May 11, 201610 yr Personally I don't think Marin was good but he was never given good game time. Given his record in Bundesliga Marin was a good signing, but in reality was rubbish for us. Our points haul with him in the side was mid table/relegation form at best. A good example of a player who shines early in his career before drifting into obscurity (same path Raheem Sterling will take imo, potentially Musonda too). May 11, 201610 yr No one said they were rubbish after 10 minutes. It was after half a dozen times of being on the park and not being able to do the basic's of a footballer that made my mind up. They might be able to do better in other countries but for Chelsea and English football they are quite clearly not good enough. Not a dig at you at all, and I don't even think this is the case with John Squared, but Arsenal fans were saying this sort of thing about Bellerin for ages before he came good. Regular game time in the face of some bad performances can help a player a lot.
May 11, 201610 yr Well we shall hope he doesn't bring cuadrado back. Hopefully he saw how ineffective he was here and decides he doesn't suit us Didn't suit Mourinho, how does that mean he doesn't suit Conte's Chelsea?

So if Abraham comes on for 10mins and plays rubbish tonight then 20mins at the weekend and plays rubbish then we might as well right him off. Chelsea would be better off starting Abraham tonight than Pato. Edited May 11, 201610 yr by Ernie_blue

A lot of Spurs fans were saying Bale was sh*t and we all know what happened next (though Cuadrado is 27 now so time is running out for him). Edited May 11, 201610 yr by the special one

Talking about a teams point haul was affected by 1 player is nonsense. Massive difference between Sterling and Marin.
May 11, 201610 yr So if Abraham comes on for 10mins and plays rubbish tonight then 20mins at the weekend and plays rubbish then we might as well right him off. Chelsea would be better off starting Abraham tonight than Pato. So Cuadrado only got 30 mins and 2 appearances.... I'm not a fan of Pato but even he done more in half a game than Cuadrado done in half a dozen.
May 11, 201610 yr Chelsbear is spot on, Cuadadro couldn't even do simple things whilst here. That to me shows he wasn't good enough. Confidence or not you should be able to show something even if it's something simple and he showed nothing of note whatsoever.
May 11, 201610 yr Well if it's something simple, he did win a penalty in the last game vs Sunderland last season...
May 11, 201610 yr Considering when they did play they were mince of course not. Do you expect a Chelsea side expected to win the title to constantly play guys who are obviously not good enough for us. Atsu moved to Everton and was woeful too, but yeah we should play them because it's our fault they are crap as they need more time on the pitch........ Harry Kane was 'mince' on most of his loans, got a run in the team and now the most prolific striker in the league. As someone mentioned before as was Bellerin. Confidence helps a footballer so much, without it a player is nothing.
May 11, 201610 yr Well if it's something simple, he did win a penalty in the last game vs Sunderland last season... Getting fouled is doing something simple? Hmmm
May 11, 201610 yr Talking about a teams point haul was affected by 1 player is nonsense. Massive difference between Sterling and Marin. I didn't say the teams points haul was affected by just Marin. I'm just saying Marin was one of the players who contributed to Di Matteo's eventual sacking because of the team's underperformance. Edited May 11, 201610 yr by the special one

Confidence helps a footballer so much, without it a player is nothing. Harry Kane was lightning in a bottle people compare way to much. It's like Luke Shaw cause he started at Southampton like Bale people were saying he should move to the wing like Bale did. Doesn't mean it's gonna work for him cause it worked for someone else.Even so just taking the confidence factor, again that doesn't mean players can't do simple things. Cuadadro was terrible while here showed nothing of note whatsoever. Edited May 11, 201610 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
May 11, 201610 yr Well if it's something simple, he did win a penalty in the last game vs Sunderland last season... He has a league medal from England and Spain and was had most assists in the last World Cup. Can't be all that bad.

Confidence helps a footballer so much, without it a player is nothing. Kane done extremely well when he came into the first team for Spuds. Cuadrado when coming in had a nightmare. Kane kept his performance levels up, Cuadrado seemed to get worse with every minute he played. What do you expect Chelsea to do when a player like Cuadrado is hindering the results on the park? Did you want him to be played in front of footballers who actually contributed to the cause?
May 11, 201610 yr Getting fouled is doing something simple? Hmmm Haha. In all honesty mate, we shouldn't begrudge his return, if for one thing, him coming back shows Conte intends to be flexible tactically as he's useful in a 352 and 442 system.
May 11, 201610 yr I didn't say the teams points haul was affected by just Marin. I'm just saying Marin was one of the players who contributed to Di Matteo's eventual sacking because of the team's underperformance. How many starts did Marin make before Di Matteo got sacked?

Would love to be proven wrong mate honestly but I just can't see it. Some people just suit certain leagues.
May 11, 201610 yr How many starts did Marin make before Di Matteo got sacked? Just looked, sorry just a few cameo appearances as a sub under RDM to be fair - it was actually FSW that gave him a few starts in the league that year. When he started we lost 1-0 at home to QPR, drew 2-2 away at Brentford, lost 2-1 away to Southampton (though he did start in the 5-1 demolition of dirty Leeds so there is that) - I'm not scapegoating him, just saying the league results speak for themselves. May 11, 201610 yr I just wouldn't mind giving Cuadrado another chance if the manager wants him, might work out better than chucking another load of money at a player. He probably is better suited to Italy but I do think it was one of Mourinhos biggest downfalls not giving players a chance. I just think of having Luis, Bertrand, Lukuka, KDB in the squad and what a difference it would make :(.

Did you want him to be played in front of footballers who actually contributed to the cause? Oscar was playing ahead of him.. The same Oscar that does nothing of note after the first two months of a season. He would also offer the same as Willian, which is an engine up and down the wing and not much more.
May 14, 201610 yr Ancelotti speaks of him. Must read. He really knows Conte.
