Yesterday was when the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council was due to make a decision on the redevelopment of Earl's Court. Nothing yet on the council website about a decision. I'll keep checking and will post on here if a decision is made.

Earls Court £10bn rebuild gets full green light

Enabling works for the first phase of London’s £10bn Earls Court regeneration will start next year after both local boroughs signed off the hybrid planning application for  the vast site.

The 44-acre scheme, led by the Earls Court Development Company on behalf of Delancey, APG and Places for London, landed full backing from Kensington & Chelsea this week following unanimous approval in Hammersmith & Fulham late last month.

So then, they want the site but not all of it and cannot find a partner to buy the rest of the land?

Must be obvious they long ago gave up interest in getting us a new stadium, or at least clearlake did. Money for this they could have funded. This site was the only local option. They did not.

I guess the Bridge is all they need to make their stakeholders their cut.

They can't negotiate a deal for a front of shirt sponsor and we expect them to negotiate to get Stamford Bridge rebuilt at Earl's Court? They are not really interested or they would have been all over it already.

Chelsea retain interest in Earl’s Court but do not want to be pressed into a deal and want to be sure that it is financially and logistically viable.

They've only had a few years to decide if it's "financially and logistically viable". One thing's for sure: the dithering means the price has gone up.

The estimated value of the land is expected to rise from £500m to £750m with planning permission in place.

£250m increase in price? That's four Gittens.

I'll take your four Gittens and raise you a Cole Palmer and 3 years of front of shirt sponsorship LOL

We've shown NO interest in Earl's Court, to the point that we didn't even offer any proposals to the Mayors Office when we were invited to do so. At the present, no one is pressing them into a deal, there simply isn't one .

I agree with you i.e. the owners have no intention to build a new stadium or redevelop the current one. If they can find a way of making more money from the current stadium and match going fans e.g. through the shop, bars and cafes they will. They've already started with more tickets going to corporates and tourist agencies; selling seats behind the dug-out; and dining in the dressing room the night before the game as they did with the match against Everton. It will be interesting to see what happens with Stoll Mansions. Will probably be turned into a hotel and/or conference centre. I'm a cynical old bastard.

I'd love to be proved wrong but if a move or redevelopment takes place it will be well into the future and I'll be in the great football ground/pub/book shop in the sky.

It’s commercial suicide for any exit plan they might have to not build/ re develop the stadium.

Increasing prices will hardly scratch the surface to what the Emirates and 3 point lane bring in.

Having said that there doesn’t seem to be anything going on and that’s a worry.

I also think that's now got to the point where it could be even more concerning if they do become active. The available real estate in the area has now gone as once again their bold, strategic promises at the outset haven proven to be hollow. If they did start to actively search for a new site, guaranteed it would way out of the area and they would look to relocate the club. This type of move means nothing to Americans, having no concept of heritage, community, and the tribal nature of football.

They can't get a FOS sponsor deal, let alone something like a new stadium.

Getting real concerned in ten years time we are going to be permanently out of the equation for major honours.

6th biggest club now for finances and no clear route to changing that.

Well in that time the loans they took to buy us, and put over a billion of debt on us, from Ares management and JP Mogan/bank of America, will have come due and who knows where that leaves us.

The stake holders like Wyss, Goldstein and Walter's will also have been expecting their profits too.

BlueCo may well have had to sell...

The latest Chelsea Pitch Owners newsletter:

CPO News April 2026 Thank you to those who were able to attend the CPO AGM at the end of January or join us online. As always, the Board appreciates the constructive feedback from shareholders and will follow up where possible on the specific initiatives that were suggested. Details of the AGM and the voting, including the Chair’s statement can be viewed via the link below.

One significant change to the company’s Articles, approved by shareholders at the AGM, was the creation of a ‘C’ share. This classification will be used for all the shares belonging to shareholders with whom we have lost contact and are unable to communicate. The ‘C’ share has no voting rights. This change has been made following consultation with Computershare, who are about to assume the maintenance of our shareholder register, and subsequent extensive legal advice. It is designed to protect the integrity of the shareholder database in the event of a shareholder vote. We will continue to try to trace the shareholders that we have lost contact with and, as and when we do so, their shares will be reassigned to their original ‘A’ or ‘B’ status with the appropriate voting rights. We will be in touch again soon with further details of how the new share management system will operate.

