Yeah it's a nice thought but since we are chasing the big trophies the chances a young guy from the youth set up would come in to play a significant part is the stuff of dreams sadly.

I'd not sell Lukaku or loan him in England again and I doubt he'd accept another loan either. We need to give him a go or bite the bullet and sell him abroad. I think it really comes down to Lukaku though, he and we know he wont be no 1 from the off so does he knuckle down and force his way in or say "f**k this" and move?

I hope we see Kalas more but I don't see many more coming through, Jose doesnt really like to rotate and I can't see many changes in our pool of players.

If I was a striker and a top club wanted me I'd think the chances of a main striker already there going through the season without injury or suspension is very slim so you will always get your chance...and if you take it then who knows?

I'd just like to see one of these young lads get a chance you just never know, bad example I know but remember when Macheda came in at Man U and won them a couple of games? Those were very important results that helped United win the league title. But I agree Bamford will go out on loan.

I wouldn't want Lukaku to go to another EPL club, I think he'd definitely come back to haunt us and I really think it would be another stupid decision to sell much like the Sturridge one.

Don't watch the championship too much but he only played 12 minutes of both play offs so maybe not too much. Managed 9 goals in the league, not bad if he's not first or even second choice

Torres won’t stay. He's been given his chance and it didn’t work out. Got a feeling he wants to end his time at the Club and won’t hang around. We'll probably be paying to offload him but it's best for all concerned. Torres, Eto'o and  Ba will all be gone.

 

Costa, Lukaku and one other signing. Hopefully it won't be Mandzukic. But I wouldn't be surprised.

played about 25 games I think, went through a few weeks during the run in where he was scoring for fun seemingly. He set up one of the goals in the last play off match after coming from the bench. Good article here on what Mclaren thinks of him:-

Been included in the provisional 30 man squad for the world cup. Quite surprised, didn't think he would be.

I honestly dont understand it.

 

Look at Euro 2012, he scored 3 goals and 1 assist. 2 against Ireland (we're a joke defensively), and then the goal and assist in the final when it was over.

 

Negredo (despite his poor half a season) is probably a better option still.

 

Llorente and Diego Costa are 100% better choices also.

 

Isco has shown real guile, has scored and assisted more than Torres this season. Could play False 9 or deeper. Its shocking decision that Isco isnt in the 23, never mind the 30!

 

I think Torres will make the 23 however. As Paco Alcacer was left out of the squad.

Torres has been included in the Spanish preliminary squad and Ricky Lambert has been included in the English preliminary squad.

 

Neither will get much pitch time. It's a numbers game.

We don't even know if he's going yet, there's a very strong possibility he will see out his contract.

Torres does well for Spain when they are leading and the game is streached he's actually a pretty decent sub to be brought on for the last 20-30 mins if your team is leading and being part of their team knows the players well not as daft as it first seems. Also he is pretty fresh which is a big thing for players in World cups especially in hot climates.

In all fairness Torres plays in a completely different position to Isco, and both of them are behind some excellent players in the hierarchy. I can't imagine Torres will make the final squad; all of the other centre forward options have out-performed him this season: Costa, Villa, Negredo and Llorente.

 

Leaving out Isco seems less scandalous when you look at the attacking midfield alternatives - while he is clearly an excellent player, his omission comes from Spain having an absurd amount of talent in their squad rather than from any particular failure on del Bosque's part.

 

The really terrifying part is that every single one of Spain's midfielders is better than every single one of England's, without exception. The chasm of ability between the two squads is mind-boggling.

Isco very much like Oscar- promising first half of season, average second. Even given Spain's midfield riches you can't count out Koke which means that last spot would've been between Mata and Isco and the former would get the nod based on experience.

Hard to see where Torres fits in that squad. Given there's always the inclination to play Fabregas as false 9 then realistically there's only room for three strikers and that would surely be Costa/Villa/Negredo based on form and style of play.
