Chelsea vs Dynamo Kiev (CL) 04/11/15 KO: 19:45 BST

Featured Replies

I want us to start with this team;

Begovic

Azpilicueta

Cahill

JT

Rahman

Matic

Mikel

Willian

Fabregas

Hazard

Costa

If this dosen't work, then play the kids and the likes of Willian, Azpilicueta at the weekend against Stoke.

Where the hell is Pedro, went back to Barca? I'm done about making predictions, let's hope Jose finally woke up and take some positive change. Don't play for 1:0, we need at least 2 goals to get anything out of this match.

You make a great point; where is Pedro ? Whats he done since he arrived for £19m with a great reputation as a cultured player at the culture club Barca. I believe he was not fit v Liverpool; but if fit Tues I would play him and lets get a performance out of him.

How about

Begovic

Azi

Cahill

Zouma

Azi

Cesc

Matic

Ram

Pedro

Costa

Willian

I agree with posters here we need a result from this game. When you see the likes of Everton slamming 6 in; it makes you stand back in some sort of wonder; that seems out of reach at Chelsea right now.

Like you, I'm convinced we'd be better off if we had cloned Azpilicueta, sad thing is the medical team isn't quite that advanced as yet.

Begovic

Zouma

Cahill

Terry

Azpi

Fabregas

Matic

Hazard

Willian

Pedro

Costa

Nobody will see it coming.

Holy f**k.

We would get top four with that team

Why hasn't Jose used this before?

Losing by a goal is fine to you?

Hate to ruin the mood of my fellow fans but there is no chance in my opinion that Baba will start tomorrow, Yarmalenko showed how good he was against Azpi 2 weeks ago despite the fact he was handled very well. Jose will want to keep that going as we've seen already this season he doesn't trust Baba against pacy opponents... Or any opponent really

I personally have not much problem with the selections. I am more concerned with the formation stubbornness and tactical approach.
Once we have scored against Liverpool we backed off to play a counter... Why? Keep pushing, score again while they are stunned.

And regarding the formation rivals have learned already how to play against us. They push the wings as our L/R backs are always higher up the pitch so target is to either pass them on a break or simply stop them from supporting front. Our Wide players get too static and wait for a defender to make a move before trying to trick/pass through them.

Need to change approach, tactics, formation. Squad is all good. Just the opponents got smarter.

Oh yes, we had Azpi defending so ever well against Konoplyanka. He must remain on the left. That means R/B is up for Zouma again which I am not so sure about.

I doubt Jose will start Kenedy and he'll probably start Fabregas, this has been part of the problem this season and you have to blame him for that, he won't pick youth and he won't drop out of form players. His treatment of RLC has been fairly shocking.

---------------------Begovic---------------------

----Zouma---Cahill----Terry----Azpilicueta---

----------------Matic----Mikel--------------------

--Willian/Pedro--Fabregas/Oscar---Hazard---

---------------------Costa--------------------------

Don't like Zouma at right back but Dave did a good job on Yarmalenko last time so has to play there again really, Mikel has done well in recent games and passes the ball a bit better than Ramires.

Would be nice to see Pedro back as he gives us something a bit different, UTC.

di matteo

lamps

vialli

zola

drogba

personally I cant see this whole form situation working out even if we beat (and we should beat) Kiev.

something is going on which us fans are being kept in the dark over. JT has clearly stuck up for Hazard over the whole doctor issue, seeing as he wanted treatment and the ref asked them on, I just dont get it at all. JT gets dropped but then Jose realises his other defenders cant cut the mustard.

lets hope the Kiev match brings a new run of results, lets face it, after this our league run is more than winable.

something has to give. Jose can be replaced believe it or not, but the managers out there at the mo dont bare thinking about, capello? or dare i suggest rodgers or AVB like the BBC did recently....

on another note - a bit of lamps or the drog in january might just do the trick, even if it was just training.

carefree

Dave did a good job on Yarmalenko last time so has to play there again really.

Dave does a good job every match. Future captain there....

I would go with:

---------------Bergovic----------------

Baba---Zouma---Terry---Azpilicueta

--------Matic-------Ramires----------

Willian------Fabregas--------Hazard

--------------Costa-------------------

I know players like Fabregas, Hazard and Matic haven't preformed like last season, but i think this is the core that will bring us back :)

The Choice:

Despite winning the title, Jose asked for significant investment in the squad over the summer but it didn't really happen.

Our net summer spend of £30 million is less than a third of our TV revenue from last season.

Transfer policy is clearly not with the manager (he would never have let Cech go to one of our rivals - especially not to the 'specialist in failure'). It seems as if he is being treated as the 'first team coach' rather than 'club manager'. This lack of control has spilled over into his dealings with staff (Eva and Jon Fearn), the transfer committee and, now, some of the players - including JT and Hazard.

If we lose to Kiev, the temptation (and natural reaction) will be to pull the trigger, which (based on the past 10 years) I would expect. This will lead to another 'interim manager' until Pep decides next March or April that he wants to take another year off. Then we will either get rid of the interim, hire him based on some 'recovery' or get someone less successful that our current manager (unless Sir Alex can be persuaded to come out of retirement).

Whoever the new manager is, they will need a lot of investment in the squad to correct what will have been a disastrous season.

There is another choice:

Give the most successful manager in the club's history (and one of the most successful in the game) the authority and funds to build the team that he wants (just like SAF at ManU). Don't treat him as 'just a coach'. Get rid of the bureaucracy that CFC has become. If he screws up then, it is easy to get rid of him but at least you will know that there are no excuses.

If we get a performance and a draw from the Kiev game, 'The Choice' will be put on hold - at least until the next game.

But in the end, it must be made. Which will it be?

Edited by Gus_Mears

Well if he's lost the dressing room it won't matter who he picks; we will see the same lack of commitment that we have seen the past number of weeks............but 3 points would be nice for a change.