If you have received communication from us recently, for example relating to the last AGM, , then you are not affected. If you are aware of shareholders who have not received any communication from us, please advise them to email [email protected] to check that we have the right contact details for them.

Feedback from the AGM is valuable for the Board to understand what is important to shareholders. One such recommendation this year was that holders of ‘B’ shares be given the opportunity to pay the balance to convert to an ‘A’ share. The Board has unanimously agreed to this, and we will announce shortly how this process will work.

It was also suggested that shareholders be encouraged to leave a legacy to CPO in their wills. Whilst appreciating the delicacy of the subject, we note the prevalence of similar appeals on behalf of various organisations across the media. If you able to do so, please consider CPO as a part of your will writing process.

One question at the AGM needs further clarification in relation to our answer. Does CPO have any influence over the location of a temporary home in the event of the Club moving out of Stamford Bridge while it is redeveloped? The answer remains ‘no’ as to the exact location, however it should have been emphasised that CPO would have to give its consent for ‘home’ matches to be played away from Stamford Bridge. Apologies for not making this clearer at the time.

We have a number of shares signed by former players or that have older images which we are offering for £100 plus postage. Email [email protected] for more details.

Finally, as we have stated many times, nothing can or will be decided on the stadium without the involvement of the shareholders. We will communicate all relevant information as and when it becomes available for discussion. In the meantime, thanks for your support. Please continue to spread the word about CPO and encourage friends, family and fellow fans to buy shares and merchandise.

Possibly off subject but posting as there could be an impact on the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge. As of next season the Chelsea Women's team will play all of it's league matches at the Bridge. Up until now only four league games and all Champions League matches have been played at Stamford Bridge with the other matches taking place at Kingsmeadow.

Attendances for the women's games at Kingsmeadow and Stamford Bridge vary; I think that the biggest attendance at the Bridge for a women's match was about 32,000 when they played Arsenal a few seasons ago. If attendances grow and that could be it's easier to travel to Stamford Bridge than it is to get to Kingsmeadow and with the growth in popularity of the women's game in recent years there could be implications for local residents e.g. more road closures. As such residents could be less keen on a redevelopment of the Bridge with more matches being played there. There will be 32 league matches - 19 for the men and 13 for the women - in addition to European matches and cup games. There could be up to fifty matches assuming that both the men and women qualify for Europe and progress in their respective competitions. Yes, there will be more money going into the ground and some of the local businesses e.g. the pubs and cafes will benefit but what will be the impact on the residents and the redevelopment. There is also the impact on the scheduling of games and will more matches re-arranged to accommodate European matches and the broadcasters. Could be a nighmare.

I have season tickets for both the men's and women's teams and will sound out people around me when I'm next at Stamford Bridge and Kingsmeadow. More at the link below.

Chelsea FC Women to call Stamford Bridge home: A new era...

It seems to me to be a logistical nightmare for arranging matches so both the women and men can use the same ground,

Is the groundsmen okay wih this too?

It might have been better to have made the women's bigger matches at SB rather than all.

Arsenal seem to manage to coordinate men's and women's home games at Emirates.

Do you think this might mean the Kingsmeadow stadium will be sold ? I always thought the council held the freehold but looking into it just now it looks like Chelsea or one of our companies owns the freehold? .

Saw this on X....

"Chelsea men's sold the Kingsmeadow stadium buildings to Chelsea women's only for Chelsea women's to then decide they will play all their games at Chelsea men's stadium? And Chelsea women's will have to pay rent to Chelsea men's Stamford Bridge for each game. Cool."

Not sure if Kingsmeadow will be sold as some of the academy and youth teams play there. Unless they end up playing their games at Cobham. Downside of that would be getting there as I don't think it's served by public transport. I know the youth teams played a few games at the Bridge back in the day but with both the women and men playing at the Bridge not sure if Hammersmith and Fulham Council would allow other matches to be played there.

If Kingsmeadow is sold can see developers building houses and/or flats on the site.
