June 8, 201412 yr A shame. A signing like a potential move for Suarez- undoubtedly talented player, would undoubtedly improve our team but is a real nasty twat that associated with both Arsenal and Barcelona, of all clubs. Success should never come at the expense of a club's standards and chasing a cheating, diving twat who has lambasted our club in the past is a disgraceful move in my book, I don't care how good he is. First of all, he isn't a 'nasty twat', he isn't known to be a particularly dirty player. Chelsea fans love/loved David Luiz who wasn't an angel on the pitch. Secondly, Ashley Cole was associated with Arsenal. Thirdly, he hasn't criticised our club, if you believe the quote that is doing rounds on twitter about permission to kill him if he ever wears a Chelsea shirt, then please don't be so gullible. Just a little bit of research will show you that he never said that. Finally, about the diving part, we had and have a fair amount of players who like to hit the ground a little bit too easily (notable examples include Drogba and Oscar).
June 8, 201412 yr Can we please stop saying that Mata and Fabregas are similar players? They are nothing alike. They are both Spanish, thats pretty much it Edited June 8, 201412 yr by Xfaxtor

June 8, 201412 yr I don't think he's anything like Mata tbh.He isn't anything like mata, no idea how anyone can say he's a carbon copy.
June 8, 201412 yr Would not be surprised if he goes elsewhere, we keep hearing rumours that the deal is done, that he's signed…..deal where? signed what? announcements, Monday, now Tuesday; utter bollocks, now supposedly City are after him, so until he puts on that blue shirt or we get a photo of him signing anything I won't be holding my breath….same with Costa.
June 8, 201412 yr I'm weary about this simply because last year we put all out eggs in a homegrown player, looking to move, who the fans had mixed views on. We then spent the entire window ignoring other targets to see him signing an improved contract at his current club.

Take it you hated having the drog at chelsea to? He dived and play acted but he was f**king brilliant and scored goals for fun! What has fabregas done that is different to that? He hasn't spat at anyone or bitten anyone. Get over yourself and just accept we are signing a fantastic player! Sure he has dived in the past but I wouldn't call him a prolific diver

June 8, 201412 yr I don't think he's anything like Mata tbh.No pace, no strenght, good eye for a pass(long or short), good accurate shot, great vision, good first touch, good at dribbling...applies for both players.

June 8, 201412 yr Probably but two very similar players playing in the same spot. He wouldn't occupy one of the CM/DM spot..
June 8, 201412 yr Im honestly not sure if this is serious or not Brb every player whos not a physical speciment and is strong on the ball are carbon copies of eachother. Edited June 8, 201412 yr by Xfaxtor
June 8, 201412 yr Fabregas is much more robust and athletic then mata, not saying he's an Essen or yaya style specimen but he will put him self about a lot more then mata. I am one of those that would still like to see Mata here by the way but they don't occupy the same position, fabregas will play deeper
June 8, 201412 yr Marvin Humes (Chelsea fan) on soccer aid: "Jose told me secrets about next season and it's looking good" Haha just thought I'd put this in here, interesting Nice one, had mo idea he was a Chelsea fan

IMO Fabregas has a far better engine than Mata and he gets about the pitch a lot quicker than Juan. They are both very creative and can pick a pass out of nothing but I think Fabregas is a bigger threat on goal plus the fact he done the business in central midfield and can also play further up as we saw at Barca. Yes they may have similar attributes but they are far off carbon copies of each other, Fabregas would be a huge upgrade in our central midfield whereas Mata has to play further up.
June 8, 201412 yr One possibility is that Cesc might track-back more often that Mata did. Nothing against Juan Mata but he wasn't the most aggressive player, Cesc might "MIGHT" be better in that regard.

Would he play one of the anchor spots in our system? 4-2-3-1..if not I don't see a big difference between the two. Jose's never tried Oscar in one of those spots although most of us think he'd do a great job there. Well all in all Jose knows best so I'm not questioning him...

Jose's never tried Oscar in one of those spots although most of us think he'd do a great job there. Well all in all Jose knows best so I'm not questioning him... I'd think he'd play beside Matic with Oscar or someone else ahead of them. He done it in central midfield for Arsenal for years and he was fantastic at it. With Barcelona and Spain he's been played further forward to mixed results. He's a player who can play in a few positions and I think that will impress Mourinho plus I feel he's a harder worker/grafter than Mata who often went Into hiding when we were not attacking. I just don't think they are the same type of players but that's just my view, plenty have the same view as you.
June 8, 201412 yr Financially a great piece of business if it happens but I struggle to see how he will fit in next to Matic...rather than comparing him to Mata surely comparing him to Sir Frank is more relevant.... Here I struggle ... And they don't even share the same nationality.
June 8, 201412 yr Author Those seasons before he left for barca, ithought Fabregas was immense, running from deep loads of pace Skill and finish, he could do that, can he still...
June 8, 201412 yr Ok. So Cesc is a CM? Not an AM..? If that is the case he is the type of player we should be looking for. I don't really watch Barcelona so what do I know. He was excellent for Arsenal that I can remember. AM's we don't need. We have plenty.
