Isco

Featured Replies

Didn't start once again last night. Benitez preferred Kovacic. Hoping he keeps that up...

He got himself sent off, will surely start the next game.

For all the quality he has, I don't think Isco is any better than Oscar when playing behind the striker. At least not £30m better anyway. He's more useful further back and that's not a position Oscar plays so we could have both in the starting XI.

Still, if City bid for him he'll join them. They had him all but signed before Madrid swooped in at the last minute.

Can't see where he would fit in at City unless they offload a number of players first. That said he maybe a player happy to sit on the bench and collect his £200k each week.

I do like Isco as a player but I wouldn't want him in same starting 11 as Oscar, Hazard, Pedro & Willian. It would make us too light-weight / Arsenal like. With probably no JT next season I don't want to see teams bully and intimidate us even more than we have seen at times this season. As usual, it's all about a balanced squad so if Isco did come in, we would no doubt be looking to move one or two on.

I think in the starting XI he could and probably should replace Toure but they will lose out on his height and strength. Depends on who the manager is come next season I suppose, for Pep that wouldn't be too much of a problem. I think he will get a good amount of games at City, they will be playing 60 games or so and Isco can play a total of 4 positions. I think under most managers he will find himself getting between 30 to 40 apps, probably more with players like Silva and Aguero who get injured a fair bit. Maybe Narsi would leave but he barely plays anyway due to his injuries.

As long as we replace Fabregas with Isco in the tough games, it wouldn't really matter what the front three was. Isco is quite the pitbull once he goes going so I don't think there's much to worry about there. We would most likely have to sell someone though as we don't really get injuries very often or long enough, so I can see why people would sacrifice Oscar even though they are both effective at different positions.

I meant to include Faregas in what I put!

If it was a straight replacement for Fabregas that would work but I haven't seen enough of Isco this season to be able to form an opinion of whether he would be better than Fabregas at his best (not THIS SEASON!!).

The biggest diffrence between Isco and Fabregas/Oscar is that he is able to get past players with his dribbling and speed. I think thats an important quality for an attacking midfielder/winger and it also makes Isco alot more versatile. I would also like to add that Isco and Fabregas is on another level to Oscar when it comes to passing and vision.

I wouldn't mind selling Oscar or Fabregas for Isco, both of them have been struggling with inconsistency for a long time. It shouldn't be that hard to get atleast 20-25 mil for either of them to fund a move for Isco.

I also think Isco will join City, if they bid though.

A few years ago he would have been an ideal signing but at present we are a team of lightweights and would Much rather purchase a more physical player in the middle of the pitch.
