen them play on the left and in the centre position (though didn't Marin get some minutes to the right in our last game?) - so I don't know if any of them can play as a right winger. If not our only options there is Sturridge and Ramires - of whom neither have it as their natural position. I would therefore like us to get a natural right winger. Hulk have been linked with us quite a lot, but the amount of money Porto wants for him might make us go for someone else or just play with what we've got.

Apart from that I'd like us to get a right back. Ivan is great, but it's not his natural position (though it might as well be that now) and it's never wrong with having options.

So to put it short I would like to see us get another striker, right winger and a right back as well as Oscar.

If Oscar comes, No. Mata, Marin, Hazard, Oscar, Lampard should be able to handle those spots.

Regarding to DM. We have plenty. Mikel, Romeu, Meireles and Lampard are all more than capable. I hope our game will be more than DM and weathering the storm-type of thing. Lampard and Oscar can provide the Pirlo-style play to us.

I don't even count Benayoun and Malouda being in our squad. I feel those two are going to teams they can actually play in.

Bakcup for Torres maybe in the cards if the news about Schurrle and Lewandowski are true. We wouldn't bid if there was no need. It means Danny is still in the right side and Lukaku is loaned out. Not sure what will happen in that but IMO we'd be fine with what we have right now. I have to say lot of the expectations will be put on Hazard, Marin and Oscar(if he joins CFC).

Also not a fan of that bold and centering thing you did there. Sorry but welcome.

Pazon isnt a striker, Robbie is using him in that role in pre season because Torres only joined up yesterday. I dont know why Robbie didnt give Bamford a chance but its his call.

Lukaku really needs games, he wont get that with us right now. That only leaves Studge and Torres, say one of them breaks their leg on the 1st Sept then will will have to rely on 1 player for half a season at least. that too much to ask. We NEED another striker or a player like Hulk who can cover.

M'Villa and Oscar would be more than enough for me. In fact I think just Oscar would do, if we got M'Villa that would mean less games for Romeu. Hard to pass up on M'Villa though so not 100% sure. Oscar plays RW as well for Inter so he covers two positions. Could actually be first choice at RW (Unlikely though, I expect Marin to claim that spot with Rami and Oscar rotating depends on who we play) which would mean Sturridge would be rotated with Torres. Point is both Torres and Sturridge won't be on the pitch at the same time for most games.

I don't think we need another striker/rw but it seems like we are trying to get one regardless.

Edit Of course Azpilicueta as well. Forgot cause there hasn't been much of an update on him.

Any forward should not be an out and out striker IMO that is why we put in a bid for Schurrie who can

Definatly agree with you on Hazard, i doubt he will be here in 5 years time, but I expect that 5 years to be amazing.

I still have very high hopes for Romeu as a defensive midfielder and though I feel we might be a bit defensively vulnerable this year, that won't be down to personell

The reason I'd prefer Moses is (besides me being a fan of his) to do with FFP and the homegrown rules, I'm not going to go crazy with explaining why, but I read this season we're fine for homegrown players, but next year when people like Romeu, Hazard, Oscar, Courtois, De Bruyne etc become 21+ it'll get a bit tighter
