JT for interim player coach

Captain leader legend as interim player coach.

Just like the good old days of ruud gullit.

JT has been at the core of a spine of players who have won it all. Cech JT lamps drog.

Michael emelano is doing the technical stuff so send FSW packing and get Terry to sort the players and tactics.

Anyone see him coaching from the sideline behind RDM (think it was 2nd leg napoli)

Am i dreaming or would it be perfect. Anything would be better than waiter

Thoughts and opinions please....

Is this even possible ? Terry doesn't even have all his coaching badges so surely he wouldn't be allowed to do it, or does this rule not apply to interim managers ?

As far as I understand it all Prem managers have to have the UEFA Pro License behind them.

Either way, it won't happen. Not in a million years.

No experience of coaching?

Who gives a sh*t.. He has been learning off the likes of Jose and Carlo etc. he would have picked up a lot of tips and ideas whilst also having the dressing room these players would fight tooth and nail for him.

As a stop gap to save our season I would have him for sure and have Holland as his helper along.

Anything to get rid of the toxic atmosphere that is around the club with FSW there!!

I'd love to see it happen, but can't see it unfortunately. I'm resigned to the fact that we're going to be stuck with the Interim until the end of the season. If he hasn't done enough to warrant the sack already, what more does he have to do?

I can't wait for this season to be over. Hopefully next season we'll have Jose back, Lamps will get his new deal and we will have one of the greatest seasons in the club's history.

glad you read my comments on your other thread about my idea of a player manager, but i nominated lamps because he has less baggage than most.

You can get special dispensation sometimes. Happened with Gareth Southgate, he took over Middlesborough without any badges.

-EDIT- also Paul Ince if I remember correctly.

And rash panic decisions are what got us into this mess to begin with.  I love Terry but he isn't a manager.  What happens if we did it and we're still a shambles because he doesn't have any tactical experience?  Do the players turn on him then?  What about the fans?  Do we stick with him and let him gain that experience at the expense of our CL spot?  Too many "what if's" involved there for my liking.

Its sad that they are scared to sack a crap coach cause it will prove that they made massive mistake sacking good coach.

What kind of situation are we in?

The were happy enough to sack RDM to "move the club in the right direction" so why has the waiter got immunity to this mission statement!!

I found this :

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/middlesbrough/5052126.stm

Go to the bottom and look why they decided it was okay to let Southgate manage Middlesbrough without having a pro license.

"What I'm looking for is judgement in players, tactics and man-management. Gareth also has experience, intellect, character and

determination and I'm happy with my decision."

I think Terry has all these qualities, even when it comes to tactics. He's been a defender and captain for years now, surely he knows about tactics.

Sadly though we are stuck with Benitez, but if the board did ditch him i would give the job to Terry, especially since no managers would come into the club just to take over for a few months.

John Terry is an excellent central defender and brilliant leader.

To use him as an interim player coach would be disasterous!

How do you know unless you try? I'm undecided on the matter, simply because I don't know, neither do you, neither does anyone else. All we can do is speculate.

On the plus side you have his leadership skills; he would undoubtedly command respect from the players. He has also worked under some of the greatest managers in the game, from whom he may well have gathered more than a few ideas on management.

On the negative side, you have his lack of managerial experience and (as yet) qualifications. There would undoubtedly be a massive amount of negative media attention, but we get that anyway

All in all I'd say it's worth a shot. I would be very, very happy if I was to wake up to the news that Benitez had gone, replaced by JT as player manager until the end of the season.

I'd love to see how Terry would do, it would be a throw back to the old days, player / manager, would be cool.

The only danger is he would pick himself for every single game even if he was crippled  :laugh2:
