Welcome Pato

Best quote I read yesterday was from a Brazilian journalist who said (paraphrasing)..

"Pato is the only player that Corinthians ever sold/loaned to Sao Palo where the fans did not riot.. they just didn't care"

Washed up and will not do a thing... I'm happy to say that and for all you 'positive' posters on here to quote me when I'm wrong, because he'll have done something then.

For those criticizing this deal. Let's ignore the fact that the likes of Utd, Pool, Benfica were also interested him and focus of the fact that Remy's looking to leave, Falcao's forever on the treatment table and the club has an interim in charge in a winter window. Please which player transfer would be more logical than this pato deal?

Playing Remy when Costa was out of form would have been more logical, then he might not want to leave and we wouldn't even have to discuss how ridiculous this signing is.

Well no point beating a dead horse. Now he's looking to leave, we did the next best thing by replacing him with a low-risk signing. Also the club's has been rumored to state that Traore's isn't available for loan, if true, that's another positive.

where is he even going to play? he's been played out wide in brazil, so are we expecting him to be back up striker? will it be costa, pato and traore as our 3 strikers? disappointed traore has been given less playing time than remy up front to prove himself as a capable striker.

Pretty decent article on Pato by BBCs south american journo Tim Vickery.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2609730-the-second-coming-of-pato-hope-remains-for-brazils-great-enigma-at-chelsea

Good article. I think it's worth a punt on Pato. Six month deal to check out his form, fitness and suitability for the Premier League.

It's not as if we're spending big money on him and his wages are modest compared to Falcao.

At 26 he might feel he's still got something to prove and if he's over his party days then we could be on to a good thing.

Either way we've got little to lose and everything to gain if it works out.

This guy basically said Kenedy is rubbish and wouldn't be able to cope with English football, so it's hard to take what he says seriously.

Kenedy is decent, but hasn't stood out entirely yet. Time will tell. I still think traore will be a better player.

He's coming to us on the back of a good season, with a ratio of almost one goal every 2 games. Pretty decent even if you could argue against Brazilian club football being poor compared to Europe.

Either way, there is more to be positive about than negative in my opinion he still young and still has a lot to offer where as Falcao, Torres AND Shevchenko were all bought off the back of major knee injuries. If Pato still has his pace he will do fine.

All smacks a bit of short termism rather than a vision for the future

While we've got an interim manager, this is a sensible option. Let's have a look at those visions of future (beyond next summer) after the season is over and we've got a new manager.

You say Harry Redknapp is a joke etc. But he was spot on about Lampard when he was 17. About how he was going to go right to the top and that there'd be no comparison to what Frank will achieve in Football and what Scott Canham will achieve.

Have to respect that.

I do respect that, however, he also deemed Chris Samba worth £10m and £100k a week. A broken clock is correct twice a day.

have to say i am actually pretty pleased with our business this window,Pato on this price is a good deal IMO,Miazga looks like an amazing prospect who might actually stay and play for us,and the Ramires sale might mean that RLC plays more so all in all a very good window for me

Unfortunately, since time travel will not be invented until 2047, altering past team selections is not a very realistic solution.
