I think, (and good lord what has happened that this sentence is coming out of my mouth?) that Mikel has to be the first name on the team sheet tonight. He's been a rock under Hiddink and we need that protection for the back four. I know Miazga won't start but i've been musing over what could be an interesting way to field tonight and I'd like to see Dave and Mikel in holding midfield. I honestly think Dave could do a good job there considering what we're up against.

Azpilicueta as a DM isn't a bad shout actually. With his workrate and tenacious pressing he could help close down the midfield. Only problem is without Fabregas we have little creativity from deep to provide those over the top balls for Costa, Haz, Willian etc to chase which I think will be crucial to grabbing a goal- we can't outplay PSG over 90 minutes unfortunately

so clueless about this one...but excited!

It would allow their full-backs quite a lot of time on the ball, but if it's Maxwell and Marquinhos as opposed to Maxwell and Aurier it's less of a problem.

 

In that system I would want Willian to stick to Thiago Motta like a rash and disrupt their midfield as much as humanly possible. If we can win the ball high up the pitch it is possible that we can catch them unawares, particularly if Luiz goes for one of his trademark wanderings forward.

 

I don't think we should do it though - implementing an entirely new system mere days before such an important clash seems like a recipe for disaster.

 

Presumably we'll play the lineup everyone is predicting (I suppose the only real debate is the one between Oscar and Pedro). I am really not looking forward to tonight, I have a feeling we'll get beaten comfortably.

I have not watched enough games from Chelsea this year to have an opinion on particular players such as John Terry. Only heard he might leave at the end of the season and was a bit surprised as I remember him as one of the best best centre back of the 21st century.

I was confident his absence would be a huge loss for your tie but here (in France) experts claim it might be a blessing in disguise for Chelsea since it would draw Ivanovic (who is allegedly not performing well) out of the RB to the centre where he would supposedly be better. Would you guys agree ?

 

My biggest concerns are Fabregas and Willian. I've seen enough of the first to hope Matuidi will be able to stop him without conceding too many free kicks for the latter to enjoy.

I thought we had the best team regarding corners and indirect free kicks with players such as Silva, Luiz, Marquinhos, Cavani, etc. but i also remember that we have been endangered on every kicks and concedes a lot of goals to your back line (Ivanovic, Cahill) or Schurlle. Its been the key of the former confrontations. Might be the case this year as well.

 

Cannot wait for the game to start. Productivity at work is minimum !

Ivan hasn't been playing well at RB we would agree, but is SLOWLY finding his feet- Playing him in CB is a gamble and could go either way; we really dont have much choice (that said, personalty i would prefer him as CB and RB! as I have always appreciated Azpi in RB!) with poor Zouma being sidelined for the rest of the season - The fact the Terry isnt playing is also a HUGE psychological blow for us! He is our Captain, our Leader our Legend! 

 

Chelsea are most dangerous when we are unpredictable! That's a fact and we can look at CL 2012 for what happens when we have to mix things up and fight ourselves out of a corner! Terry wasn't there either...

I get nervous for Champions League games more than i do any other competition. If we are not in it next season then at least my heart will get a rest from it. 

Hopefully Willian can bring his CL free kicks back tonight.

 

Getting excited for the game.

Excited for tonight, will be a tough one but hoping for a great performance, everybody has written us off for this game, but didn't they do the same when we played Arsenal?

 

I think first 20 min will be crucial for the final outcome, if we will not concede, or even better if we manage to score, I see us drawing at least.

Disappointing interview from Hazard, his mind has not been on Chelsea all season. He is a super quality player, but can't seem to be bothered too much this season. I can understand poor form, but in my personal opinion Hazard has not put the effort at all, making it very annoying to watch. 

Not confident for this game at all. I don't think we have the personnel for a defensive performance. Maybe our best bet is to try take the game to psg and suprise them.

If we sit deep, I can see us making a couple of costly lapses in concentration.

Psg will most probably try to kick hazard off the pitch again today, so I think the game for us is decided by whether fabregas can get on the ball enough to find costa.

Looking forward to this, but at the same time, I'm sick of playing psg.

Interesting point about Hazard getting kicked about, that is true, Veratti kicked him around last year and got away with it. It wont happen but it will be important that we get in the ear of the ref for any of these instances but we wont because were too nice and we lack leaders on the pitch these days. Part of the reason PSG went through last year apart from being better than us was the fact the ref was allowing veratti 4/5 fouls before booking him.

 

We have to get in the refs ear if this happens but Hazard gets fouled and gets straight back up, football is not a game for realists, we need to do everything to win. Hazard really pissed me off in the game against Kiev away I think, player leaves his leg out for Hazard to get a free penalty and he stays on his feet and tries to pull the ball back, so annoying, u can bet anything the likes of Ballack, Drogba etc would be doing anything to win
