Right, I've just had a dose of inspiration. I haven't played FM in months, it's been amazing, I've been completely 'clean'...

 

But. Uni starts in two weeks and I have to have one last FM binge before I hang up my trench coat/tracksuit/whiteboard/orange cones forever and sail off into the sunset.

 

So, my binge? Well, it's a bit silly, and it's a bit crazy. I've only got a week to really get into it so I shan't be starting low. I shall be starting high, in fact, I shall be starting with an essentially unlimited budget.

 

The catch? Well, It's quite simple: I can only sign Scandinavian players. If a player doesn't come from Sweden, Norway or Denmark then I can't sign him. I also have to sell all non-Scandinavian first team players immediately, and work on replacing the youth ranks with Scandinavian players over a couple of seasons.

 

In this FMverse a slightly (read: extremely) eccentric Norwegian billionaire has taken over a club with dreams of dominating world football with Scandinavian players, and I'm the man to deliver the goods. I simply need to decide on a club to start with...

Loved some of your older posts in this thread, Lofty, look forward to your new escapades too. Can you still sign Finnish or Icelandic players?

I've decided against including Iceland/Finland.

I'm back to my Chelsea game....dominating a bit. Really I'm seeing how good I can make my regens. I splashed out a mammoth 51million on a RB who I'd been tracking since he was 17. He was at Real Madrid and they just wouldn't sell him. Paid his release. He's been great ever since though, so that's a plus. He is a 5 star player. I don't often spend big on players, but with an enormous budget, when I do go big...I can go enormous. My 3 big signings are now 51mil, 45mil, 31mil.

 

I also dipped a toe into the international scene. I went for Germany, they told me to f**k off (harsh on a world class manager with tons of trophies to his name), before the less impressive Switzerland tripped over their own feet in their haste to hire me.

Does anyone know if the new patch is out yet with the Jan transfers? Must admit that I got bored of FM and haven't played it in months. If the Jan transfer have been added though then I'll be tempted to start a new game.

I wonder how much of the Mata money I'll be allowed to spend.

You can get unofficial ones from the FM fan sites and SI. 

 

Won't be an official one until mid march. Lots of new match engine tweaks too.

I've finally managed to give this game at least 2 seasons and it's fair to say I really dislike the game.

 

I think I might go back to FM 13, this one is just to different. What annoys me most is that your strikers get so many oppertunities but they just don't score at all.

I find it hard to get really prolific strikers...they have brilliant stats, but struggle to average more than 7.10 (which means they're not playing badly, but nowhere near good enough to get a goal a game). Previous instalments had my strikers scoring for fun.

 

Nevertheless, I have enjoyed 14.

Out of all the teams to manage on Football Manager, every year Chelsea is always is the easiest. Especially this one since you get a good strong budget to buy lots of young players, and you have the older players to train the youth! I managed to get Lorenzo Insigne to score 15 goals from right wing in his first season

Tried again. Got bored after 1 friendly. Used to really enjoy manager games, like FM, CM, LMA Manager, etc... would play them for hours and hours. I just hgave no interest any more.

I haven't bought a manager game since Total Club Manager 2004 with Martin O'Neill on the front. Anyone remember it? I played that for years and occasionally still play it now, must have accumulated thousands of hours of playing it over the years. 

 

I have some free time now, and I'm going to buy a management game. Is there much difference between FM 13 and FM 14? Bearing in mind the price difference is £15 (£3 and £18) which is a large proportion of my budget, being a student!

I have taken Forest Green Rovers from the bottom of the blue square league to the Championship winning the league each season on my way up. I almost got into the play offs in the championship but West Brom beat me on the last day of the season and they took my spot.

I wasnt too sad though was we were not ready to go up and would have been destroyed in the premier league. This season we have better players and are more ready. I have Joe Cole, Alex and had Ricky C for a little while before he suddenly retired.

I downloaded a database from SI forums recently.

 

The top 6 (City, Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham) are wiped of any players and finance. Fast forward 10 years and we're at the bottom of the Championship with hardly any decent players. Just got us back into the prem. No Roman so I'm doing it the hard way!

Pretty interesting. I wonder how well this will work for clubs that begin to use FM to scout players? Maybe that's what Ferguson actually did when they signed Bebe?

Good luck to them. I used to sign Diego Renan as a wonder kid for years as he was the next big thing.

He's now 24 and on his second loan.

Back in 2003/04 Total Club Manager I used to sign Reuven Oved when he was 19 and he always became the best player in the world within a couple of years. Looked him up recently and he's currently playing in the 4th Division in Israel. Depressing.

I swear clubs use it already.

 

Keep an eye out for Lucas Romero. He's an argentinan midfielder. Give it a few years and he'll be at a big club.

I hated this FM 14 but since the patch came out it's actually playable again, so I've been enjoying my Chelsea career... obviously.

I have this game on my PS Vita and its just impossible and not at all enjoyable to play. Some people have said it is better after an update but im not sure if there is an update for the PS Vita. Does anyone know if there is or not? Help.

I have the 2014, and I'm playing it as Nottingham Forest.  It seems that no matter what I do, these guys are the most incompetent morons on the face of the planet.  I give the instructions that the assistants suggest that I give, and it seems that they don't want to listen. I also notice that if they get transferred, the club of choice is Celtic.

I have it on tablet (Pyle Astro, a cheap knockoff Android tablet), and it sucks.  It seems like I can two things on it: diddly and squat.

Gotta say that when FM2015 comes out I will have to stop myself from getting the In-Game editor. Just ruined the whole things for me.
