Chelsea vs Liverpool (PL) 31/10/15 KO 12:45 GMT

Featured Replies

I had the good fortune to miss most of that game as I'd to take a bunch of kids out for my daughter's birthday party. When I left the house we were 1 up and looking pretty comfortable - then it all went to sh*t.

Having followed this thread all afternoon it's pretty clear that we lacked ambition, we lacked character and we lacked commitment - it seems we have a group of players who won the league but who are not made of the stuff of true champions. I hope that tonight there are a number of Chelsea players who are feeling ashamed of the performances they are giving. It's just not good enough. I wonder what JT is really thinking.

We are in such a hole I don't know what the solution is. Some people say "it's Jose's tactics - he's been found out" but if the guys on the pitch were delivering, the tactics would still work. I think Hazard needs to take a long hard look at himself - player of the year? If he wants to be an elite player, he's got to show some fight. Maybe he was a one season wonder.

I think Jose may get the chop before Christmas - I'll be sad about that but there seems little else Abramovich can do to try to inject some life into the squad. The alternative is to hang on to Jose and have a major clear out and rebuild starting in January - that's possibly the road to disaster but if we brought in a few guys who weren't living off their reputations and who were prepared to work for the team and the manager, it'd be a start.

This season only Azpi and Willian get my vote, they look like honest, hardworking professionals. The rest of them (JT excluded) look like a bunch of lazy, self-satisfied losers. If it was FIFA16, I'd sell almost everyone and start from scratch.

If you were a fan in the late 70-80s now you may understand what it used to feel like following Chelsea. So personally I can take this and 100% Jose is the man to lead us out of this.

I was, but the players were not multi millionaires, so a different mindset & reasons are about today.

Well, that was fun for about teh first ten minutes.  But, like everyone else has pointed out, once we sat back and invited the pressure, I knew we were in for a rough time. The Liverpool goal came at the worst possible time, but I was literally screaming at the players "put a f**king tackle in!" after the clock went past 47 minutes.  The players completely switched off, and that is inexcusable.  Watch Terry for Coutinho's first...he was the only one putting in any effort, and then he threw his head back in disbelief/frustration when he saw the inevitable bulge in the back of the net.

I don't know what's up with Hazard, or Oscar, but Hazard has been poor for a long time.  I'm also starting to worry about the situation that he's fallen out with the Belgium coach in the past, as that reeks of an over inflated ego.  I like my players to have a bit of an ego, but not if that leads to complacency at the expense of the rest of the team.

Mikel, love him or loathe him, when he was replaced by the frustratingly apathetic Fabregas we conceded twice.  Problem is Jose will continue to play with him, and continue to play people out of position at RB and LB respectively.

Clattenburg was bad, don't get me wrong.  The taking to for Can, the unbelievable yellow for Mikel followed by the even more bizarre non-yellow for Lucas.  However, we weren't showing anything that made me think we'd have got anything from the game even if we were playing against 10 men.

So, what next for Jose.  Well, first let me say that it is extremely annoying in the build up, during, and after the game to hear commentators, talking heads, pundits, etc all gleefully guessing that "this is a must win for Jose!"  They are almost feverishly relishing his pending sacking, and yet they'd have little to talk about if he were to go.   I think Jose has until the Spurs game to right things.  In that time we are playing teams in and around us in the league, so they are very crucial.  We'll also have played 2 CL games by then and will have a good insight as to where we are.  Jose has done enough, both at Chelsea and in European football in general to be allowed this bad season...CL football or not.  Man Utd were out for a season, injected some funds and are competing again even if LVG seems clueless at times (this is another frustrating thing , our usual rivals aren't overly impressive either, so we are really bad).

Also..if the press again continue to target Costa for a retrospective ban, even though Skyrtel was equally as aggressive, then Jose should give every interview for the rest of the season like he did his post match today.

Christ look at those gnashers, give her a sugar lump someone...

Putting innuendo; and jokes aside; we will never know how much Evas departure has impacted on the psyche of the players. Ok she had no impact on the team or tactics; but I think she held a certain hold over them and they miss her. To them its probably along the lines of a breavement; that and the departure of Cech. Petr was a commanding figure on and off the field. I think some might need councilling daft as it sounds.

Atmosphere seem pretty sh*t today even before things went wrong, do we get a different clientele for these early kick offs or do we all need a skin full to cheer our team on?

I would hate to see Jose leave now, especially under these circumstances. Even after today's result, he has done enough to earn longer to turn this around. The worst thing we could do now is lose him, but I fear the worst after this latest setback.

Hopefully the new stadium will have a section for partisan support... in certain sections of Euro grounds you get lynched if you don't get behind the team. May seem extreme but it works (you don't buy a ticket in that section if you know what will happen). How many tourists do you see in the Kop, or Dortmund's yellow wall?

Bit pissed at the mo so i dont want to write anything i regret apart from the fact iam totally f##ked off with this now wether joses the problem or not this sh#t has to stop now its gone on for far too long for anyone to call it a crisis this is a f##king catastrophy of the highest order and the board haveto start acting before this turns into proper relegation battle...

Jesus wept  :face_palm:

If all that's wrong is decisions and the world's against us , then we have nothing to put right in training. It's time to face it, he's just not handling this bad patch at all well. In fact his media management and overall attitude is rubbing off on the players . How can that type of attitude inspire anything or anybody. A couple of decisions have gone against us but he should come out and admit we must improve and liverpool deserved to win.

Seriously I don't know what it sounded like on TV but in the stadium for the most part the crowd were great.

Jose is first to say " I have won this, I have won that " etc. not once has he taken responsibility and claimed responsibility for poor performance. His interviews are never honest. I think he lies to himself.

Get that on there

dear shedenders - meet the new Darogba....

Let's face it!

If rafa was still here we probably would have won it 5 times by now.

I must admit, im seriously close to burning my plastic flag at the moment

I swear , only coz I worked hard to deserve this flag rather than have it given to me for nothing. Is the only reason it's not up in flames right now

,

^ situation normal after we've played/won/lost to the poo...in they come & out they'll go. Some of course do a better job of disguising themselves than others.

Have you ever seen Gerrard win the league?

Hahaha! You lot just get more pathetic! Singing the slipped G song as your only amo at the end of the game and he doesn't even play for us anymore.

What's more apt is...have you ever seen Mourinho pull a side out of a slump?
