May 28, 201511 yr Putin has had his say and he's accusing the US of trying to take away the Russian bid for 2018. He's also backing Sepp Blatter.
May 28, 201511 yr So far (7 years before the tournament starts) about 1'500 WC workers have died, compared to London 2012 which sadly saw the loss of one life.

May 28, 201511 yr Putin has had his say and he's accusing the US of trying to take away the Russian bid for 2018. He's also backing Sepp Blatter. 2018 will have to go ahead imo, it is to late to change. But what if the US want Blatter, and Blatter goes to Russia for refuge, and tries to run Fifa from there. Uefa are the key to all this, they should lead the way into the future and run Fifa with an anti corruption morale first and foremost.
May 28, 201511 yr No surprises there then.. Looks like another war is about to be begin as a result of football then.
May 28, 201511 yr Well, by definition of them looking into FIFA they must be looking into UEFA. I'm not sure why you think UEFA are corrupt - not a single FIFA delegate arrested was a UEFA member. The problem with FIFA is that it's an organisation, now, where every country has the same power. So Blatter can get by without caring what UEFA think of him as long as he has enough minor Asian and African countries on his side. But every association should have an equal say, but there should be legislation in place that those who committed or attempted to commit fraud are band from international competitions for 10 years and voting for 20
May 28, 201511 yr Author But every association should have an equal say, but there should be legislation in place that those who committed or attempted to commit fraud are band from international competitions for 10 years and voting for 20 The problem is that different country's have a different threshold for what they consider to be corruption.
May 28, 201511 yr But every association should have an equal say, but there should be legislation in place that those who committed or attempted to commit fraud are band from international competitions for 10 years and voting for 20 I don't agree with that. Why does the Papau New Guinea FA have the same voting rights as the Spanish FA ? One represents 10 clubs, the other represents 1000's. There should be something closer to a tiered system where the larger FAs have a bigger vote. Otherwise, by representation, it becomes unfair. Also - why would you ban a country from the sport just because the representative of that country , on the FIFA stage only, is accepting bribes and committing fraud by doing so ?
May 28, 201511 yr http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-32917364 Fifa president Sepp Blatter has chaired an emergency meeting, as the football world governing body is mired in crisis over a growing corruption scandal. Mr Blatt is under pressure to step down and delay a vote due on Friday for the next Fifa president following the arrests of seven top Fifa officials. Many of its key sponsors have expressed concern, including Coca Cola and Visa, which also says it may review its ties. UK Prime Minister David Cameron has backed calls for Mr Blatt to resign. Mr Blatter was not among the 14 people charged by the US authorities on Wednesday with racketeering, fraud and money laundering. He hoping to secure a fifth term at Fifa's congress in the Swiss city of Zurich on Thursday. The European football body Uefa will decide whether to boycott Friday's vote for the next Fifa president. The meeting on Thursday was Mr Blatter's first since the crisis began on Wednesday. Uefa chief Michel Platini was said to be among the confederation representatives in attendance.
May 28, 201511 yr No surprise here. Blatter refuses to resign. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32914907
May 28, 201511 yr We (US) won't be going after UEFA. The only reason we went after who we did is because they used the US banking system and had meetings to commit fraud on US soil. You can tell who the bribed countries are , those backing Sep

May 28, 201511 yr I'm amazed that Blatter can claim that he has no responsibility. What a Teflon response!

Spot on. I bet he'd be the first person who would take all the praise if any was given to UEFA. As President he can't pick and choose.

OK the banning is perhaps a bit excessive and unfair. Qualified Majority voting could work and capped to some degree, otherwise it could be extremely difficult to defeat China and India if they vote together. We shouldn't have more of a say just because we are West European countries.

Some people didn't receive their brown envelope in time before the meeting so the decision wasn't unanimous...
May 28, 201511 yr So Blatter says he can't be held responsible for things happening within his organisation...... Erm isn't that his job?
May 28, 201511 yr His rival, is apparently a direct descendant of the prophet Mohammad. http://www.weareasia.com/en/about/who-we-are/ali/ Yeah ok.

May 28, 201511 yr His rival, is apparently a direct descendant of the prophet Mohammad. http://www.weareasia.com/en/about/who-we-are/ali/ Yeah ok. loooooooooooooool tbf I don't think, if he's elected, they'd allow his religious beliefs (although this is a little different...) to influence his the decision he makes anyways. Right...? Edited May 28, 201511 yr by MANoWAR
