Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Featured Replies

Thoroughly deserved and delighted that JT got recognition too.

But.... Media agenda? No? Anyone?

Giving this award to someone who has lit up the PL this season, and who was patently a shoe in for It hardly outweighs the the rest of the 'Anti Chelsea stuff that has come from the general media now does it BD ?.. You are such a scallywag where the media is concerned.. Come on, come clean... which paper/media outlet did you/do you work for ??

The Football Writers' Association player of the year award?

But how dos this mean there wasn't a media agenda earlier on the season? Also did anyone say it was ever the whole media? No they didn't. It was more an attack on particular people at Sky Sports when we were saying that anyway. But if you don't think certain people in all parts of the media have an agenda then you're delusional.

Never been shy to admit that I've worked in the media but this just confirms what I've been saying all along - the media is made up of individuals who each have their own opinion (or try to for the sake of their own career) and that means you'll get some people who do have something against us.

As it is Eden got over half the vote and JT came in third. Plus it was nice to see Branna, Cesc and Thibaut get some votes too.

Then why was it 'the media' and a 'media agenda' and not just Jamie Redknapp being singled out?

It's utter tosh to suggest that it wasn't. Go read the thread and see me and a few others actually talking about specific journalists whilst others made it out like it was the media as a whole. f**k's sake, the rewriting of history is quite something.

Anyway, congrats to Eden for his double award. Well deserved and hopefully Jose gets the Managers' award.

Indeed. But if Leicester stay up I see it going to that total sociopath Pearson.

I think you're right. Koeman has fallen off, Monk is probably not in it and Pardew is probably out of it too because of Palace's recent form.

Of course there's always Carver but he might be too good for such an award.  :laugh2:

Leaves Pearson and Jose. Comes down to who has surpassed more people's expectations - Jose for winning the title in one of the weaker years or Pearson for staying up when the other two promoted teams have gone straight back down?

Then why was it 'the media' and a 'media agenda' and not just Jamie Redknapp being singled out?

Cause it's wasn't just Jamie Redknapp saying things, Carragher, Souness and Sky Sports a News in particular pushing things like the Costa incidents. Yet they didn't do the same when Toure did something similar did they?

Why get so angry about it? You're the one who can't let the whole media agenda go. End of the day we get slaughtered way more than most teams when things happen in all sides of the media. Just because our player of the year got an award from the papers doesn't mean they don't like to push the negatives about the club.

Yup.

They has 'COSTA CRIMES' in the breaking news bit after the game etc.

It was pathetic

Pearson surely won't win it, he was awful for most of the season. His 'ridiculous behaviour' won't help either. The recovery has been very impressive but Leicester went on massive losing streaks at various points in the season. Their squad is decent too, they shouldn't really ever have been in the bottom three. Pearson has basically saved Leicester from himself.

Comes down to what is the greater achievement.

City and Arsenal can both finish the season with a maximum of 79 points in 2nd which is sh*t to be honest. That suggests it's been a poor season, as do other factors. Leicester on the other hand were one of the favourites to go down. It's a tough call.

Yeah, it depends on how they measure it. If they're going on actual performance compared to expected performance then it's likely to be someone like Koeman or Monk. I suppose the problem is that neither side's season has been particularly dramatic, they knew they'd be mid-table or thereabouts months ago and have consequently eased off, whereas a last-gasp trophy win/top 4/survival from relegation simply looks a lot more impressive, even if the reason it is last-gasp is due to previous failings. I suppose late-season performances probably have a greater weight too, which isn't particularly fair. In the same vein, I suppose the way we strolled to the title rather than having a proper challenger might detract from Mourinho's chances of winning it too, even though that is in reality more impressive than winning it dramatically on the last day, even if it is far less exciting. Pardew could be in with a shout I suppose, the combined results of Newcastle and Palace under his tenure would be in the top half I imagine.

I agree that the standard has generally been quite poor this season though, there aren't really many standout candidates.

I don't believe in the conspiracy theories but you can't deny that Costa's suspension was media driven. Sky's reaction to it was shocking because it was against Liverpool their gloryful team.

Remember when Toure slapped and kicked Mata? Not many people do because no one ever mentions it, Sky didn't even bother to mention it themselves, you're telling me if Costa did that against any side he wouldn't be thrown under the bus? Very unlikely.

That's the point I'm making, I agree there isn't a media campaign for everything but that was a situation where there was a clear campaign to get Costa banned.

It has got to the point where I don't blame Sky, I don't blame any football teams, I blame the F.A.

They did this, they never make consistent decisions, they only make a decision when it is a big talking point just to calm down the masses. F.A. is the biggest culprit in all this bollocks, to why so many players get away with it and some don't. They gave the media that power, if you want to point the finger look no further than the F.A.

But by all means yes Jamie Redknapp can also f**k off.

Remember when Sky deliberately replayed the Drogba 'f*ckin disgrace' outburst which had happened during their ad break and then apologised? Or replaying Essien's tackle on Hamman 500 times in two days. Nope, no agenda at all.

But anyway, well done Eden. Well deserved.

The FA need to have a set of rules in place if you do this you get this length of ban & a fine. None of this we'll make it up as we go along bullsh*t.

They're a laughing stock.

I wouldn't mind him missing the next 2 games, so others could step up and we would find out how we cope without him. However I think he has the trait of top players, you have to lock him inside a cage to stop him from playing and competing
