Paul Pogba - Needs to Sign!

Featured Replies

I think the suggestions people are coming up with so we can get Pogba are a bit ridiculous to be honest. £60 million plus Cuadrado AND Oscar ? yeah right, that is absurd. We don't have a massive squad as it is, we can't afford to chuck in £60 million plus 2 players ( some are even saying 3 ! ) just to land one midfielder, no matter how good he is. Pogba is a good player, i would like us to sign him, but not if that means shrinking our squad. Competition is needed and so are numbers, we seen last season how drained our main 11 was by the end of the season.

Just to add up the fee £60m + cuadrado (who is still worth say £20m) + Oscar (worth £40m at least all though I pretty sure we weren't going to sell him for less than around £100m last year) IS £120m so 1.5 Ronaldo's/Bales yeah right. People need to get there sh*t together.

add Rami too that's £140m minimum. may as well buy Everton with that kind of cash.

Personally, while you would be silly to not want Pogba, I think him and Matic in a midfield 2 is overkill. I would prefer Wanyama. Cheaper, easier to attain, already wants out, isn't secretly holding out for Barca or Madrid, still young, already played in the Prem, would be easier to settle into a squad role.......

Oscar is probably 30 at best

Even still thats £110m which is ridiculous and considering Jose's stance last season 'PSG can have Oscar and Eden Hazard… for £300m' I'm not sure £30m is correct and for a 23 year old with 45 international caps and 150 caps for Chelsea you'd think he be worth more than that especially when you consider we bought him for £20m.

It wasn't literal, I don't think we want to let him go but he is about a 30 mil rated player, now need can dictate ridiculous prices, hence how yaya toure can go for 24 and pogba say 80, te reason young players who are already established are s expensive is because in 4 years pogba could go for what we buy him now at if he continues to improve

The thing is that argument can be applied to any young player.

Apparently juve have made Barcelona aware of our interest. Well...sh*t just got real.

Does this indicate we've made a move that they're seriously considering?

Well yea it can, Kenedy, huge potential could be worth 60 million in 3 years but could be worth nothing - not proven, Stones 2 years ago 3 mil from Barnsley now 40 mil - proven, Pogba 19, free transfer - unproven now that he is proven - silly money. if there is a risk of flop, cheap, if it seems very unlikely a young player will flop because they are improving and proven, then the high value will kick in, but even then there is a risk but it's worth it for said reason, you can recoup and you have a top player ready to go, someone like kenedy, we could not only recoup we could get ten times our money and a top player for a few years, but there is a big risk of him not working out so he comes cheap..this is the risk and reward of scouting young talent

He sorta looks like a super young Drogba with funkier hair.

Wait a minute. Drogba....Pogba....coincidence?

It's a sign!!! It's happening as we speak. I feel we may have our answer on Monday.

Chelsea have made a concrete attempt for Pogba: but Juventus is resistant. #CFCcfc.png (via @DiMarzio)

Chelsea offered Pogba a salary of €8m and to #Juventus, a transfer fee of €75m but Juve does not give its jewel. (via @DiMarzio) #CFCcfc.png

good news : we're actually trying to spend big in a galactico proposition

bad news   : think juve will only sell for british transfer record

How about a straight swap. They give us Pogba and we give them Crudrado, Ramires, Mikel, Marko Marin and the ghost of Robert Fleck.

And a meat and gravy pie. That should seal it.

hehe....the pogba thread...as usual, lots being made of us making various bids & Juve holding out for much much more. Claims & counter-claims abound. Always rich media click-bait. None of us on here know the exact truth & the whole truth of what our bid history has been for this player or where it currently stands & let's face it - Juve holds all the cards here. Good midfielder coming into his prime with what, a year left on his contract? On the assumption that there's been some collective interest in prising him away from Juve over the last 12 months by the usual suspects including us, it seems to me that the following salient points should be made: first, I strongly suspect that much of the information concerning our purported bids over say the last 2 weeks has been leaked/concocted by Juve themselves as opposed to being an accurate reportage of the "dealings". Why? Because it makes eminent sense: from Juve's perspective they either sell him now to the one suitor (being us so it would seem) for as much as they can get or, failing that, wait until January to see who comes knocking. Secondly, they must strongly suspect that others will come knocking at that time & that one of those suitors will be Real - especially in circumstances where same will be dependant upon how he (who cannot be named) "beds" in with the Real squad & how that team performs over the next 4 months in La Liga. In consequence of those reasons, and if I was Juve I think you either hold out for a ridiculous figure from us now or, much better, wait for the dutch auction on the player to occur in January which may involve 3 clubs possibly more & in which case you may get as much if not more from the winning suitor. The upside of that gambit is obvious & as well Juve has the player for a further 4 months in which to assist it to a healthy start to Serie A & to assist it to get through the Group stages of the CL. The downside? Real, Chels, PSG & (insert others) have good/very good/outstanding starts to the season whilst Juve doesn't & no-one comes knocking or, more likely come knocking but for a much reduced price/s. That scenario is however unlikely. If I was Juve I would hold out at present for an astronomical deal for the rest of the window. If I was making the decisions for us I wouldn't be too worried about not securing the player. We have only recently become self-sustaining, we have a stadium to build, we have some current problems in other areas (namely defence & attack) & we have had an "indifferent" start to the season. Based on that (and unless one is of the view that one player alone could solve our current problems in other areas) I don't feel that we should be trying to land this player at the moment.

mmmm....not sure whether your affectations or desires (of what ever nature) may have a bearing on the situation. Usually I'd ask for particulars concerning such a claim but in this instance....kindly desist.
