Eva Carneiro

Featured Replies

The figure known as 'Roman' who is seen attending Chelsea matches/flying a helicopter/swanning around on a massive yacht is actually just three dwarves in a suit.

Jose was wrong to question his medical staff after the game.

He was wrong and they were right.

Carneiro is within her rights to post on Facebook. She has had her professionalism and competence questioned, publicly, wrongly.

Why should she or the other guy be bullied like that?

If Jose doesn't like it, he needs to look at himself and see what started this.

He is wholly to blame.

If he's worried about a counter-attack, don't throw everyone forward for the free-kick, make them all stay back.

Simples.

When Mourinho starts having pops at those who don't deserve it, such as the fans and the medical staff and so on, he takes a lot of the fun out of it for me.

He gets paid a fortune whereas the medics get paid a humble wage, and the fans pay to watch games and travel.

He has a greater duty of care IMO.

There was absolutely no need for him to go public with his criticisms, and his criticisms were wrong.

Nobody can complain about her giving a tiny bit back in public.

Good for her.

I hope he shows some decency in his press conference tomorrow.

I'm dreading the effect this will have on the squad for Sunday.

The manager has to have the respect of his players, and he has to be seen to be fair.

Neither of these things will have been achieved with this latest episode.

It will always be a controversial ride with Jose and that's fine, I love him for it, but he has to have the truth on his side and in this case he doesn't.

God knows what Roman is making of it.

Totally unnecessary Jose.

Shame on you.

I'm not sure where or when Jose bullied her and questioned her capability as a doctor or her proffesionlisemn, could you point out the exact sentence?

What I'm saying is your over reacting

Well I guess we are left with the options of either Jose says sorry for all this or we continue to ride this out.

Or we can just sack both Eva and John and make Bruce buck the bad guy for doing the firing lol.

Sky sport report, 'words exchanged'. No, really, people working together, using verbal communication is news worthy? Wow! What did Jon say? I'm so interested to know about this new race using sound made with the mouth.

Has anyone seen the video of the full thing doing the rounds on social media? It may have been posted already but it's telling that everything is about Eva but from the video it's Jon who gets given the biggest mouthful and in the more confrontational way IMO.

Edit: can see the videos been posted.

mmmm...abra -  just let me say that you're a stalwart on here who is valued & I'll always read your posts & most of the time I agree with you regarding various issues that crop up. But not on this.

I think the first point to be made is the foul on Hazard - let's be objective about this - it was a pretty innocuous body check - no more, no less. Given that, I don't think you have to have credentials from John Hopkins to understand that he wasn't injured per se. Sure, he may have fallen a bit awkwardly but really....to launch into a tirade, as you do, regarding the possibility of heart failure etc etc.  You're not usually prone to exaggerate the case so why now?

As far as he ref is concerned - surely you must recognize that they are instructed & trained to signal for the medicos either because of their own concern for the player's welfare and/or because (which is usually the case) they are under an on-going stipulation from the FA to 'keep things moving' in a game. If that means signalling for the medicos then they will invariably do it. It seems to me that in so far as the material ref was concerned his signal was motivated by the latter was it not? Now in those circumstances, I agree that the medicos have no choice to attend to the player - which they did. But in doing so - what should their reaction be once they attend on the player? I would've thought, quite naturally, they ask him what is wrong. If Hazard can't say because he is winded then it becomes pretty clear immediately what the problem is. At that point the medicos should be telling the ref that in their view the player is winded & that their is nothing they can do & that there is no point taking the player to the sideline. Now the ref in that situation has a clear choice - does he motion the medicos to take the player off regardless or does he just give the player 30 secs or so to recover sufficiently & in doing so not penalize the team for having a man down through no fault of its own? The reality is that during the incident, the player over-reacted, the medicos over-reacted & the ref over-reacted. It was a combination of all three. Then Jose over-reacted on the sideline but I can understand his frustration. Later he should have demurred to the question asked of him in the press conference. But he didn't. Eva then over-reacted by using social media which is a big no-no. It's an unfortunate confluence of events. But, in saying this, these things happen from time to time. It's all a bit of a storm in a tea-cup really. Not very well handled but....in the scheme of the bigger picture hardly worth the endless theoryrising & endless doom laden projections is it?

Could be wrong but I believe in the last 5 minutes of a game, if the medics come on the player MUST leave the field, this is in place to stop time wasting, I could be wrong I can't find it after a google search but I'm certain I've heard that

I get what you're saying but if that's a rule that's a really weird one. Should be whole game, not just last 5.

hehe....she's been dismissed from her employment has she? If not, where is the constructive dismissal - has she resigned? Take it from me who's done a few 'constructive dismissals' in my time before the courts - buckleys....

No the point is they are afraid SHE WILL resign under constructive dismissal, what happened to her is grounds for that, her compensation would be hugely amplified by the fact it was done on national television, if she wanted to be c**ty she could be, but she wont because no one would employ her after that, they don't like people who turn in the football world

If the medics come on the field of play anytime , an outfield player has to leave the pitch. It was brought in for the 2002 world cup and later adopted as a rule for all leagues by FIFA to counteract time wasting. Like any rule change there are downsides. It has though stopped the last 10 mins of matches played out with more touches by the physio than on the ball.

