Premier league title !

Featured Replies

We got 11 games I believe and 5 points lead .City have 10 games ..am I right thinking considering city win all their games which is 30 points and we winning all games 33 points. We can loose 2 and draw 1 ..and still win in goal difference ...If city drop points then by start of May we would be champions.

If City win all their games and we lose two and draw one, we'd be dead level on points. As you said, it would then go down to goal difference, but that could see us lose the title. We're only 3 goals ahead of them on GD, if we lose two and draw one that would almost surely see them overtake us on GD... I don't think we should even contemplate the idea of dropping points. We have to keep up the must win mentality until the League is won.

Winning is our aim

So glad we won today, really crucial 3 points and didn't use our out of jail cards. I don't think either team or any team in the league will will the next 10-11 games. I think we could afford to drop 6 points  and still win it via points. Of course we will aim to win all, but that's not going to happen. On another day, someone would beat us when we are as wasteful as tonight.

That's 6 in the bag then, LOL.

I think we can take United at home, but I'm not too sure about Arsenal away. I'm feeling a bit pessimistic about that one... Still, I can't see City winning all their remaining games so I'm not too worried.

We have United, Arsenal and Liverpool right near the end of the season if my memory is correct, which means its vital we don't drop points before then.

I have never felt so nervous for a league run in, maybe its my mind playing tricks on me but in 2005 and 2006 it just had an air of inevitability about it??

Actually Carlo's 2010 team was a bit squeaky  bum but felt we where the better team, didn't rate that united team and thought we should have won by more. This city team can easily put 10 games together

Until it becomes mathematically impossible then I won't be counting any chickens.

Each game at a time and let’s from there. We still have to play Arsenal, Liverpool and Southampton who are all in and about the top 4 so we could easily drop points from them.

As Daze said PSG first then every other game one at a time and we will see where we are.

A long way to go yet. I feel we will win it on points(not goal difference). Just need to keep our present composure and focus. Mourinho is not one to let his teams falter at this stage. But this is Chelsea so i'm sure we will make it hard work.

Don't City have to win every game to even be in with a shout? So, the minute they draw or lose...

I hate these sort of threads as well. The biggest football cliche is take one game at a time but in a title run in it's prevalent. I have a strange sense of foreboding about the Liverpool game that they could get revenge for last year.

Don't City have to win every game to even be in with a shout? So, the minute they draw or lose...

11 games left for them and 33 points to play for so no.

They are only 5 points behind us with playing a game more, so really 3 results can swing things.

And City? I'm confused!

Nothing to be confused about, it's pretty straightforward.

We have 12 games left

City have 11

We are playing for 36 points

City are playing for 33 points

We have a five point advantage as it stands.

Table just now is as follows :

1 Chelsea 27 35 63

2 Man City 28 32 58

Assuming we win our game in hand that's 8 points of a gap which means a 3 game swing of Losses for us and wins for them can swing it.

With the first trophy of the season in the bag, it's natural enough to get a little excited, but with over a quarter of the league season still go to, it's far too early to start talking about the title. Similarly, we can't rely on anyone to do the job for us, which means that as things stand, and assuming that City don't slip up, our game in hand means that as things stand, we can afford to slip up twice, no more.

But there is still over a quarter of the season to go (10 more games for City, 11 for ourselves), with the Champions League as a further complication, and so the permutations are considerable.

In a nutshell, there's a long way to go yet, and the situation could well change with each passing week.
