Welcome Pato

If Remy is going, Pato, Falcao and Costa cannot be our 3 striking options. Falcao wont be fit for weeks on end yet. Think someone else needs to arrive

"[...] with Hiddink prepared to turn to a youth-team forward, most likely Bertrand Traoré, to provide cover if Rémy departs. Patrick Bamford is set to join Norwich on loan until the summer."

Whilst I don't disagree with this deal, I do worry that our focus on breaking even and running a profit is hampering our squad quality. You don't see any of the top spending so little. Feels like it's all about whether the player comes here cheap rather than whether he will improve the team.

'We are short of strikers and let's look at

available strikers,'" Hiddink revealed. "Not having

[Radamel] Falcao and with [Loic] Remy's injury

frequency, I said let's go for it [the Pato deal]. The

green light is mine and getting him on loan means there's no big risk for the club."-

your worry is unnecessary.. if a quality player is available within a reasonable price, I believe we would still do the business, problem is they're not available.. take suarez for example or even bale, if either of them is available for around 70mils, we'd go for it.. 100 mils for either one is a different matter tho because it's a bit overpriced, it's not the case of not having the money but not so good in business sense.. stone and pogba are good examples in this case..

Pedro, Costa, Fabregas and Luis heck even Cuadrado were all signing we have made in the last 2 season in which we paid top dollar and that we knew it was unlikely we would make a profit on them.

It seems to me as we have 2 very different policies when signing players if they are for our first team squad including first rotation we are happy to spend without thinking about future profit. Where as if it is for a fringe or youth player we are looking to make money off it and these sorts of signings are the signings that allow us the spend big when we need too.

Think we're taking a big risk on Pato, he hasnt played since Nov so not match fit, add the hustle & bustle of the PL, new country & football could he step up to the plate if Costa gets injured? i seriously doubt it, it baffles me here we are once again in a season light up front.

Remember the days when we had the likes of Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Sturridge, Malouda, in our squad.

sigh

The fat lump that was crucial to us winning the Prem last season?

sh*tballs man, what's your problem?

Really? . If not for our midfield last season he would have jack s**t as seen this season when our midfield don't perform we don't have a striker who can make something out of nothing. He might be a good finisher but so are all the other strikers who also offer a lot more then just getting on the end of crosses.

So there we have it, a little peep into the real world of managing Chelsea FC.

We actually have people on here who think the managers have some kind of control over who is coming in and out.

Hopefully they will now see different.

Cue the 'he's only interim" excuses.

I agree with the contribution of our midfield last season but why single out Costa. He doesn't have a history of being prolific in front of goal, we knew that when we signed him.

Cue there is no actual quotes in that passage I could quite easily write something saying Guus Hiddink is an alien from space doesn't make it true.

I've seen plenty of stories saying Guus had the final word on this transfer and gave the green light, again doesn't mean that's true.

Also how does that passage show that Hiddink doesn't have any control over transfers? to me it just says that he has valid concerns and is being honest about them.

I get that he's not a natural striker, but the point is he's a versatile player who will be utilised as a winger/striker and I'm not sure how Harry can't understand that.

He's probably angling for a job as pundit seeing that he won't get any more chances to get back into management in the PL ;)

There is not much quality in winter window and summer we have plenty time to spend big if needs be. We have bought a striker to help as cover for what we have and a young cb, both for a low price.

I agree with your comment regarding the striker position. We have bought what is possible in this winter window and, sincerely, I hope he is as versatile as they say and we can see Pato playing as second striker and wider together with Costa.
