Richard Attenborough

Loved Jurassic Park, couldn't believe the effects, the cast was amazing too which I appreciated as I got older, including the man himself. Proper Chelsea too.

They say you never get over the death of a child and I think that may well have contributed to his passing, they always seem to do :( rest in peace.

The fact that he was 90 years old may just have contributed as well.

I remember Dickie being interviewed by Des Lynam on the morning of the cup final against Middlesborough in 1997. He had worn this hat through all the previous rounds and had it with him during the interview. He talked about bringing Olivier amongst others to the bridge back in the day, and showed a love and enthusiasm for our club that still makes my heart swell. Always our life president.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

You know what? I typed in brackets after that statement 'I know he was 90' ... but didn't think anyone on here was that spiteful enough to pick apart my comment rather than post a message of well wishes so I deleted it.

Better put a disclaimer in next time. He's also been in ill health too for a while, they may have contributed too, don'tcha think?

Had enough of you, pedantic prick.

I know this has nothing to do with me, but please don't start an argument on this thread. It just dosen't seem appropriate if you ask me.

Theres a Richard Attenborough thread in the film/TV forum, is it possible for an admin to merge them together?

While im here, what a contribution he has given to Chelsea and to film over the years. He is also the founder of the 'Help a Capital Child' charity. RIP Richard.

A truly great loss of a fine gentleman/actor/ambassador: what a rich enduring mark he has left on all of us & particularly Chels. Highest salutations dickie - you'll never be forgotten.

RIP to a top man... just as I was thinking of rewatching Gandhi as well. Top respect to a true blue as well, would have no problem with renaming the East Stand after him, I already work in the Attenborough Tower at university!

A true Chelsea fan, a fantastic actor turned director and a great man to boot.

If anyone has read Brighton Rock and seen Lord Attenborough's portrayal of Pinkie you will know how talented he was.

R.I.P Richard.

Massive respect to a great actor director and life long Chelsea fan.

We became known (and still are in a way) the fashionable/hip/trendy club to support in the 60's I think partly because of location but also because Richard used to come along with some of his show biz friends

RIP life president, not a bad innings

He is one of those actors whose films can be reeled off, particularly his 50s and 60s films: In Which We Serve, Guns at Batasi, The League of Gentlemen, Dunkirk, etc. There are now very few of the greats of that era with us.

RIP.
