Considering our injuries, anything other than a good win for you would be a surprise. I have absolutely no idea what happened to all of our players..

At least if it was only Carrick out then we could have had Blind in MF. Now it will likely be Rooney. I'd have a MF three of Herrera, Fellaini and either Mata or ADM, but that seems unlikely. One of RVP or Falcao will start now.

:face_palm:

Considering we have one 38 year old striker and you guys have 3 x 200k+ a week ones. I'd say the problems are pretty equal.

The problem United have is only one of them plays like a 200k a week striker, the other two don't and that good one will end up playing midfield.

Blind & Carrick missing not only weakens them but messes with their system.

Problem is that the only one that is playing well (Rooney) will be put into midfield, maybe even as a CDM. That weakens us up top and in midfield. Then we'll have either McNair or Blackett at CB.

I'd say you guys will be fine, as our core has been decimated. You're team is pretty much full strength bar your striker.

All these United players being out is all well and good but it really isn't ever that simple, not with United, not even with this United.

Don't think Rojo or Evans being unavailable really matters much to them, Carrick is the big miss and Jones to a lesser extent. Taking these two out means they have to play around with a winning formation and that is what causes them a problem and is good news for us.

Having Di Maria and Van Persie to bring into the team is not bad though. Di Maria's form has without doubt dropped but he is the sort of player capable of making things happen and would surely relish the chance to prove himself once again on a big stage and Van Persie honestly always scored against us.... even if he is playing gash he is capable turn an offside goal in in the 90th minute, so I will still be very wary.

There is reasons to be confident going into this but I would be wary of thinking we have the win in the bag just because they are forced to introduce £80M worth of talent into the team as a last resort.

De Gea

Valencia Smalling McNair Shaw

Herrera Fellaini ?

Mata Rooney Young

Something like that for tomorrow? What do you reckon?

De Gea

Valencia Smalling McNair Shaw

Herrera Fellaini

Di Maria Mata Young

Rooney

Probably our best option...

Hope to see you around tomorrow after the result, like your posts.

Plus we aren't a forum who gloats if we win, more pick out what we did wrong haha.

Think it'll be 1-1 and I will take that.

From what LVG has said, we'll probably play this:

De Gea

Valencia Smalling Blackett Shaw

Rooney

Herrera Fellaini

Mata RVP/Falcao Young

Because of the injuries, Van Gaal might be even more inclined to leave out Di Maria, so as to balance the team.

I think Zouma will play this one with the sole purpose of marking Fellaini. Branna would usually be good but he'd lose him or be caught out of position each time so it would be a bit pointless. Maybe Oscar will lose out.

----------------- Tibo -------------------

Branna----Cahil----JT----------Azpi

-----------------Zouma-----------------

------Fabregas----------Matic-------

Willian---------------------------Eden

------------------Remy-----------------

We need to get bloody tight to him.

I know Fellaini has been doing well for them of late but come on. I don't think there is any chance we're going to play Zouma in midfield just to mark him as a few people have suggested. I get that we need to pay attention to him, but firstly, we need to try and win the game (especially given their injuries) by controlling midfield and putting Zouma in there is counterproductive to that.

As for handling Fellaini, I would trust our central defenders to do the job inside the box and outside, we just need to take care of the second balls.

We probably will though cause most of their play comes through hitting it towards Fellaini.

Well we will struggle to win the midfield battle without another in there, maybe Oscar will drop deep or Jose will play Rambo in the middle and allow Cesc to play a bit further forward.

We will set up not to lose which is why I don't think we will see our usual shape.

I don't think their midfield is anything special, particularly with Carrick and Blind out. I would expect us to dominate the middle with either of Ramires or Oscar and that will be vital, never mind whether we set up to win or draw the match.
