Bit harsh that on the City fans bearing in mind the fixture was postponed 24 hours, sometimes life just gets in the way.

You can't create a fan base out of thin air, City have history of not filling their ground in the early stages I just don't think they have the fan base.

That's not a dig I just don't think success and 60,000 people turning up every week are one and the same.

I don't see Liverpool selling out once the buzz around their new stand wears off, will be a problem for us one day as well.

It's not that big of a deal, Barcelona had nearly 30,000 empty seats in their CL match yet nobody rushed to twitter to slate them.

Yep - City just don't have a big fanbase in my experience. Only ever known one and he was an old teacher of mine who chose City purely at random. You see more fans of Leeds, Villa, Newcastle and even Everton down south than Man City fans.

Have said it plenty of times in the past - IMO, City are very much the Northern Chelsea. Always in their bigger neighbours shadow but with a very loyal support. Like us, their attendances did fall but back in the late '90's when they dropped down to the 3rd Division they were still getting 30,000+ against the likes of Grimsby and Port Vale.

Now, with the money, like us they are up there as one of the Big Boys but will still struggle to fill the ground every game (as I think we would with a 60,000 capacity) but I have found their supporters to be more fanatical and hardcore than many of our other rivals.

I actually don't reckon we'd have many problems selling out 60,000 nowadays - if West Ham can do it (cheap tickets, lots of floaters I know, but anyway) then we definitely can as our support is much bigger. We have a mass support all over the south-east.

Their foreign fanbase has certainly increased, as is expected. Problem is they aren't going to the stadium every week.

For the majority of games I agree, but early stages of CL and games against the likes of Stoke and Burnley I just don't see us getting 60k (unless they reduced ticket prices or brought in more concessions). I know we have a good widespread fan-base but these days, with so many televised games and online streaming that doesn't guarantee you actual bums on seats.

Nibs whilst i agree with many of your points, I think you're doing your own club a slight disservice by saying that, There are so many Chelsea fans from Birmingham, Scotland/Ireland, How do i know this? If you listen to the call in shows after games, Chelsea fans vary from Londoners, Brummies, Irish, Scots and even some Mancunians, I've heard a fair few Manc accents on Chelsea callers on talksport/radio 5 live where as with City the call in fans are always Mancs with maybe the odd Scottish/Irish caller and the rare African fan who supports/likes/admires us because of Toure/Iheanacho.

Chelsea are comfortably the bigger club simply because of the more European success, Even before Abramovich, Chelsea were a name on the continent, Not to mention the Vialli/Zola/Gullit era, I am able to admit that without getting wound up,  I also acknowledge that lot are a bigger club than us also. In terms of size/performance/fan base and current lure, I would say United are the biggest, Chelsea the 2nd biggest, Arsenal 3rd, us 4th with Spurs/Liverpool joint 5th. Liverpool have a huge fan base but the current lure and performance of that club cannot give them a spot above us or Spurs in my opinion. Spurs are a London club and going places, Same with us plus we have a few league titles in the bag and are now trying to do stuff in Europe, Liverpool have sleptwalked for the past 10 years, Maybe with Klopp they will get back up there but we thought that under Rafa, Fergie has absolutely dismantled that bunch to the point where everytime you think they have found their swagger they implode.

Spurs continue to embarrass English football, with a home defeat against Monaco.

I was thrilled! I'm sure they will still probably qualify but I'm pleased to see them have to do it the hard way.

It was amusing to hear the Monaco owner say United and Chelsea misused his prized possession during his time in England. It was our fault Falcao never got back to where he was, not the crippling (pun intended) knee injury.

My impression, purely my personal impression, is that at Manchester City there is a disconnect between the club and the fans, and there has been for a while.

There are no players or officials other than maybe Vincent Kompany that convey, I'm one of you, I get you.

It's a combination of local ties, long club service, and an intangible personality factor.

We have JT. West Ham have Mark Noble. Spurs have Harry Kane--players who have come through the academy. Coming through the academy makes it almost automatic to forge a connection with fans, but that's not a prerequisite. Frank Lampard had that connection with fans.

It doesn't have to be players. Peter Coates is "one of their own". Ferguson had that effect. The connection between club and fans has weakened since his departure. I fear that when JT leaves, we'll head down that route.

There are also clubs with a culture of joint identity among fans. Liverpool, Everton, and Crystal Palace over the years have forged that sense in their fans. Even a sense that "we  know we're sh*t" can be unifying. I get that impression from Sunderland fans, that the shared experience of so many relegation battles has brought them closer together.

This is purely my impression from the outside. I'm sure many on the inside will disagree.

There has been quite abit written about how young players aren't coming through at City and I wonder if this is making a difference. I actually thought Joe Hart had quite abit of connection with the City fan, it's shame he's gone.

The whole "big club" is a myth anyway - it doesn't mean anything these days as we saw with the transfer window. Kante snubbed United because he wanted to come to us.

I do love how the City fans boo the CL anthem - so funny and it kinda shows that they don't take themselves too seriously (unlike Liverpool and United fans).

The cocaine in Columbia is outstanding

FYI it's Colombia, not Columbia. One way to remember it is to keep in mind that the letter u is pronounced oo in Spanish. For example, uno (the number 1) is pronounced oo-noe rather than uh-noe. So if it were spelled Columbia, that means it would be pronounced coe-loom-bee-uh. As it's not pronounced that way, you know it's Colombia.

So funny reading Red Cafe. They are complaining ably the style of football and bemoaning Jose's negative football.

Someone posted..."it's like Van Gaal never left".
