Memorable CFC Moments

Featured Replies

As a fairly new American CFC fan, interested to see what people view as some of the memorable moments in the clubs history. Obviously, the obvious moments we all know, but I am thinking more in terms of goals, moments, etc. Can be for CFC or against, I just want to know as much as I can about the club.

Before you type to crack a joke at me, just move on to another topic! No time for hate!

Rambo's equalizer vs. Barca when a man down.  Ivan's looping header goal in the Europa league final.  JT's header goal in that memorable Cl semi vs. Barca.  Cech's great saves vs. Bayern in the CL final.   Lamps two goals at the end of last season, equaling and breaking the Chelsea goal scoring record (and getting us into third place).  Essien's strike vs. Barca (alas, too bad that Iniesta got that last-minute goal).  Any of a dozen or so of Drogba's goals in important matches (including the last kick he made for us in the CL final).  Alex's thunderbolt free kick goal against I forget which team.  Any of A. Cole's about a half-dozen or so clearances off the line.  Wayne Bridge's goal against Arsenal.  Gronks goal against Liverpool that got us into 4th place and probably was the reason why Roman purchased Chelsea and not some other team.   Should I go on?

In no particular order.

5-0 down to Man Utd several years ago in the FA Cup. Graeme Le Saux with a delightful chip (similar to Lampard's against Hull a few years back) over Schmeichel's head. A great loss in my opinion. We came back and scored 3 goals to make the score somewhat respectable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUhdQJmgwiU

Zola's magical near post flick against Norwich http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s-WJxeH6Uo

Gudjohnsen against Leeds. Enough said http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e560WPbws1c

Alex's free kick against Liverpool. I watched this match at home and we were 2-0 down at half time? Went to the pub for the 2nd half and one of the most memorable nights as a Chelsea supporter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ9F-wGem8Q

Yuri Zhirkov's goal against Spartak Moscow. I've always liked Zhirkov, thought he was a good player. One of the best goals I've seen in the CL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIAcLUpbI7E

Essien's vs Arsenal. Probably all Chelsea fans were praying Essien to not shoot when they see him preparing to. But bloody hell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb2SDM8cgqU

Essien's Vs Barca. Should have been the goal to win us what would have been one of the most memorable nights in our history.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyJUrpElkUs

That's only a small portion... I can think of so many more.

Winning the FA Cup for the first time " in my life " in 97. Playing for the first time in the Champions League in 99, after an amazing season. Signing Frank and bringing J.T up through the ranks in 2000. Getting a new owner in 2003, the first new all out owner in 21 years. Watching the Manure players HATING having to give us a guard of honour in 2005 " i think ".

If you're a new Chelsea fan there is 1 game that in my opinion is mandatory viewing, and that is the 4-1 win over Napoli in 2012, never have I seen so much heart or passion in a teams performance.

The guard of honour was fantastic.  We're blessed with so many great moments to be honest.

Chelsea V Middlesbrough, FA Cup Final 1997. I was 10 years old and had only been following Chelsea for a year.

Then, Di Matteo struck, 43 seconds BANG! Will never forget it!

Full Members Cup 1986. First trophy In my lifetime, brilliant feeling.

This is my first real memory of Chelsea, I was not quite five at the time, but I remember watching it on TV with my dad. I was made to watch the first half in my room on a Black and White TV because I was sick and not allowed out of bed, but my dad came and got me at half time and let me watch the rest with him.

There are 2 for me to have to pick...The first one was when , on a gloriously wettish night at old trafford, a ball was pumped over to a diving Osgood to score a goal in front of thousands of baying chelsea folk in the stretford end....You know the one ....The second always makes me cry...I start crying as soon as torres picks up the ball and goes on a long run and rounds the barca keeper......I wanna cry now thinking of it

The CL run of 2011-12 transcends anything else as a Chelsea viewing experience in my eyes.

The 3-0 win against Valencia to ensure we progressed past the group stages, the unbelievable tie against Napoli at home where we showed such passion to go out and win, that semi final, no words for that one except heroes, and then finally beating Bayern Munich in their own back yard, on penalties! Ramires' chip, Torres rounding Valdez, Drogba powering in that header, Luiz staring down the Bayern fans after his penalty, Lampard staring right into Neuer's eyes. Nostalgia overload. So much more can be said about that run that I could never hope to sum up in this post.

I had never believed in destiny until that moment, it was truly meant to be after what happened in Moscow. 19/05/12.

Aside from that, our double winning year was orgasmic. We literally obliterated teams on our way to the PL trophy, and Carlo was such a likeable guy. That trophy parade was so much fun to be at.

My first truly special moment with Chelsea was the 1997 FA Cup win however. Di Matteo, Zola, legends...

I could be here all day.

Can't remember beating man utd 5- 0 at old trafford when was that? unless you meant 5-0 at the bridge in 2000.

I agree 97 was top drawer also my first experience of Chelsea winning the FA cup and at a time when it was still special. The 2007 FA cup win was sweet revenge as I had suffered so much to their muppet fans in 94. For me the most memorable was the 1986 full members final my first time at Wembley with Chelsea, a day never to forget.
