Mario Balotelli

Bump...

have to say I still feel this man is the best option around in terms of talent and availability.

26 goals from 7 starts this season, still only 23. And its accepted that Costa is nuts any way, why not this nut bar ?

Were are you getting these stats from?

From what I can tell he scored 16 from 31 games, with 7 coming as a sub.

Off course unless he scored 10 goals in domestic cups, that seems a bit short.

Adding to his penalties, he scored the same amount of goals as Gervinho. Call me a skeptic, but I dont think theres any way Balotelli would "guarantee goals". And thats me not even getting into the types of teams he scored against.

As for comparing him to Costa, while yes they are both nutters, Costa is really a different kind. He will always give 110% for the team and does absolutely everything (often too much) to win. While Balotelli doesnt give a sh*t about anyone but himself, and his antics often involve him moping around for 90 minutes doing f**k all.

Moot point though, there is no way Balotelli ever plays for us lol

18 from 40 appearances actually, 14 yellows and a red aswell. Not exactly great stats.

Almost a goal every two games for the worst Milan side in living memory... I would say he did quite well.

If we were to have one nutter it would be Costa for me.

Balotelli it's a loose cannon and would disrupt our dressing room IMO.

sorry typo - meant to say 37 starts... missed the 3... still 27 goals and stats are coming from here

I will agree with xfactor that one of the biggest problems with Mario is that if the team has its back against the wall. im not sure he wouldn't go hiding as well where as with costa you get the feeling he will put it all on the line... the answer... we buy both.

I think Mario is the more talented of the two

Balotelli and Cost...just imagine the press sh*tstorm lol

With those two we would win the title IMO.

Ahh ok. Its still not this season though. He scored 12 in 12 when he moved from City last year, half of them were penalties. He has 14 this year.

So all in all 16 goals from open play in a season and a half.

will he be starting in the WC?

I couldn't stop looking at this goal, it's brilliant.

The more you watch it, the better it gets... It's a sublime strike.

If a manager could get him fully focused and working hard every game then he could be one of the best 5 strikers in the world in my opinion.

That's the problem, I don't think there is such a manager that can.

he's already been under Jose and he's about the best there is.

He's his own worst enemy.

Not making excuses for him but he was a teenager when Jose had him at Inter, 5 or so years have passed now and I would imagined like most boys he's matured a fair bit in that time.

I don't Mancini has the best man management skill as he is quite a volatile personality himself and I don't think he had the calmness to deal with Mario's.... Shall we say eccentricities.

If Jose were to manage him now, as an adult (24 in August) then if anyone was going to set him on the path to taking the step to being a truly brilliant player, Mourinho could do it.

I'm not saying he would 100% improve and become consistent but the ability and potential is clearly there.... With AC Milan having no European football next season I suppose the question would be is he worth the risk? Would Mourinho have the faith in his own man management abilities to take on Mario again?

I think we should be in for Mario. As you've mentioned he's on the cusp of being a world best or falling off completely. He is the finesse plsyer to counter Lukaku with his brawn and force. Mario can clearly create amazing goals out of nothing and JM most certainly could push him to greatness. Not to mention how racist Seria a (or Italy at large for that matter) has been to him I think he would really enjoy London and being back in the epl in general. Also wouldnt mind seeing his celebrations against city when he scores!

The difference between Balotelli and Costa is that they are both nutters on the pitch but Balotelli is one off the pitch as well. However, Costa seems quite determined and professional off the pitch.

I think the biggest problem with his is when he isnt on a football pitch. In England he got bored which is never a good thing for a young man with lots of money.

I would like for us to sign him because he is an amazing footballer but i would always be worried that there would be some kind of drama waiting around the corner.

Mario's been racially abused again, this time outside the Italian training camp by a group of men directing racist chants at him.

Horrible.

Why are people so hateful and horrible?

Prison for racists is what should happen.

That story makes me think of the scene in Tarantino's True Romance with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper, where he talks about the origins of Italian people.

Don't know if what he says is true, but if so them racially abusing Mario is a bit stupid (not that it isn't anyway).

That's what I was really hoping for a few months back, he's such a talented player you just want to believe that he will come here and nothing bad will happen, sadly I just can't see that being the case.

I'm a fan of Mario, he's pure entertainment and for the most part his eccentricities on the pitch are harmless, he's the kind of player that makes me want to watch a game of football just to see what he comes up with.

His disciplinary record is poor, but that's nothing to be concerned with as he can improve on that. It's just the media will absolutely crucify him over here, he will do the slightest thing and they will be on his back, and Mario will not react well with that, he appears to always take action into his own hands.

Thing is though if he did actually come over here, then I would trust that Mourinho would be able to deal with him, otherwise he would never take the risk. From what I've gathered on Mourinho, he said at Inter that Mario was unmanageable, but after he left Inter he said in his own documentary that Mario was great fun and a good character. So who knows what will happen, can't rule anything out I suppose.

sorry, but getting sent off and fighting it out with your teammates over whos gonna take the free kick is hardly harmless
