Who the f**k is Emenalo

Featured Replies

Haha fair enough.

In which case what must have happened was that Bayern saw our success in their back garden, took one look at the recently-appointed Emenalo and thought "we need us one of them".

They only had to ask - they could have had him.

To be fair copying the Emenalo approach clearly worked considering they won the Champions League the following season.

Yep, this Emenalo is actually a genius. Turns out he is responsible for at least two Champions League triumphs and I wouldn't be surprised if somehow he has had a lot to do with the success at Barca and he no doubt discovered Messi & Neymar.

Give the bloke a pay-rise.

Just reading Martin Samuel's column in the Mail where he continues his recent line of praising John Terry and expressing disbelief at his not being offered a new contract and I came upon this line.

If it was up to the experienced and respected football people at Chelsea – and by that I mean Guus Hiddink, not Michael Emanelo – Terry would have his one-year extension by now and would be next season’s captain.

Ignoring the typo, I think he's (once again) spot on. Emenalo is one of two things in my opinion. He's either a patsy, a yes-man who has no real responsibility and should be replaced by someone who would have greater responsibility, or he actually does have a lot of responsibility and he simply isn't qualified for it.

Neither is acceptable for a club of our stature.

Guess they didnt see our league finish then.

CFC is similar to a lot of other large companies all over the Globe in the business world, the owner will employ a Lot of Yes Men ( aka ...Michael Emanelo ) and Yes Lady (. Aka ......Marina Granavaskai ).

It's Romans money and he does what he wants. Let's face it, we have had a great lot of success so stop moaning !

Well then as a business, we need more experienced men in the background that know the subject at hand rather than some yes man from the backwoods of Israel.

When you look at Emenalo's CV, its shocking that he's so high up in such a top club when he's done nothing to justify it. Emenalo never had the experience yet Wilkins was shafted to make room for him, he even recommended the club to hire Benitez.

Emenalo is a cancer and must be removed immediately.

I don't think that's fair at all. Avram's been in management for 30 years, and in coaching for his entire adult life. He knows the club and he knows the league.

Yet he arrived at the club completely unqualified (literally) to take the role. Yes he's been in coaching for his entire adult life but surely the level at which he's worked matters doesn't it?

You can hardly appoint a petrol station worker to the board at British Gas because he's got 30 years experience working in the oil and gas sector can you? That's not quite what we did but it's this trend of hiring his mates that Roman seems to have that people aren't happy with.

Is it entitled to think we deserve better? To be run professionally?

Grant is a fraud, he should never have been anywhere near Chelsea especially taking over as manager, its well known Clarke basically ran the team, look at the footage of the League Cup final v Spurs, during the extra time team talk Grant walked around on the outside of the players circle scratching his head while Terry & Clarke gave the team talk.

Another thing if Grant was so qualified how comes he couldnt get a job for 18months after leaving Chelsea? when he did get a job he got two different clubs relegated, West Ham & Pompey, within a couple of years.

Got to agree with you Charshalton.

Even a young AVB with his one season at Porto had more relevant experience than Grant and all his years in Israeli football.

Grant is professional. Israeli teams may not be on the level of the elite global sides, but they still play in European competition (as we should well know from our unfortunate foray into the UEFA Cup at the beginning of the century). In addition to that, Grant revolutionised his Maccabi Tel-Aviv side, taking them from years in the doldrums back to the top of Israeli football. The importance of coaching badges is fairly nebulous as well - Franz Beckenbauer never had them and managed to win a World Cup!

Also there is no way he can be blamed for the relegation of that shambles of a Portsmouth side. He inherited a team which was already bottom of the league, haemorrhaging players and facing a nine-point deduction for going into administration. The fact that he even managed to get them to an FA Cup Final is pretty impressive.

None of that particularly matters though, as the point I was making was that consulting Avram over our next appointment (assuming the story is even true) is hardly an unreasonable move. The owner trusts him, he has decades of experience in European football, and he knows the club. Some people are far too keen to kick off about what's going on behind the scenes, when in truth we don't know the first thing about it.

What was revolutionary 20 years ago is old-hat now and there were plenty of reports from him time here that he was outdated. Not sure there's a need to revise the view of Grant as anything more than a good coach in a small league but one who is simply not up to the standard required by the big leagues. A lack of coaching badges is perhaps all he has in common with Der Kaiser.

We know a bit but the biggest evidence for the mess behind the scenes is the horror-show on the pitch. Grant and his protege would not be hired by any other major club in Europe yet Emenalo got his job because of Grant and has somehow risen up the ranks here. I think anyone who purports to have even the slightest affection for this club would find it disgraceful that such a man is given any responsibility whatsoever.

When Roman wanted a new stadium, he went to the best in the business. All us fans want is for him to act with the same level of professionalism when it comes to appointing Technical Directors.

  • 4 weeks later...

More like he's giving him a promotion

Life President maybe? Could just name the North Stand in the new stadium after him, but is that really enough of a thanks?

I think he'd rather we just throw his face up on the gate outside it.
