Lots of debate about this on the torres thread so thought I'd get a poll going

And with that I went for Andre but my second option is Eto'o

Schurrle

Hard to pick one because of a problem with consistency with all of them.

 

That said Schurrle and Ba can argue that they haven't had as many chances to impress as the other two. After his hat-trick at the weekend Schurrle has, in my opinion, earned another chance up front.

I just wish someone could explain or justify to me why Torres deserves to be leading the line.

 

Particularly when he's leading the votes.

Honestly no f''ín idea!

 

Might be reaction to Fulham but would like to see Schurrle start up top for a few games and see how he can do. 

 

But I will trust in Jose since each option seems to have only a few upsides and a lot of draw backs lol

maybe it's because he cost £50million and the others aren't much cop! if JM deems him worthy of a place then who we to argue when JM has us top and progressing in the champions league?

Fair enough I generally trust in Jose, although to a degree you have to wonder if our success this season has been despite Torres, not because of him.

Eto'o at home, Torres away.

Eto'o, Ba, Schurrle and then Torres.

I'd give Schurrle a shot, only because he couldn't be any worse than what we've tried before. He makes the right runs.

 

However, if I had to choose an actual striker, it'd be Eto'o...he seems to have the best technical link up with Hazard, which is useful.

I doubt Jose will experiment with Schurrle as a CF this late in the season

For me it is comfortably Eto'o - he links up better than the others with Hazard and Willian (in particular), he is a better passer, he makes more dangerous runs and is overall a more intelligent footballer than the other three. In addition to this he has the experience of trophy-winning to lead the line during our league/European run-ins.

 

I'm not sure Schurrle is quite ready to play as lone striker yet (however he could be very dangerous on the left, allowing Hazard to roam more) but I think Ba could still have a role to play as an impact sub as he is probably still the best pure finisher of our centre forwards. Although he does balance out his diabolical performances with the occasional good performance, I feel that Torres no longer has a role to play at the club beyond the odd comedy cameo.

I don't see what harm it could do since Eto'o and Torres are hardly scoring for fun. However you are right Jose won't do something that drastic at the minute.

I'd also say Schurrle was far fresher than those two while I don't see him getting ahead of Willain, Oscar or Hazard

Schurrle was good in front of goal but he is better at running in behind defenders and the reason it works so well was him coming in from out wide and not being marked as the main focal point. Playing him as a striker will just result in teams marking him more and not getting the best out of him, why change his position when it worked well?

I know it was only at Mainz but he has played upfront before and didn't do too badly scoring 15 goals. I would give it go as its not like our other strikers our scoring loads. If he he does well it his goals and freshness could give us a huge boost towards the end of the season.

And didnt he play up front with FT against Gala?

He was very very effective on the right against Fulham scoring with his left, as mentioned, imagine Andre playing left shooting right with hazard in the middle, will or salah out wide on the right. FT/ Eto leading from the front

at this moment in time i side with you but by the season end i will be more than happy to acknowledge torres contribution if we have success. if the success is not there at the end i will be of the mind that a striker of his reputation and worth was detrimental in us missing out then a new order of strikers need to be established. then again i also think that a new order has to be established because torres has been rather consistently inconsistent and that i thank heaven that we have a manager who knows how to plan for the limitations.

There's ample examples of the other other options being completely ineffective in games. Besides, we didn't exactly go all out to win that game.

Which had nothing to do with Schurrle playing upfront,  the passing in that game from us was piss poor.
