Brilliant strike yes but Courtois is partly to blame for me. When a keeper gets beat from 70 yards, I'm sorry, there's no other conclusion.

He didn't antipate what could potentially happen, Adam said he had spotted it earlier in the game, he only shot because Courtois was so far off his line.

I doubt Courtois will be allowing it to happen again, and by that definition alone, it was an error of judgement.

Harsh because it was an absolute freak goal but a goal it was and Courtois will have to accept his part in it, IMO.

I love Tibo, I'm going to stick with 'superb strike' as the reason Stoke scored, I do agree I'm sure Tibo will take note at what happened, but that isn't an admission to guilt, Tibo left a very small window of opportunity that only a wonder strike could exploit.

We've become a one man team I'm afraid to say. Oscar is Tom Cleverley with an accent, Willian has zero end product and Fabregas has been awful since Xmas.

Did you catch up on your early evening sleep yesteday?

3 points. The most important thing whether we won by a 1 or 10 goal margin. 3 points is 3 points.

Is a real shame Diego went down injured again, but as Jose admitted we gambled on him and it did not pay off. We are ok with Remy, he knows how to get us a goal. If Hazard and Willian keep playing that way we will do just fine.

Cracking strike by Adam as well,, credit where credit is due.

Totally  agree, we get no more points for defeating teams by a excess of goals, does help with goal diff though, helps keep the pretenders below us, below us.

Time for Remy, step up my son, we are all behind you.

Great strike, once in a life time, shame it was scored by such a dirty player that Adams is.

Tibo beaten by goal that 140 million football fans have as the best ever goal they have seen scored,

so the outcome is, sack the keeper, not congratulate the scorer.

People are saying it was a brilliant goal, I disagree. It was a fortuous strike. I think a brilliant goal is when the team creates it. It is about 100-times more difficult for a team to score after a series of passing instead of shooting from distance to an empty goal.

People are saying wonder strike, that is a pretty good description.

Cech never made a mistake did he? Honestly laughable the way some people are turning on Tibo.

There is a mistake and there is getting beat from a player in the opposition half. Coupled with being right after another near costly mistake excuse some people for showing some concern.

petr's done plenty worse. people need to relax

anyone remember petr getting bamboozled by a fabio aurelio free kick years ago, that was a lot more worse than what happened to thibault

Happens to the best keepers, look at Schmeichel best keeper of all time yet he was chipped plenty of times. A keeper would stand where Courtois was many times yet that wouldn't happen. People seem to think Cech doesn't make errors.

Courtois receives a lot more hyperbole than Cech ever did. Regardless, two almost very costly mistakes in consecutive games are worthy of comment, surely? Especially as we're turfing out our established and proven time and again great keeper to make way for him.

It's a serious situation mate, if Cesc is having a good day 'on the ball', then everything is ok, he contributes more than enough, but if he isn't, then you don't get anything because he is too inconsistent with his tackling.

Quote g4......"turnstile"

that was someone else's description, which I liked.

I prefer him deeper. I want him on the ball as much as possible slowing down or speeding up the game as he sees fit. he also then rarely gets marked when he gets ahead of the ball (see the pen for example). he works hard but ultimately he's a positional liability in defensive terms. he's not that much worse than lamps at tackling actually but in terms of tracking runs and not getting pulled out of position he's a lightyear behind. personally I'm happy to sacrifice that in mist games for what he brings to the game when we've got the ball.

I think we use him in the way pirlo is used- the negatives and positives are similar.

p.s. I didn't see oscar's performance as terrible. yes he's out of form but at least he is still working hard. I don't accept the idea that he is coasting, I just think he's lost confidence. yesterday I thought he was doing alright without having a massive input. his problem is that at 1-1 willian won't come off because he has pace (and in this case he was playing better anyway), hazard and fabregas won't come off because they are our two best creative players by far so if we go with two strikers he's always the prime candidate to come off. obviously he needs to improve to change things but I think some are being a little hard on him...

