Kenedy aka 'The New Hulk'

Featured Replies

The Mail seem to think he is but then again it's the mail.

How many times have we bought a 19 year old and put them in the squad without the token loan?

The work permit I can't see being as straightforward as the mail put it either.

Good points

Kenedy allegedly did his CFC medical last night and has agreed terms on a 5 year deal. Should be announced this week if this is true!

I'm all for signing youngsters - much better than signing players who have already peaked and are only going to go backwards form-wise. But do we really need another 19 year old who is possibly or possibly not better than our own academy players and who will go out on loan with the danger of being completely forgotten in a year or so's time?

I am losing track of players 18 - 22 who we have on our books and where they are and as I'm getting older and more and more forgetful and borderline OCD it's not doing me any good at all!!

Think there's about a 0% chance he joins the squad immediately. Even his Youtube video, which usually makes every player look fantastic, couldn't hide how raw he is. Personally have very little belief he ever makes it at Chelsea. Hope he proves me wrong, but there are only so many youth players that I can be emotionally invested in. Makes it easier when they're sold to Augsburg or wherever without ever playing for us.

At £6 million odd it's clear we are just hoping he can kick on and if he doesn't then it's no big deal as we will no doubt make most of the money back by selling abroad or back to Brazil.

90% (probably higher) of the young players we buy end up not featuring for us so it's hard to get excited about transfers like this.

Agreed. I used to get excited back when we first started the business plan now I dont.

I still think we should incorporate a hunger games type trial by fire to see who is the best of the best,

Worthy of first team action. Who's with me?

This is pretty much what we got a trial game against barca and he looks squad worthy as is judge for yourself https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-r2IIi0yV8c

Mourinho just spoke about Kenedy in his post-match presser and he seems to strongly disagree with you. In fact, he stated that the club is pushing for a work permit so that this player who has a "0% chance [of joining] the squad immediately," actually joins the club immediately. Who would have thought this "youtube raw player" who you "have very little belief will ever make it at Chelsea" will IMMEDIATELY prove you wrong and be given a squad slot, pending a work permit.  .

With Cuadrado almost gone, it seems Mourinho has decided (and hopes on) Hazard, WIllian, Moses, OScar, Traore and Kenedy

Is Cuadrado almost gone?

Given the number 11 shirt and no string rumours that he's leaving.

I think we're stuck with him until January. Although most would probably pick Kenedy or Moses over him atm

Kenedy might well get a work permit but I'd suggest it'll be a long time before we see him in a Chelsea first XI again.

Not impressive last night? I didn't see the game so just wandering your opinion

He played well last night. The issue for me is every right sided player has to constantly cover ivanovic because of his lack of pace. He did look very good though; tracking back and looking hungry to get involved. I would like to see what he can do on a more regular basis though. I hope traore doesn't leave in place of him though.

Didn't see it but the reports I'm reading this morning are positive. Reminds me of Traore in 2013, difference being of course Traore was signed but we knew he wasn't going to get a permit.

I maintain though, we won't be seeing him again anytime soon. Not being negative, just an educated prediction based on some pretty overwhelming previous evidence.

Come on BJD.. Alow us to dream a little... Even if you are correct as I'm yet to see the lad my self I'm just going to assume we have signed the next Rivaldo /ronaldo/Ronaldinho hybrid... More likely denilson but I say let's dream a little

I know what you mean. It's always nice to hope and dream about the youth players. Unfortunately for me, when it comes to youngsters CFC have long since turned these dreams into cynicism!

Just read that we haven't even signed him yet... Still on trial

Yep, officially he's still a Fluminese player that's got permission to train with us...

Didn't watch the match but just based on that video, I'm not getting my hopes up on him for this season. Looks quite raw and one footed as already suggested. Maybe he showed good work rate and tracked back well but that alone is not enough to get into the squad ahead of the other options we have at the moment on that right side.
