Won 11 of 13 since Christmas. Their next 3 are home to Liverpool, away to Burnley and home to us.

They're not doing much wrong.

And won 7 out of 17 before Christmas. We won 13 out of 17, including a pretty comfortable win against them. Hence we're currently 1st while they're relying on two superior teams to completely bottle it. Arsenal do this every year, get a few wins from a favourable run of fixtures against bottom half sides, all their fans start getting cocky about their chances... and then they finish 4th.

We (and others) can't buy a penalty, spuds get one for absolutely nothing at all. Refs have been shocking lately.

I was just going to come and post this.  That penalty call was absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!

Also, I feel that the second "Kane" goal should be counted as an OG.  It took a HUGE deflection to the exact opposite side that he was shooting at.

Atkinson the ref who booked Cesc for diving at Southampton, today he was at Bournemouth v Boro and was conned by a dive and awarded B'mouth a penalty. He must have a fetish about south coast clubs.

^ The ref who booked Fabregas was Michael Oliver. Atkinson was in charge of the Burnley match, didn't even book Barnes for a number of violent fouls and also failed to give two penalties. Admittedly, we've been done over by so many incompetent refs lately it's hard to keep track of them all.

Sorry got the wrong name, it was Anthony Taylor, he did the Bournemouth game today, and the Southampton game when he booked Cesc.

Taylor was also criticised in December, for booking Chelsea's Cesc Fàbregas for diving when replays proved he had been fouled by Southampton's Matt Targett. He apologised to Chelsea after that decision.[26]

Oops yes you're right. Oliver was the one who booked Costa for diving when he was taken out by the Burnley keeper. As I said, it's hard to keep track of all these dodgy refs!

Pearson has come out with a lot of crap lately but calling mike Dean arrogant gets a big thumbs up from me...guys is an utter turd, as he showed for the umpteenth time against us last week

Oh what a surprise, with teams that battle hard during the season against us now rolling over like a circus dog....hopefully Hull will do the same for us tomorrow...doubt it though.   It might just suddenly become a must 'win game' ...lets see if Arsenal and the Spuds can't fold the second half.

well maybe if we werent shuttung up shop as soon as we go 1 up, teams would be rolling over for us as well

Rose called up to replace Shaw instead of Bertrand.

Unbelievable.

Brilliant. Probably the worst defensive left back in the league chosen over the best left back this season. Why am I not surprised though?

Did I say anything to the contrary? Their form after Christmas has been exceptional and one of those two teams above them IS bottling it - we can't go the same way.

But they've got a great chance of finishing second.

Here's hoping that (in contrast to us last week) Liverpool do Utd; the match is a tough one when it comes to deciding who I want to win but I'll always want Utd to lose.

West Ham score! Get in.

If Everton beat Qpr

Liverpool beat united

And we beat Hull

I'll get £537 from a £3 bet.

You've made some good calls there. You must have been a worried man during the Spurs-Leicester game...

I think you may be ok but Everton-QPR is hard to call.

Best wishes mate - I hope your ship comes in.

Unbelievable.

Danny Rose has been better than Bertrand this season in almost every measure in my opinion.

At best they're on the same level so it's not exactly unbelievable that a person could choose one over the other. It's hardly going to make or break our chances in a tournament.

Whenever I've watched Rose this season, he has shown the positional sense of a blindfolded person. He's good going forward but that's about it.

I think that's incredibly harsh on him but I can sort of understand why some people overrate Bertrand. He's an ex-Chelsea lad, he was in the Champions League Final and he seems a nice sort, but he's really nothing special. That's why we sold him. In his time here he was never exceptional in any way.

Rose isn't much better but if you're replacing Shaw then Rose is probably the closest player to him. Like I've said I'm surprised more isn't being made about Cresswell because he's looked pretty good when I've seen him.

But you've got Rose, Bertrand, Gibbs and Cresswell and there's a fag paper between them in terms of quality so it's hardly that 'unbelievable' that one gets the nod over another.

You are right. Bertrand is not exceptional in any way. But he doesn't have any glaring weaknesses either. And you want your fullbacks to be solid before anything else.

Danny Rose is anything but solid. Several times this season he has been a defensive liability who has had fans calling for him to be dropped and he did get dropped for Ben Davies in November. Pochettino does seem to love an attacking fullback though and to be fair to Rose I think he's improved as the season has gone on.

But for me, there is no question that Bertrand has had a better season and is more deserving of a call up, ex-Chelsea or not.

Whether or not you think he's "special" is irrelevant, his performances speak for themselves. I don't think Kane excels at anything in particular but he's still banging in goals and is the current top scorer.

It wasn't a dig at Rose really, he's played well recently and is normally Spurs best defender (not much competition when you have Walker and Vertongen falling asleep half the time but still) but Bertrand has been consistent all season. Bertrand missing out on a spot in the first place was just silly but with this Roy is effectively saying Bertrand is England's fifth best left back.

Most people I've seen seem to agree that he's been the best left backs in the league, if not then pretty close to it.

Baines is the best left-back in the league in my opinion, he's just in a sh*t team. Then you've got Shaw who is seen as the future in that position but has had a tough transition to a United team who are constantly shifting and changing personnel.

Bertrand on the other hand is in a very settled team with a very defined ethos based on defensive solidity. They've had consistency with the likes of Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Davis playing in front of Fonte and Tobey with Forster behind so I think he's in a much kinder position. What it comes down to is who would be best for what England need.

That's why I think it's a very marginal call and people are arguing over much of a muchness in a position (third left-back) which doesn't actually exist in a 23 man tournament squad. It's like the other argument about Townsend vs Young.

Talk about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. :laugh2:

Bertrand has been better than Baines this season, no question even though baines is better It's a squad that should be based on form not on which club you play for or anything else, it's a joke I can't wait for Hodgson to go, loyal to random players for no reason. Shaw has been sh*t and Bertrand has been better this season than shaw was in the last. Also can't understand welbecks inclusion over Austin.

Surely that Bertrand has been a part of the best defense in the league this season should be a testament to how well he has played.

Considering the indifferent form of Shaw and Baines this season and that Gibbs isn't even always first choice at Arsenal it just seems extremely harsh on Bertrand to suggest he hasn't warranted a call up.

It's things like this that just alienate me from the national team.
