Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Featured Replies

Antonio Conte has given an update on two young centre-backs he took with him on the club’s tour of the USA which ended this week.

Kurt Zouma and Matt Miazga were not involved in the three games played against Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan, but both worked hard in training and our head coach is pleased with what he has seen.

Zouma is in the later stages of recovery from reconstructive surgery on a knee injury suffered in February.

Zouma is improving,’ reported our head coach. ‘He has improved a lot and this is good news for us, but we know his injury was very bad and for this reason I think we must respect the time and we must respect him.

‘It is important Zouma takes his time to be sure to go into the team and to stay. For me it is important to see Zouma is improving and I am very happy for the guy because his injury was very bad.’

Miazga was back in his homeland following the Austrian training camp where he was used in two of the games.

‘Miazga is a young player with good technique,’ assessed Conte. ‘He is working very well on the physical aspect. On the tactical aspect he can improve a lot but he is improving with this work and in this moment of his career it is good if he plays to improve, to grow his experience.

‘You can improve only if you play, you get a lot of games during the season, but he is a good guy with great athletic ability and I am very happy with him.’

Will be interesting to see how long Conte persists with the 4-4-2. Its quite clear we dont have the personell for it and two of our best players are clearly not a fit for it. He has said a few times he dosent try to fit square pegs into round holes so I expect him to stop doing just that.

I don't like this playing out from the back we are doing, especially from goalkicks. We are too sloppy, we will lose it and get punished.

Just been watching the Man U - Leicester game... it just me or is anyone else still feeling a bit sad seeing Mou ar Man U?

I have a feeling we are going to be seeing variations of this same post a lot this season.

a lot

i still think we make a BIG mistake last season and is going to haunt us in the next 5~10 years

Naah. I'm too excited about Conte. I'm not that bothered what other clubs do. Jose is Jose. He wins things. What I like to see how ManU fans turn their jacket on the man. There has been a lot of hate towards him and now they start to love him.

Especially after the last Euro - Conte showed me a lot & I did get a warm & fuzzy feeling - I think Jose fans forget that CFC were in a relegation place & CFC did play better after he was sacked - Love Jose but that ship has sailed

Not in the slightest, I'm still more upset about Mata. No denying Mourinho is one of the greats but doesn't mean I have to like him.

the man who was a zaza penalty away from euro semis with sunderland rejects and mid-level serie a-players (apart from the backline and the goalie) will have my full support until proven not fit for our club. attracting a coaching talent like that is an opportunity that comes once every decade (if that!), and i couldn't be happier with mourinhos replacement.

and i would just tease my local fanclub to hell who had been bashing Jose 2 months before his sacking if Jose won the league this year

so you would be happy if Jose rather than Chelsea win the league?

It's a bittersweet moment, but I've moved on despite my initial anger in the subsequent months after he was sacked but that chapter has closed in our club's history.

I didn't agree with the decision to sack him and I'm still fearful we will regret it in the long-term, but we can't go back and now we need to move forward as a club rather than looking back and harking back to Jose. He's a legend for eternity and that will never change, but both parties have moved on.

Now it's time to worry about our own club and getting behind Conte to deliver us success.