I've watched the video it appears he said to her why did you do that and she said the ref called me on I had to and some other inaudible sh*t was said, but watch her reaction then Jon's she is mouthy it appears, Jon doesn't say a word, there is more to this than the gaffer just bullying a poor little lady doctor

She can stick up for herself, you're right she is certainly not a 'poor lady doctor', as I've said elsewhere she didn't get to where she is, qualification & job wise, by fluttering her eyelids. The press is at fault for her public status, not her.

I believe both medics acted correctly in the situation, followed rules of the game and carried out their duty of care. If something happened previously then that's another matter and should have been kept in house. No, not Mourinho, not his style.

The problem really lies with the rule and players feigning injury, in this case Eden. Having been poleaxed and seeing him there lying still, Oliver has no real choice but to act on it, either by first asking Eden if he is ok or by taking matters into his own hands directly and calling the medics on. They then have to respond immediately, with no thoughts of the game tactically. If he was seriously hurt and they refused they would be hung drawn and quartered quite rightly by the authorities.

Jose for his part will know he let his anger get the better of him, even though he won't admit it?. In retrospect when asked the question he could have evaded it by being unimpressed by the challenge and that his star player could have been seriously hurt by the incident. Monday morning was then the time to have words with the medics and the club could have stood down the pair from match day activities as part of an internal shuffle, avoiding this sh*t storm.

One wonders how our management staff would react if similar circumstances played out on Sunday? Do the medics look to Jose to see if they are allowed to attend the injured player? How would the referee react ... Jose has as good as told him that he believes that Eden feigns injury. The situation could and should have been avoided, siege mentality is supposed to be us against the them not us against ourselves. A good result is now necessary to sweep this under the counter or expect to see us in the papers negatively all next week too. ?

Also this social media stuff, its okay for the Manager to publically criticise them on TV but if she thanks people for their support on a social media outlet then it's not? She hasn't criticised anyone or argued her point, just thanked people. FFS, if the club do have some sort of social media censor in staff members' contracts then she can't really argue but it seems a bit pathetic, you always see people saying 'my posts are my thoughts and not that of this company' so why bother gagging them?

Meh, never been a fan of Mourinho as a person, think this is just another tick in the box. Wonder if he would critisie his medic for treating his star player if we were 8-0 up. Or indeed if the player who needed treatment was his son.

Is anyone else tired of the ongoing saga yet or is it just me? Wish the media would find something else to entertain them. It's at times like this I wish Balotelli would get into some fireworks, alcohol and glitter glue.

It's funny that some people - especially in the media - are saying that Mourinho used the medical team as an excuse after the match. Just watch how he reacted when they ran on the pitch. He was genuinely hysterical about what they were doing; he didn't just bring the issue up after the match. No, he really was angry in that moment and he spoke out about it after the match.

I'd say that  Eva is bang out of order. Mourinho is the governor, so as much as she was doing her job, she should also respect Mourinho's perspective and let things slide. The way she's spoken out in a way to get sympathy, has everything to do with making Mourinho look like a villain. Mourinho is angry with her, she is angry with Mourinho. Both should talk about what happened and learn from it.  The way Eva has played into the media's hands, shows that her loyalty to Chelsea and Mourinho was frail.

Once again, Mourinho is painted in a bad light, when he actually has a point. He's nearly always unfairly treated, so it's disgusting to see some Chelsea fans siding with the medical team and the media's view of the situation. Mourinho deserves more respect and understanding, because his point of view actually makes sense if you can appreciate what happened in that moment.

No, I'm very bored of it too, but the media have nothing else to talk about, so they will milk the story, it'll be forgotten soon. If this was any other club, the story wouldn't have become so big, but of coarse it's evil Chelsea with their evil manager and their evil fans, so the media love it and also, it gives all the fans of other teams to continue their obsession with us.

Some thoughts.

Being considered conventionally attractive helps, I'm not being sexist there has been research and main stream reporting.

Jose inherited Eva.

This could be me, but I barely remember her until fairly recently.

I don't remember all this fuss, here and elsewhere, when Jose has actually named and shamed on a number of occasions, even my dearly beloved and departed Drogba.

Edit. Oh and 'hell hath no fury...'

It seems we're all forgetting something.

make no mistake, the british sports press are scum.

they know it.we know it and they know that but don't give a flying one.they've been hanging us out to dry for years as fans of club and nation alike.

Couple of on the money posts here.

I love mourinho as a manager and for what he has done for the club and though I wouldn't go as far as gem in my opinion of him as a person, this isn't the first incident where he has clearly gone past the line separating the dark arts of press manipulation with outright nastiness.

She's right to point out Jose wouldn't have reacted if the result was secure- it's ironic he used the words impulsive and naive when they perfectly describe his reaction to the situation.

I'll add that I'm disappointed but not at all surprised with the way the club have handled this.
