Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

"Conte arrives at Stamford Bridge with a reputation as the best coach of defensive organisation in the game. Given that only the bottom six kept fewer clean sheets than Chelsea last season, he’s got his work cut out".

From an article on the Football365 website, Is Conte really the best defensive coach in football (better than Simeone?), really looking forward to how he sorts out our defense throughout the season.

the problem is he cant make a good defensive side with player like Ivan and aging Terry or even aina

if my memory didnt fail me Man Utd did get top4 after being 7th, is last year they failed but they didnt spend 200m after getting into CL the year before...

I stand corrected. They still spend a lot of money and don't currently have Champions League.  My point about not having champions league still stands. We may have to go without new top quality defenders.

What is with your disdain for Aina? He's shown great potential and looked comfortable for most of our pre season, given a bad time by Madrid, but there's not many occasions in the PL when he'll come up against a left sided attack like madrid's. Letting him play and grow is the only way he'll improve, and he's got everything to be a top player. This is at least the third or fourth time i've seen you berating him for no reason.

The new breed of supporters we seem to have, don't have any patience, they probably started following us in the golden era when the legends were here. The thought of us bringing forward youth players from the academy scares the beJesus out of them.

i support Chelsea since i was 5~6, 1997, the difference is now we are claimed to be the team who challenge to be the best of Europe and winning more CL like Real Madrid (Roman said it back we won CL in 2012), in the days back to 1997, even a 500k of signing unknown players i am happy enough, because those days our club isnt the one who challenge the title not even mention CL, but things changed. If our club one day announced that for wtever reason we are now only challenge to become a midtable club I would be fine to give as many chances as possible for the youth

are we trying to get back to TOP4 this season or not

if we are settle to act like Liverpool I am totally fine to give as many chances to our youngster to make sure they could grow as much as they can so we could sell them to manchester city, Madrid or Barcelona for 60m in few years

No, Mourinho for me is the best defensive coach.

Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan he shown time again he can build a side that's extremely difficult to beat

Playing young players and getting top 4 are not mutually exclusive pal.  Spurs did it last year, Delle Alli, Kane, Dier; all young players. United very nearly got top 4 with a manager who is a tactical potato playing Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Fosu-Mensah. City had Iheanacho as their back up striker last season and he scored a boatful of goals. Barcelona regularly play their academy prospects. Bayern too. Saying that by having a young defender playing RB for us we won't get top 4 is total nonsense, Aina could be a liability for the first few games, sure, but he'll grow into the role as he gets used to being first choice. He's good enough and he's ready, and he's far and away the best option we have right now because Ivan has gone senile and needs a zimmer frame to get around the pitch, and we don't have a LB so that's Dave's spot.

spurs did it last year, but we MUST DO IT THIS YEAR, they can afford not getting into it for years but we CANNOT AFFORD TO DROP OUT TWO YEARS IN A ROW ORELSE WE RISK OF LOSING EVERY WORLD CLASS PLAYERS WE HAD

Rashford is the product of Manchester United had all of their strikers injured and he is the only one left, no one would love to be in that situation. Martial is a 3xm striker, Lingard already spend 4 years in different divisions on loans before stepping up into the first team. Fosu-Mensah only played 8 games last year

Iheanacho is the backup of Aguero AND bony, not necessarily the first one to get to the pitch if Aguero got injured. And aina would be the backup of who? Ivanovic? so we are gambling on someone who never played professional league to help us getting top4?

Barcelona can always afford playing youth because the difference of their league is just huge, every year we saw them trashing bottom half team 5-0, 6-0 even Real score 10 f**king goals. Besides top6 every team just not even a match to Barcelona or Real, but in BPL is completely different story, we could easily lost to Burnley if we arent putting 100% effort. Same story goes to Bayern

No need to get irate, I can read your sentences without you capitalising everything. I agree, we can't afford to miss out on top 4 again, and I do think we should get another full back, don't get me wrong. So Rashford only got his chance because everyone was injured, then went on to be their first choice striker for the rest of the season. That proves my point that just because a player is young and inexperienced they shouldn't be written off. Iheanacho was in the same position, he became their second choice striker because he proved he was better than Bony. Aina has shown a lot in the games he's played for us so far, he plays with a maturity that isn't normal for his age or experience. Why shouldn't we gamble on our youth products to help us get top 4? He's a Chelsea product, he'll give his all for the shirt, he can only prove himself if he's given the chance, it's attitudes like yours that are the reason our top tier youth academy doesn't transfer players over to our first team, looking for the ready made option instead of having a player that can be moulded and nurtured to be top class for us. Look how well Zouma did when he was given the chance to impress, he turned into our best centre back after six or seven games as a starter, he improved in every aspect of his game in an incredibly short space of time. I'm just not sure why you write Aina off as an option for us. It's not as if he's going to let everyone in the league walk all over him, he may have a tough time in the odd game, but he cannot possibly cost us more points than Ivanovic did last season, so I say run with him. Centre back is our top priority at the moment, we need cover for JT and Zouma(when he returns) as if either one of them is injured or suspended we are in a bad place.

On a side note, people suggesting that they would like Mourinho to win the league can f**k off personally, this is not about the board being proved wrong etc,it is about moving on trying to get back to being a successful team again.

I can relate to people wanting a chelsea affiliate e.g ex player/ex manager to do well if chelsea don't.

I am not saying we should never give aina a chance but only the third choice at the best, we need to have proven players to start and sub for us to make sure we have our best chance to secure top4, if everyone injured sure we should just sent aina on and try but before that we should always well prepared. have at least 1 starter and 1 sub and a youngster to prepare for the worse, not putting him on if Ivanovic or azpi got injured, this is irresponsible to our fans who hope them to secure top4 and isnt good for him to put into the fire without any professional football experience

Any chance of us going in for Mata or Bastian ?

Mata, Hazard and Oscar were a scintillating attacking trio when playing together and Mata can really spark our attack to be the best in the league.

As for Bastian, he would come cheap and be useful in case Matic's form doesn't improve.

mata is done, he lost his confidence and his magic, and wont worth anywhere near 20m, not to mention Jose wont even sell him to us given the relationship atm

and conte dont really have a no10, if putting mata in the wing is terrible for both and we already have tons of them

Yup, but the biggest obstacle is that it's manchester united ! Can't stand the biggest gloryhunters of all, GGMU chanting lot accusing fans of others clubs to be plastics.

The whole bus parking thing is very Jose! I imagine he will turn OT into a hard place to win.

Then wouldn't it be the best thing to come back to the place where he knows he's loved by the fans, where he played his best. Given his pedigree and his performances with us, would be worth a chance. Mata won't do worse than Fabregas even if he tried.

Mata is more of a shadow striker. He could play with Costa up front but that is the only place i can see him being a marginal success. He definitely cannot play Cesc's current role. If you think the midfield is porus with Cesc, it will be a whole new level with Mata.

Mata is a good player but current football doesn't have a place for him in big clubs. If you make a team around him, he will be good. But he isn't one that you can do that. Better if he changes leagues.

mata is completely different player to Cesc
