Chelsea vs. Newcastle Sat, 13 Feb 2016 17:30

I think he meant 10 games unbeaten in the league, in a row, being the best in the league.  Not that 10 is our position.

ah why didn't he say so - I was just happy to pass palace in the league table

Yeah that's what I meant, unbeaten streak. Sorry for not being clear.

The mid table is really tight. Just 4 points between 8th and 14th.

I realized that our last match is Leicester. Does this mean we could potentially face a decision about whether to purposely lose to prevent Arsenal (or Tottenham or City) from winning the league?

Is there really a decision to make? Unless we need the points to go to Europe (I'm starting to discard relegation fight after today), there's no difficult choice. We let the foxes take the three points and happy to give the two fingers to the others.

Yes Newcastle were sh*t, but we were superb...Cesc, Willian and Costa in particular...how bloody annoying though that JT went off injured, can't help but worry with PSG to come

Just like everyone else said it was good to sit back, relax and enjoy the game.

Man, that through ball to Costa though... He was FAST! He definitely improved his fitness from the beginning of season.

Also Pedro, both goals are nice nevertheless, very happy for him.

I don't care how sh*t the Geordies were, I saw the most entertaining game this season. All goals were open play, some great passing and a great team mentality. We are very close to the bin dippers and have a +2 goal difference. Particularly enjoyed the 4 amigo's they all scored or set one up, Dave on the right looked dangerous! Happy days, cheers Chelsea, let's go to Paris and give them a hiding!

Just watched highlights from this game and we've played better than we have in a long time. Pedro and Costa looked at their predatory best, while Fabregas was supplying killer balls as well as he did early in 2014/15. First Chelsea goal for Traore?

First Premier League goal. He scored against MK Dons. I'm quickly becoming a major fan of his.

Thought fab's passing was brilliant today. Killer through balls.

Hazard not there somehow and baba a bit loose defensively. Pedro imperfect despite his two giaks

Back home from The Bridge and a few celebration beers. What a match! Our team played the best this season. Even Matic had a good game! My doubt is whether we saw the Chelsea we want back because Newcastle did not perform, or if they did not play because our lads didn't let them. I'm tempted to go with the second option 'cause when we were up by 2 or 3 and waiting back for them, we still showed a solid defence and pressing well in midfield. Other games we started winning but ended up losing (Southampton or Liverpool spring to my mind). Nice to see Hazard play all 90 minutes, and nice build up to Traore's goal. Though he missed a clear chance that last year would have been a goal. I also like Traore's attitude but did see some manners in RLC that I did not like, especially when instead of tackling he took his arms up to protect himself from a possible thump of the ball. Overall I think the team should get the confidence needed for the next couple of games.

First game me and the boy have been to for a while and we picked a cracker! I seriously didn't know Pedro had that in him, the whole team played well and the first 20 mins was electric!

Not really a great performance but certainly a great result.. well done..

Are you sure your name doesn't end  with an X?

I'd rather not be in Europe at all than go into the Europa league.

Thursday night football would be a real drain on our league season in 2016/17

We'd better not win the FA Cup then :-)

That foul wrapped around his leg.

Really ? how was that not a great performance ?

Because I use comparison, there were a couple of sloppy breakdown in link up play, it's not as accurate as it should be, personally I think the game against sunderland was better.. Newcastle were also sh*t in the game, they lost far too much possession as well as 50/50 duels.. The great thing of this game is probably our finishing, it's clinical..

Well, anyway it's our biggest victory in the league since God knows how long so I understand the bandwagon.. Of course there were lot of positives from the game, the proper fullback in action, 1 DM , youth chance & goal, a newcomer brace and lots of goals, all happened at the same time and against the zebra too, it's a sweet victory..

Bandwagon? Christ just enjoy a big win with some excellent goals amidst a season of sh*t.

Said at the start of the week that I thought this was a must-win, and I think this win just about makes us safe. Our next 8 games are all a step-up from this so creating a buffer this weekend was key.

The match itself is hard to take too much from. This was the weakest side we've faced all season apart from MK Dons (yes, the chants were correct and they were worse than Sunderland) so I don't want to say this is a turning point lest it becomes another false dawn.

What I will say is this was the fittest that the team has looked all season and they were able to play at a level of intensity that they haven't perhaps since last January.

The atmosphere was still pretty flat though and the travelling fans were in good voice despite their team putting in a shocker. The JT injury brought everyone down but I liked the balance the back four had with square pegs in square holes.

Overall it's just a relief to get an important win and it's nice to score some goals. The big takeaway from this match is the probable safety it offers from relegation and the goal scored by Traore, because the future is the best thing to focus on now. This season is gone but we can start laying some sort of foundation for next season.
