Posted May 4, 201410 yr I was in Germany on business at the weekend and was in a bar with a guy who is related to Kevin Scheidhauer a reserve team player at De Bruyne's current club. Apparently he and Courtios have been at each others throats for 18 or so months because our keeper dabbled with De Bruyne's ex girlfriend. Despite the Belgium manager trying and succeeding in parts to patch things up for the good of the National side the hatred on De Bruyne's part is so deep that he cannot spend time on a consistent basis with him. If you think of the Wayne Bridge/John Terry spat, this story has grounds. It to me, is the biggest sign yet that either Courtois is coming back in the summer or will put pen to paper on a new deal.
May 4, 201410 yr I think De Bruyne left because he didn't fancy fighting for his place, Jose didn't really rate him or because we could get a good return on him. Pick whichever of those that you like.
May 4, 201410 yr So wait, let me get this straight... De Bruyne was upset, or rather pissed, that Courtios got with his EX GIRLFRIEND and that wound him up so much so that he could not be near him? Wow, sorry but that's pathetic. If they were both single at the time there's no basis for this.

Wow, sorry but that's pathetic. If they were both single at the time there's no basis for this. I assumed she wasn't his his ex girlfriend at the time as that's the only way it makes sense to me. I don't believe that's why De Bruyne left anyway, I don't think even Courtios knew back in December whether he was coming back. As far as I can tell, they still haven't decided where he'll be next season.
May 4, 201410 yr De Bruyne left because he had two players ahead of him (Oscar and Mata) as well as Willian who occasionally plays there. There was no point of us keeping him against his will and we got a good a good offer from Wolfsburg so it was a win situation for all three parties involved. De Bruyne gets a nearly guaranteed starting spot, Wolfsburg get a class player and we get a good price for a player that we didn't really use/need.
May 4, 201410 yr It is true he did shag his girlfriend and another one at Genk, it was splattered all over the Belgian papers. But I am sure Wilmots made a point of settling their differences when preparing for World Cup qualifiers.
May 4, 201410 yr Good grief! why can't they sort it out like men, pistols at dawn would be my choice.
May 8, 201410 yr We certainly could've used him after we sold Mata, so I hope this story is true and it wasn't just Jose selling all our creative players just to sign work horses.
May 8, 201410 yr He left because he wasnt good enough. I've followed both De Bruyne and Schurrle closely for the last 2 seasons and, believe me, De Bruyne is a much more gifted footballer than Schurrle. I'd say he's got more to offer than Salah as well. I know that all of these players have different skillsets but KDB is more talented than them for sure. The reason he left was because he didn't grasp how much hard graft he needed to put in to force himself into Jose's team. From what I could see on social media he seemed to spend too much time in the clubs as well. Clearly he was too immature to apply himself properly. Jose himself hinted at this during one of his press conferences and, IIRC, stated that it was never a question of talent.
May 8, 201410 yr How's he done in Germany this season? I'm guessing not that well considering we haven't had it rubbed in faces by people.
May 8, 201410 yr 15 appearances, 2 goals. Wolfs are 5th in the league, so probably not doing a great deal. Bought for 7M, sold for 18M, cracking business. With a bit of luck we can keep repeating this process and make some easy coin for those who would be top signings. Edited May 8, 201410 yr by Zola
May 8, 201410 yr He is talented and maybe better on the eye on Schurrle but Andre while being frustrating at times does scores goals...much more than De Bruyne.

He is talented and maybe better on the eye on Schurrle but Andre while being frustrating at times does scores goals...much more than De Bruyne. That's true but Schurrle's naturally more of a goalscorer whereas De Bruyne has more to offer in terms of creative ability. KDB might not have the physical tools that Schurrle has (height, speed) but he's got a far better range of passing and in terms of natural footballing instinct and talent - being able to spot the correct pass etc - KDB has much more. As a result, he can play in pretty much any of the AM positions and perhaps even in midfield in the future. I've watched the Bundesliga highlights show every Monday for the last 18 months and have seen plenty of clips to support this. I know that you'll all be thinking 'where was all this then at CFC?', and rightfully so. KDB didn't produce in the limited opportunities that he was given. But as I said before, the difference betwee KDB and the other AM's (except for Mata, apparently) was that they were prepared to knuckle down and fight for their place, whilst KDB seemingly didn't get 'it'. A lack of maturity was what cost KDB his chance, not a lack of talent. Edited May 8, 201410 yr by Celery1989

I agree with that, he is a really good player and I was at Hampden the night he tore Scotland to shreds single handily but it just didn't happen at Chelsea...maybe we didn't give him enough time ect but at least we got a great deal out of it.

No doubt KDB is a better footballer than Schurrle however not always the better footballer makes the better player (Thomas Muller is a great example of this). I think its easier to find technical players like KDB than it is getting players like Schurrle. Schurrle for me is always going to get us goals,he has that knack about him. A very good finisher, creates chances for himself works hard and has good speed. Plus Schurrle looks like he really wants to play for Chelsea and be a success where KDB didn't look that bothered if he made at Chelsea or not.

Schurrle us something quite different to Hazard, Oscar and Willian whereas KDB is effectively a poor man's Hazard at the moment, so in terms of the relative utility of each player I'd say that Schurrle maybe has more value in the current squad than KDB would. Ultimately, I'd much rather have someone like Schurrle who is clinical in front of goal and willing to work hard for the team than a player like KDB with bags of talent but seemingly no real drive.
May 9, 201410 yr Plus Schurrle looks like he really wants to play for Chelsea and be a success where KDB didn't look that bothered if he made at Chelsea or not. How many minutes of competitive football did KDB play for Chelsea and you managed to deduce all this from that, wow you are good.

May 9, 201410 yr Be careful in German bars, Star! It's not true and Kevin is doing well. Thank you. www.voetbalnieuws.be/news/116079/In_een_mum_van_tijd_heeft_De_Bruyne_zich_onmisbaar_gemaakt Onmisbaar = indispensable, crucial, necessary, essential, obligatory, compulsory, mandatory, vital.
