Good result all things told. I was surprised how poor PSG were in some areas and Verratti clearly wasn't fully fit, but we had far more of the ball then I expected and if a few things go the other way then we maybe get a win.

 

Having said that the old problems were still there. Hazard wasn't incisive, the midfield was overrun and when players got tired we simply didn't have the squad depth to make changes. Compare that with the impact PSG's subs had and the game was crying out for someone like Ramires who excels in stretched games.

 

Apart from that Cesc and Baba were two high points, with the latter looking more than comfortable at this level. The return leg will be a tough one because we need to score but it's certainly doable although I can't imagine PSG would be this open again.

Very good performance from the boys tonight, all of them deserved praise for the effort and fighting spirit. As to the 2-1 loss away - well, PSG at their peak of the game for many years just squeezed past Chelsea at their worst crisis for years - in a very even contest. I hope we stuff them at the Bridge.
