bale spanking inter milan may rekindle some memories..

Is that the campaign when they played Real Madrid in the quarters? I guess it must be, not like they get champs league slot very often.

That's correct MB and they only appeared once in this decade in the 2010-2011 season.

Before that they were in the European Cup (now known as the Champions League) in the 1961-1962 season.

If England & Italy repeat 2014/15 displays, Premier League WILL lose 4th Champions League spot http://skysports.tv/6erF9x

I always thought England's coefficients were pretty safe from Italy's but a quick glance at the UEFA site gave me a shock at how close they really were.

All the English clubs better buck up or else the 4th place trophy will be gone.

The Fallout from such a thing happening would be too much to behold for little sh*tty clubs like Arsenal who rely on the fourth place trophy to keep their manager.

Eh? See what I did there, Zinc? Ahahaha

Nice one haha! Have you played it, by the way?

On a serious note, with the clear signs of the PL's increasing competitiveness, the battle for top 3 (gulp) will be more intense and I'm pretty worried that every bad results in the league will now have bigger implications to our CL qualification.

Oh, and in some ways, I want Wenger to stay and I wouldn't mind if them winning the 4th place trophy every year can let him keep his job (so that we can continue to whoop their arses).

If 4th goes away, prepare yourself to see outlandish transfer fees the preceeding summer.

Indeed, us, Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Scumsuckers and Spuds will be throwing as much money as they can everywhere (well, maybe not Arsenal but you know)... more so than usual. FFP is clearly out the window (otherwise Man City would have been chucked out of Europe) so who gives a flying anymore???

Another poor night for the English clubs. Thankfully, Roma lost their game.

If the 4th place trophy is gone, I wonder how much would someone like Pogba cost in that summer?

We may get lucky this season. Lazio missed out on qualifying for the Champions League so Italy will always be another team down than us. As long as 1 or 2 of the English teams in the Champions League and Europa League win a game every round, we should be ok this season.

Things must change next season though, English teams cannot continue to be this bad, we are falling too far behind Spain and the other countries are catching us up.

I don't get why teams like Tottenham and Liverpool are still fielding weakened sides in the Europa League, do they not realise that if they win it they will get into the Champions League ? Surely this is their best chance of getting into the Champions League now. The English sides disrespect towards that competition over the years is another reason why Italy are so close to us.

I think these things come in fads. A few seasons ago, we dominated Europe for a number of seasons. It will come back around.

However,I think English clubs are taking it for granted. If we do lose a spot, clubs will soon start taking it seriously.

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I've not been on here as much lately so I might have missed it.

UEFA trying to punish City because their fan booed the CL "anthem"

How pathetic, I hope City fans continue to boo it loudly each and every time, I wish we had done the same after the Ovrebo game.

I think it was mentioned in the Nearest and Dearest thread.

Well, the CL anthem is sacrosanct, isn't it, and I'm sure it's somewhere in the rules that one should stand up, hats off, hand on the heart, tears in the eyes, sing along, hoarse with emotion and gratitude for the Institution that is UEFA.

Seriously though, an anthem? Most megalomaniacal idea ever.
