I agree...there have been loads of lazy articles about it...only three years since chelsea won champions league, got to semis last year...ok other English clubs, especially your lot, need to step up, but these things go in cycles...with pl richest league in Europe, they can spend their way back...also I hate the presumption that teams should win, have automatic right...ok arsenal should really have got past Monaco, probably say the same for us with PSG, but that's football...

Even if both clubs had, there is still the small matter of Real Madrid, Bayern, probably barca etc to get past...no easy task

Top post, you basically said what I was trying to say but mine wasn't as good

Haha Claude's gonna be great, probably will moan about the first leg, Giroud and Wenger.

On another note some Arsenal fans I know said they thought Ozil was a beast. Did I miss something? I thought he was shocking yet again.

He makes some very casual passes; it's as if he thinks he's good enough not to try.

I remember actually hearing on talksport on way home last week, the host say Chelsea's season will be a failure if end up with just title and league cup, cos they should win cl too...just laughable

he was terrible, lost the ball so much, did a few little flicky things that came to nothing. He literally drifts through games doing very little of note.

I would love to know what Arsenal fans see, so many praise his performances. I wonder if it's to do with him costing so much they feel like they have to big him up even when he's worthless.

The Brit, Haha, They said the same to us last year, Yet Liverpool spunk £120 million, Get knocked out of CL and the EL and then string 5 wins together and all of a sudden the man who loves character has done a fantastic job and his sides achievement of finishing in the top 4 is better than their title win of last year.

:laugh2:

Probably some twunt who has a chip on his shoulder about us

It's wonderful to see that Torres is still sh*t, hope he doesn't score a late winner - although I wouldn't mind seeing Athletico go through.

Once we get knocked out tomorrow night be prepared for the Carragher, Neville and Souness rant about how the Premier League is awful and we're a million miles away from teams in Europe, Sometimes you win, Sometimes you lose, Do we always have to have a drama queen mentality when our sides lose in Europe?

It's not 'drama queen' but analysis, something match analysts get paid for. We've (the Premier League) arguably been on a steady decline since the 2008 final when we played United. That is probably one of our best sides up against what I think was United's best team under Ferguson. You also had THREE premier league teams in the semis and Arsenal were eliminated by Liverpool in the quarters.

But these things are cyclical and it looks as though a few of the Premier League teams are building teams who could compete over the next few years.

OK - let's play spot the difference....

BBC - Valiant Arsenal out on away goals; Arsenal are agonisingly knocked out of the Champions League last 16 on away goals despite beating Monaco 2-0.

BBC - Chelsea crashed out of the Champions League on a stormy night at Stamford Bridge as Paris St-Germain reached the last eight on away goals after extra time.

I forgot, Liverpool didn't win the title last year but they most definitely won the hearts of the neutrals hence why they released a fantastically assembled dvd about it.

They never, you sure? media certainly had me fooled.

Normal rules don't apply to Liverpool, we all know that...whether it's behaviour of their fans or their underachieving football club...25 years and counting

I don't get this Arsnal deserved it crap I'm reading on sites everywhere, Monaco outplayed them at the Emirates, Arsenal outplayed Monaco tonight. Does it automatically mean if you play better in the second leg you deserve to win? Bloody ridiculous honestly.

From their 3-1 defeat

The Gunners looked to have been handed a favourable draw but a display that plumbed the depths of incompetence and naivety leaves them facing a last-16 exit once more.

Both of those headlines are accurate, except our's seems to be missing the word 'pathetic'.

I've seen quite a lot of different fans saying he played well. I thought he was one of their best players, gave the ball away quite often when they were pushing for that last goal though. His workrate again was very impressive, could get into a Jose team with that amount of effort.

Did make me laugh how the pundits were slating him saying he did nothing and then a replay of him pretty much creating the entire second goal was shown while they were talking.

Sanchez on the other hand was dreadful.

At least Arsenal went out with a bit of pride, they tried and got very close. Instead of going out with a whimper against 10 men.

Hardly mate. They lost 3-1 at home and they have gone out of the competition at the last 16 stage for the 5th time in a row.

We may have gone out against 10 men but it's not often that we have a poor season in Europe.
