Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Me personally, I'd invest the money into John Stones and look to rebuild our defence which is in need of an overhaul.

If Hazard goes you've still got enough depth in the squad to not need to "replace" him. Although I'd be inclined to see us revert to 4-3-3 and see us invest in a top quality box to box midfielder.

I think we should scrap the number 10 aswell, I think if we are going to use fabregas, we need a couple of box to box players next to him.

I'm not sure on stones though, I think ake is good enough to come in at left back, and with Zouma, and azpiliucueta, I think we would be best trying to sign a more experienced centre back, as neither cahill or ivanovic are good enough imo.

If Eden knuckles down this summer and comes back ready for the first game of next season (none of this being quiet for the first few months which is just an excuse for him getting fat over summer) and puts everything on the pitch like he was last season then f course he'll get our backing. Some people want to look for Machiavellian scheming or something more sinister in the fans getting on his back but we're really not that complex.

Commitment.

That's it. Commitment to the club so you're not talking about how flattering other clubs' attention is. Commitment to your own fitness so you're putting yourself in the best position to succeed for the fans. Commitment to each moment you're on the field so that you're doing best by your teammates. Commitment to the shirt.

Do that and we'll lionise you. Don't and you can go.

But he doesn't need to be the focus of our summer. The focus should be on the side that Conte wants to build and if he doesn't fit that system (and I have reservations that he's a Conte-type of player) then we'll replace you with ones who are. I agree completely with ForeverCarefree that the defence, the spine of the team, is the most important thing to rejuvenate this year. We need those foundations to build everything else on and we need to get the ethic right. I like Conte's work ethic, I don't like Hazard's. It might be that Hazard either changes or he leaves and in if that is the case then the coach needs 100% support.

OK, here's the logic for you. Jose deserves respect because for 5 years he delivered for this club. He achieved 3 premier league titles, earned himself the reputation of being the best manager in the world and he fought for this club, defending us against media attacks, perceived refereeing injustices, repeatedly stated his love for this club even when he wasnt our manager etc etc

Eden Hazard had 1 great season, got named player of the year and promptly went on the holiday of a lifetime before turning up for pre-season overweight, underperforming for the entire season so far and speaking in numerous interviews about other clubs he would like to play for.

There is a significant difference in the levels of respect that these 2 men deserve, just as there is a clear and obvious difference in the attitudes of the 2 men towards Chelsea FC.

Mourinho made mistakes this year. There is no argument against that. But Hazard has been equally detrimental to our season. If you choose to disrespect Mourinho and support Hazard, that's your choice. But it's certainly not mine

hmm..

Asked about the deterioration in his son’s form, Hazard Snr pointed to the injury problems which have hampered him since the end of last year, when he was kicked by Jamie Vardy in a loss at Leicester City which proved to be José Mourinho’s final match in charge. “Eden’s lack of form is due to an injury, an inflammation in the hip, that he’s been carrying now for three or four months,” he said in an interview with the Belgian newspaper Le Soir. “It’s not a bad injury, but when the pain appears, it feels like a stabbing. It’s feels like a knife is stabbed in it.

“He was feeling the pain early in the game [against Leicester] and that’s why he has asked for a substitution. Instead of giving Eden a time to overcome the injury and have a proper rest, they push him to play because they have some important games... So he has no choice... Which player hasn’t had highs of lows in his career? It’s the first time in his professional career that he’s confronted with a difficult period. He’s not machine, as we know.”

PSG, together with Real Madrid, have been heavily linked with a move for the player at the end of the season, speculation fuelled by an interview the 25-year-old conducted with Le Parisien last month in which he declared his admiration for the Ligue 1 champions. But Chelsea, who tied Hazard down last year to a new £200,000-a-week contract which extends to 2020, have no desire to sell and will resist ay offers for his signature.

“Eden has never said he wanted to play for PSG,” said Thierry Hazard, whose son had unwisely swapped shirts with Ángel Di María at half-time on Wednesday night. “He’s just confirmed that PSG have become a big club and that every player would like to play for clubs of that level. Eden has a contract until 2020. It’s out of question that he’ll leave the club at the moment.”

It’s not a bad injury, but when the pain appears, it feels like a stabbing. It’s feels like a knife is stabbed in it.

I can see the Mourinho fan-club choking on their cornflakes at that choice of wording!!

I always enjoy that time of the season when players' reps say things like 'he has a contract until 20xx so couldn't possibly leave'. Yeah ok mate.

He couldn't possibly leave the club at the moment is a very true statement. The window is shut. Textbook answer, completely factual, completely meaningless. Now he's just got to teach his son how to give non-answers.

ha ha, I was wondering if that choice of words was a not so subtle shot.

Guus has just stated in his press conference that Hazard will be fit to play vs Everton...Did he get injured vs PSG? Or did he just give up and couldn't bare to humiliate himself in front of his possible new employers? Makes sense especially as he swapped his shirt with Di Maria at half time...maybe knowing himself he wasn't going to play the whole game?

Yes. Put the tinfoil hat away.

What have you done with our most important Belgian player?

We need him in France!!!

Please, let him go!

Please, please, please!!!!

(Another point of view.)

I'm not at all surprised that Thibaut and Eden aren't close friends.

Thibaut has had conflicts with other players. Marc Wilmots even seriously considered dropping him from the squad.

I don't know if there is political tension among the Belgian players, but it's certainly plausible. Eden is from Wallonia, and Thibaut is from Flanders. The two parts nearly split a few years ago. Belgium didn't have a government for 6 months because of the divide. A Belgian I know very well said that it's only a matter of time that Flanders secedes. The divide is both linguistic and economic. Flanders is a good deal wealthier and doesn't like how much of their tax money is going to Wallonia.

It makes sense that Eden is friends with Kurt and Remy and that Drogba was his major mentor as they share a common native language.

Thank you, mate!

I had groin and hip injury which stopped me playing for full 12 months, not sure how much of Hazard snrs quotes are true, or whether he is trying to protect his son, but from experience, a hip injury cam be a real nightmare.

I think if the club has been putting off surgery, now would be the perfect time to do it, he would be back for the last couple of games, and hopefully the euros will get him up to full fitness heading into the season.

I believe his dad that he is carrying a long term injury and said it before, he hasn't been moving freely for months. That being said players are expected to play through pain and have injections and still run themselves into the ground at risk of exacerbating it (read: every English Arsenal player)

From what I can see he is afraid of applying himself 100% physically and now prefers a passing game, he's definitely more afraid of getting whacked 100 times a match so we rarely see him make his signature runs which invite tackles.

He needs rest, I hope Belgium get knocked out in the Euros quickly so he has a chance to come back next season as the top player he is.
