We made a £90m bid for Pogba, £38m for Stones to go along with spending over £50m on Begovic, Pedro and Baba.

tried could just mean they make a bid, making a bid is meaningless if the bid had no chance to be accepted

 

if they throw 120m on pogba last year we already got it, throw 50m on stones and we already got it last year

200million spent and they still didn't get champions league. Whats the point in blowing the bank and still not getting the minimum target? Ask LVG about that one. We need quality and that's difficult, especially if we don't have Champions league. If players don't want to come here because of that we have to accept that. The genuinely good players will want Champions league football to further their careers or at least placate their previous fans. If Koulibaly is a true professional he would think twice about leaving a club with champions league for one that doesn't even have Europa. If you want to argue that money talks then you're probably right but this can attract a certain type of player Shevcenko, Torres, Falcao etc.

if my memory didnt fail me Man Utd did get top4 after being 7th, is last year they failed but they didnt spend 200m after getting into CL the year before...
