Last week there were claims in Brazil that Chelsea had submitted a €30m offer for Gabigol. Chelsea aren’t in any mood to enter an auction situation so as it stands the €30m remains on the table and Gabigol, Santos and other interested parties would need to decide their responses. Spanish newspaper Sport claim that Barcelona are interested too, and they have a right to match any bid made, which is a legacy from the club’s messy deal to sign Neymar. However, Sport think Chelsea have bid €25m, and they say that if it goes to €30m then Barcelona will likely have to walk away.

Barcelona would find it difficult to match such a fee at the moment, according to Sport, which would then only leave Juventus as competition for Chelsea. Gabriel Barbosa has hinted he could be set to leave Santos by saying "soon you will know something."

Barbosa, 19, scored on Saturday as Santos beat Ponte Preta to take his tally in the current Brazilian season to five goals in 10 appearances. He told a postmatch news conference: "I played as if it was my last game here. Soon you will know something."

To add to speculation about his future the Brazil international posted an Instagram picture of himself kissing the Santos badge, alongside the message: "My heart is Alvinegro and it will always beat for you. Santos are my life. I will love you until death."

" Meu coração é alvinegro , e bate forte por você .. Santos você é minha vida , eu te amarei até morrer "-ESPN

This rumor has been around for some time and doesn't seem to be going away. Don't have any knowledge on but his video compilations look okay. Seem like one for the future but I wonder about our academy players such as Solanke, Tammy and Brown. Missed feeling about this one.

If the club thinks he is going all the way to the top then we should go for it, and not worry about solanke, tammy, and brown who are all nowhere near Gabriel's current level.

Signing experienced squad players is my main gripe for blocking young players chances, we shouldn't pass up on players like renato sanches, Neymar, etc just on the off chance an rlc, or kakuta, turn out to be world class.

Whether gabriel is in that bracket is down for the club to decide.

He gets amazing on football manager for the last few years... That's about the extent of my knowledge.

I think he gets amazing on Fifa too just FYI.

I trust the club must have seen something our young strikers are missing to bid that sort of money!

Barbosa has been identified as one of the Brazil / South America super talents- Kenedy was on that list as well.

If we get him for 25-30 mil Euros would be great business. I am glad we started to look into South America for young talent. Europe is overpriced and overhyped at the moment.

Check these videos, there is a selection for Barbosa

Would never judge without seeing him consistently but wasnt overly impressed on Youtube. Impossible to tell, but didnt show anything Kenedy didnt when I YouTubed him last season.

Terrible defending in these Brazilian Leagues too,

I think kenedy is a lot more raw compared to gabriel, despite being older, which probably is a reason gabriel is already a full international, and kenedy hasnt made the u23 squad for the olympics.

Its not a slight on kenedy, he is a top prospect in his own right, but he is way off gabriel at this stage imo.

Gabriel Jesus seems to be the big thing in Brazil right now. Apparently him Neymar and Gabriel Barbosa will be the front 3 for Brazil in the Olympics.

He looks destined for barca or real though unfortunately.

The first team football probably helps as well to be fair, despite the level.

I wish Kenedy got more of a look in with us since he came, he always looked a live wire. (Not at LB)

Kenedy was also linked to the Spanish clubs and ended up at Chelsea, I wouldn't write us off yet. I think he would fit nicely at Chelsea, we already have a few Brazilians that will make it feel at home.

Honestly I would rather us spend 20 million on Barbosa than pay the ridiculous prices the English / European clubs are asking for the likes of Morata Higuain, Lukaku, etc

Both have been pretty terrible at the Olympics so far.

Jury is our on Gabriel Jesus, but Gabigol... seen him at 4 tournaments already and he has been forgettable each and every time. Not in the slightest interested.

But if he was of Nigerian descent would your evaluation be different?

Depends: Does he play for Nigeria or is he a British sell-out? :)

Jokes aside: Imoh Ezekiel has looked no worse than either Gabriel, but Sadiq Umar has obviously been the most interesting striker at the Olympics.

But I would for example never suggest you buy Ighalo, Emenike or any other striker of the current Nigerian setup. Musa bought by Leicester is a very high risk purchase, I would have advised him, even tough he's better than Gabigol ATM and cost less. The only Nigerian striker options worth consideration are the players from the current U20 setups.

Inter spending like crazy this window.

I think they got new owners recently who have been bankrolling trying to get them competing for titles again.

Would be good to see someone challenge Juventus' stranglehold on Serie A.