Not saying they aren't but people screaming for him to be dropped for Cech need reminding that Cech also made errors I'm his career. Courtois has done far more good than bad in his time here and he shouldn't lose his place cause of a few mistakes.

Just gonna say Cech lost his place here for a lot less.

The record books say the best keeper in the premier league era over the course of a season is our own Petr. At 32 we are thinking of getting rid of him whilst still very much in his prime, for a keeper who has yet to meet the heights that Cech did at a similar age. Being a successful club our keeper isn't called into action as much as one in the lower ends of the division but is required to be alert at all times for the periods in a game when they are called into service, its this that defines a top keeper. Courtois seriously needs to look at this aspect of his game to fully fulfill his potential.

I get about records and such but Schmeichel was the best, don't think that stats always paint the whole picture

it is a tricky one for chelsea as they see courtois as the future and obviously do not want to risk losing him. if they played cech in front of him for another 2 or 3 seasons would they be able to keep courtois? you could then have the scenario of cech dropping off in a couple of seasons and everbody bemoaning how we let go of the then best in the world keeper courtois. its a tricky one for sure in my opinion.

So did cudicini...it's just good business sense I'm afraid...understand the affection for Pete...he's been awesome for us...but courtois is 10 years younger and can be around for a long, long time...club have made their decision and some of you need to accept it...I don't want to get into a well Pete fcuked up on this goal type conversation cos he's done far more good for us over the years than bad - just like Courtois this season..how soon people forget his heroics in both legs against Liverpool in league cup semi final or v west ham which helped secure massive 1-0 win for example...or the many saves he did against hull which were forgotten cos of hulls second.

Will be interested to know if the same people blaming Courtois for yesterday's goal, also blamed the keepers on the receiving end of similar lobs from long range by becks, Rooney, Figueroa and so on...also occurred to me that one of the reasons he's so far out of his box is cos of lack of pace of JT and Cahill and concern of the ball over the top...And as for the hull goal, Ivanovic was just as to blame for that for such a poor back pass...

Not saying Courtois is completely without fault, but don't think he's done enough wrong to be dropped either..

And there it is in a nutshell...simple answer is Courtois would not have signed a new deal last summer if not promised no1 spot and then the club would have had to sell...so for sake of postponing inevitable of Cech being replaced for a few years, we would have lost a guy who will probably be best keeper in the world for years to come and then struggle to find someone anywhere near as good...certainly for the silly small money we paid for him...which effectively was nothing cos Atletico paid loan fee and his wages for three years, which covered the money we paid Genk in the first place

For ffs people give it a rest weather Tibs f##ked up or Adams scored the goal of the decade who gives a flying f##k we won we got the 3pts were heading towards our 4th premiership title so lets put all our energy and faith into the next match and stop squibeling about who did what save all that sh#te till after the season!! It's shocking how so many people fail to understand that this is a forum and people are going to debate about things.

This forum of late is becoming full of posts telling people to shut up about things. It's like people aren't allowed to have a negative opinion about the club or someone at the club without somebody trying to shut you up. If you don't like it then don't read it, you telling people to give it a rest isn't going to make people stop talking about it.

Whoops sorry scott i must have misunderstood the part about wallowing in the past and moaning about events that have already happened and dwelling on all things negative in that case i think the ref should be hung drawn and quartered for not calling a fail on hazard which led to the Adams goal god i feel so ashamed!!!

Did you actually read a word that Scott wrote? From that response I genuinely don't think you did so I'm a bit perplexed as to why you would quote him. All he was saying is that it's getting a little tiresome of people basically telling others to shut up if they dare question or bemoan something, you've just illustrated his point.

People reflect, analyise, look back at events and comment all the time. If you don't want to talk about the game then there are other forums for you to comment in. This is the match chat, people will converse and exchange opinions about the match, performances or what have you.
