Posted June 20, 201410 yr I just realised there wasn't a thread for today's games so i thought i would make one. Italy are 1-0 down to Costa Rica at half time. Switzerland v France - 8:00pm Kick off Honduras v Ecuador - 11:00pm Kick off Edited June 20, 201410 yr by Scott Harris
June 20, 201410 yr Author Roy Hodgson to stay England manager. Disgrace. It feels like the F.A have given up on getting in a decent manager.
June 20, 201410 yr There's no point in replacing him. He's got rid of most of the old guard which is what people wanted, bought in some young players which is what everyone wanted and has still got substandard players to work with. No point in keep changing the manager, it doesn't make any difference to the results.
June 20, 201410 yr We need a Klinsmann figure ready to clean the whole thing up and revolutionise it. Who that is, I don't know, but it's not Hodgson and it will never be our current FA.
June 20, 201410 yr Good news Hodgson is staying. I think he's done a good job. He is trying to setup the team according to the quality of players and he has a lot of experience. England will benefit by him staying for longer. Italy really is clueless against Costa Rica. CR is a very good team. I see England losing to them.
June 20, 201410 yr Italy have got it all on if they want to go through. Not a great tournament for the Europeans so far. Also the CONCACAF teams have been a credit so far in this tournament. Probably the 3rd strongest confederation at the moment. Edited June 20, 201410 yr by mactheknife
June 20, 201410 yr Welcome to Copa America people - you never seen The Ticos before from the posts/tweets I have been reading. The best for me of Los Ticos is the fact they have MLS players in their starting 11. It's about putting the right people in the right place & not going off of what you did in the past.
June 20, 201410 yr We need a Klinsmann figure ready to clean the whole thing up and revolutionise it. Who that is, I don't know, but it's not Hodgson and it will never be our current FA. Very true. Maybe Guus Hiddink?
June 20, 201410 yr Very true. Maybe Guus Hiddink? Guus will take over the Netherlands national team this August. His contract runs until the Euros of 2016.
June 20, 201410 yr Very true. Maybe Guus Hiddink? Would Guus accept not winning now? Though he has got the best out of South Korea in 2002, Australia in 06 and Russia in 08. If we could have a performance in a tournament like these sides (especially Russia in 08) it could serve as a catalyst for the nation. I honestly think Glenn Hoddle would be good. He's a visionary and understands the game. I would at least have him as assistant to perhaps an Eddie Howe type.
June 20, 201410 yr Because my Dutch tv channel froze, I switched to the BBC for a few minutes. How can you British viewers stand that commentary?? Robbie Savage droning on, oh my goodness. I feel for the BBC viewers, poor souls.
June 20, 201410 yr This is how low our standards are: Football Association Chairman Greg Dyke says there is no "great value" in changing England manager Roy Hodgson. England's consecutive defeats at the World Cup have posed questions of the 66-year-old and Dyke still believes the national side can meet his aim of winning the 2022 World Cup. He says: "We were not humiliated or anything like that they were narrow defeats but its for the football people not for me to identify why we didn't win. "I think we feel any great value in changing Roy. I think he's done a good job. Its an approach over four years and we hope to do better in the Europeans."

June 20, 201410 yr well English Fans pray for snow. That is the only way the Yanks beat Los Ticos. Remember this scene?
June 20, 201410 yr We were not humiliated? I think it's very humiliating to be out of a World Cup after just two games, while seeming a much smaller country in Costa Rica show a lot more effort and desire to beat two teams we deservedly lost too

I feel for the BBC viewers, poor souls. His voice gets on my nerves. Luckily we can usually change the commentary stream to listen to the commentators from the radio broadcast. Jason Roberts isn't great but is much easier on the ears than Savage.
June 20, 201410 yr I actually don't mind England going out when comparing to the performances of Costa Rica. The desire, work rate, technique, tactics and above all else mental strength have been head and shoulders above us. A great TEAM. Uruguay must be confident about sending Italy on the same flight home as us.
