Ideally, we keep our squad exactly as it is, promote Christensen or Aina from the Under-21s, add Bamford to the strike force, then spend big on Bale. But more realistically, none of that will happen and we will probably pay over the odds for Falcao, buy Varane when he isn't a priority, then go for an experienced almost out of contract midfielder who will only serve to delay RLC's development for at least another season, if not longer.

If Varane is available, then he's absolutely a priority in my opinion simply because JT isn't going to be around forever and Varane is the closest thing to him coming through at the moment.

 

Would love to see Aina promoted but he just isn't ready yet and Christensen needs a couple of years somewhere. At the moment I'd be more willing to give Kalas another go.

 

Bamford needs minutes and he simply won't get them here in my opinion, but I could be wrong. How many do you think he'd get if Costa and Remy remained?

Not only do I not want pogba, I'm catagroricly against it. For me signing a 23 year old for 50 ish million pounds in a positions where we currently have pretty decent options and at least 2 maybe 3 very promising youth team players basically says the academy is for accumulative profit. United missed f**ked up on pogba because they didn't trust he was ready. I'd rather we didn't make the same mistake

What's enough? Bear in mind Drogba only got so many minutes because Costa and Remy were injured. That's not guaranteed to happen again.

Good point on Varane though. I reckon he could get half the minutes Cahill got but then you have to consider Zouma too. Maybe the sampdoria links have some truth to them and we'd loan him.

I just think that if Varane was available then he's a priority simply because we need to replace JT at some point. Zouma for me is a great foil to a JT or Varane (a bit like Carvalho was) so if it came to it, I'd probably reduce Cahill's minutes and make JT,Varane and Zouma the first 3 defenders in the depth chart.

I doubt he will change that much, he had simillar stats in the Championship. Charlie Austin strongest attribute is his aerial ability, if we wanted someone dominant in the air though, then Benteke has 187 Aerial duels won (54.84% success) compared to Austins 86 (31.27% success).

I get that but look at the team Austin was in aswell they scored a whopping 42 goals Austin scored 28 and assisted 11 of those so he's clearly not an average player.

Get what you mean but literally everything in QPR was designed to go through austin. They always suited their formation, style to get the best out of him because he's the only decent player. When he wasn't playing well on the day or was out then they looked even more lost. That's quite similar to demba ba in newcastle where I heard a lot of fans complaining that they sucked up to him to suit his play the best, although when he left they realised it was for the best. When he came to Chelsea he had some good games but nowhere to the standard of him when he was at newcastle.

He wouldn't get anywhere near the same luxury here, even as a backup. Either Lacazette or Griezmann would suit that a lot better I feel. Maybe Benteke but Villa would want huge sums.

I would definitely take higuain as an option for strikers. If we are to challenge on four fronts this season we need strong back up options. Costa as great as he is.is prone to injuries and so too is remy. Last season we had to rely on drogba quite a few times to lead the line

I would have Austin but I'm by no means pointing out that he's good enough for us just simply that he can't be called average (a word I'm finding far overused lately). But to come here as a third choice he'd be a great option however that's unlikely and I imagine a team maybe just above mid table would be more his level.

Benteke blows hot and cold and I doubt he would entertain the idea of being a bench warmer.
