For what it is worth, the Pogba fee is a smaller percentage of our revenue than each of the fees we paid for Veron and Ferdinand.

Still it is a crazy amount of money that might be spent better but at the stage we are at we unfortunately have to pay these fees to get this calibre of player. Excited nonetheless.

It's a happy day for one baltic country. For the first time since Mart Poom made 1 league appearance for Arsenal back in the 06-07 season. An Estonian footballer will be playing the Premier League.

Forgive the poor choice of employer, but this is absolutely sensational news and the sports world in Estonia has exploded. First rumours came about saturday and I didn't even believe it. For sure the best Estonian player out there right now and also deservedly captain of the national team. Here's to hoping he'll get plenty of games in Liverpool and have a successful spell, perhaps even make a move to a successful club in England. For the time being, I'm secretly hoping Liverpool win the league cup or something small.

I wonder how far Sunderland have gotten with a replacement. A lot of people are saying Moyes. I think he'll be good for them. Their goal is survival, and I think he'll achieve that goal.

For what it's worth, as a non-English, I think Allardyce will be a good manager for England in terms of achieving realistic expectations. His style isn't pretty, but it frustrates the hell out of opponents, and you only have to watch it a few times a year. People have complained that he isn't a winner, hasn't won anything, won't win anything for England.

I think that's true, England won't win anything with him in charge. I don't think they'd win anything with anyone in charge unless they get unusually lucky and pull a Greece 2004 or Portugal 2016.

Realistic goals for the English team are to beat teams they'd be expected to beat on paper, occasionally beat teams they're not expected to beat on paper, and put up a good fight in any games they lose. However far that takes them in a tournament will depend on the draw.

What I'm pretty sure Allardyce will not do: play players with a bad attitude, be biased toward big names and big teams, be an FA yes man.

Who do you see getting on/off the team under Allardyce? I can see Carroll getting a shot. Noble and Shawcross perhaps? I think Wilshere will be dropped but don't have a sense of who else will be. I'm very curious what he'll do with Rooney.

I think Gary will keep his spot, deservedly so. He's been in JT's shadow and has been underrated as a result. He also strikes me as having a good attitude.

I'm really disappointed that Guardiola's initiation into the PL won't be against a Big Sam side. I hope Pulis sticks around long enough for West Brom to play Manchester City in late October.

Wtf has happened to the transfer market, never in a month of sundays is Pogba worth over £100 million, Messi and Ronaldo must be off the scale, Hazard has got to be worth as much if not more.....

Liverpool have accepted a £13million bid off Stoke for the Welsh Xavi. Madness.

Good signing for Stoke.

Hughes has done some cracking business since going there, completely transformed the mindset of the club.

The fee is £25 mill aswell, footballs gone mad

He did score 4 goals in one game against Norwich last season.

Then went into hibernation!

I'll never forget a friend of mine trying to convince me Aquilani was going to be the next big thing.

The Telegraph is reporting that David Moyes to Sunderland is almost a done deal, and they will announce it once Allardyce officially signs the FA contract. They started pursuing Moyes as soon as Allardyce got interest from the FA. They haven't even interviewed anyone else.

Good appointment for them. He's a prudent spender, and Sunderland need that. They've given the manager a budget so limited that Big Sam couldn't even afford the £5 million to buy their starting right back, loanee Deandre Yedlin from Tottenham, and was trying to secure another loan instead.

I'd also be surprised if they get relegated under Moyes.

So basically I expect Moyes to achieve a similar end to Allardyce in terms of basic goals (survival without accruing debt), just a different means of getting there.

Gotze has just rejoined Dortmund.

Wonder how their fans must feel

Bayern are taking a loss on this. They must really think he's useless.

From what I've read, fans are split. The ultras refuse to forgive him and say they'll boo him, but less hardcore fans are more sensible in my opinion.

Yes he left in a pretty odious way, but he was a 21 year old who thought the grass was greener on the other side, as many people that age do. I think he'll eventually win over the ultras again. If he doesn't, it'll be more their fault than his.

His PR team needs to carefully manage his return. They need to portay him as the penitent prodigal son with a newfound appreciation of the club and erase the impression that he's a spoiled kid who returned only because he wasn't wanted elsewhere.

It helped that he refused to celebrate his goal against Dortmund. I know that some people find it pretentious to not celebrate a goal against a former club, but I think he genuinely felt uneasy about it.

Pssh... no proper manager would want Yedlin when they already have Billy Jones on the books.

Billy Jones over Yedlin, if he continues his recent form, is a dream come true for the bottom half teams because that's one less relegation spot to avoid. Yedlin improved a lot under Allardyce. It'll be interesting to see if Moyes wants him considering that their styles are pretty different.
